Background: Touching exists in different forms and can be experienced through the skin. By touching oxytocin is released like a relaxing hormone which counteracts anxiety and depression. Therapeutic contact and healing touch are methods nurses? uses to give positive feeling of serenity, warmth and wellbeing for the patients. Touching can be a method for communication and happiness when word is not enough.

Background: Mental illness is a growing public health problem which can cause significant disabilities and lead to poor quality of life. As primary care nurses often are the first to encounter these patients they need knowledge to be able to respond appropriately to this group.Aim: The aim was to describe how the sufferer of mental illness experiences the introduction to primary care. Method: The literature review was based on the results of 11 scientific articles which were analyzed with the inspiration of a metasynthesis method.Results: Four categories emerged: the experience of being treated like a human being, the importance of a therapeutic space, the experience of time and availability as well as the importance of competent personnel and the importance of continuity. Patients described different aspects deemed important when encountering nursing staff. Conclusion: Patients experienced that they received good care when they felt listened to and seen as individuals with their own thoughts and feelings.

Syftet är även att undersöka hur personal på ortopedens nyinrättade ?snabbmottagningen? vid AS upplever stress, patientflöde samt telefonförfrågningarna, efter införandet enligt Lean-modellenMetod: Deskriptiv kvantitativ enkätstudie. Slumpmässigt urval utfördes på patienter och av hundra procent (n=55) tillfrågade, deltog fyrtionio procent (n=27). Av hundra procent tillfrågad personal (n=14), deltog sextiofyra procent (n=9).

Bakgrund: De senaste åren har antalet suicid och suicidförsök ökat. Livsvärlden i relation till hälsa och ohälsa var bärande begrepp i denna studie då detta ansågs vara av vikt för både hur sjuksköterskan och patienten kom att uppleva mötet efter ett suicidförsök. I bakgrunden beskrevs dessutom vikten av stöd för sjuksköterskan samt vilken roll hon eller han hade gentemot patienter som gjort ett suicidförsök. Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva sjuksköterskans upplevelser i mötet med patienter efter ett suicidförsök. Metod: Vald metod var en litteraturöversikt.

However, reporting these incidents is not always a positive experience. The number of incident reports which are documented are a lot fewer than the number of incidents that actually occur. The purpose of the present study was to describe factors that affect nurses? decisions on whether to report an incident or not.

Background: Patients who deliberate self harm often feel disappointed with the health care. The consequence of this may be that the patient avoid to seek help after self harming. Nurses' often experience these patients to be difficult and hard to deal with. Both patients' and nurses' thoughts about the situation may affect the situation in a negative way. A good relationship between the caregiver and patient is important.

Background: Hand hygiene is the simplest and most fundamental means to prevent care related infections. It is of great importance that the guideline of hand hygiene is followed for the patient?s sake. Unfortunately, healthcare workers perform hand hygiene too seldom. If the patient comes down with a care related infection, the suffering will increase.

Acute myocardial infarction is a serious diagnosis. Both the patient and the loved ones experience an immediate uncertainty. To be able to emotionally support the patient´s spouse, the nurse in the coronary care unit must be prepared to also encounter the world of the spouse. The aim of this study was from a nursing perspective to illuminate how life was experienced during the first two months by the spouse of someone, who was stricken by a first time acute myocardial infarction. Interviews with six spouses were conducted.

Sjuksköterskor och läkare spelar en stor roll i vården av överviktiga patienter och att denna patientgrupp får samma vård på samma villkor som patienter som inte är överviktiga. Inom hälso- och sjukvård kan det finnas negativa attityder om att patienter med ett högt BMI är lata och odisciplinerade. Vårt syfte var tudelat. Det första delsyftet var att beskriva om det finns negativa attityder från vårdpersonal gentemot överviktiga patienter. Den andra delen av syftet var att beskriva den överviktiga patientens egna upplevelser av vårdpersonalens attityder.

Fatigue är det vanligaste symtomet vid cancer och innebär onormal trötthet och utmattning. Symtomet påverkar människan både fysiskt, psykiskt och leder till minskad livskvalitet. I samband med cancer benämns symtomet som cancerrelaterad fatigue, CRF. Bristfällig medicinsk behandling mot CRF ställer större krav på sjuksköterskan att genom god omvårdnad lindra symtomet. God omvårdnad är bland annat att lindra lidande, vilket är en av sjuksköterskans primära arbetsuppgifter.

The activity becomes a part of the treatment. Since many today do not follow recommendations for physical activity occurs in the long term a number of public health diseases. EoP promotes health and prevents disease. AIM: The aim of this paper is toexamine whether EoP from a patient perspective perceived to be an efficient and effective method of treatment.

This thesis is a systematic review of the Swedish healthcare and hospital-library?s authorities on the consumer health information. The goal is to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses that are inherited in two professions (medical and LiS) with two completely different perspectives on mediating information.The method used is a mix between conceptual analysis of the Swedish term ?patient information? and a Critical conceptual analysis, according to Fairclough, of published native theses and international professional journals.Conclusion of the thesis is that although the nursing and medical staff has the necessary medical expertise it does not, in many cases have either the time or skill to completely satisfy a patient or his/her next of kin´s information needs when exposed in a uneasy situation as when in need of treatment or help in any kind.The hospital librarian on the other hand does have the intermediating skills and most often the time to explain complex treatments or medical procedures, but the lack in medical or nursing expertise.In a perfect setting there is an inter-professional cooperation which brings a lot of positive results. The problem today is often to overcome the gap in awareness of one and other that exists in a modern Swedish hospital..

ABSTRACTIntroduction: Violence towards employees in the psychiatric ward is increasing at an alarming rate. Reports concerning the effect on the staff?s psychological health are disturbing. These workforces are those most affected by brutality and for ages it has been looked upon as a part of the psychiatric line of work. This viciousness is threatening the safety for both the personnel and the patients.

Dagkirurgi verksamheten ökar och det pågår en debatt om vilken anestesiform som är mest lämpad för denna verksamhet. Snabb återhämtning, god kvalitet, kostnadseffektivitet och få biverkningar är målen för att få patienten att kunna gå hem samma dag. En kvantitativ studie med en enkät framkonstruerad för studiens syfte utfördes. Syftet med studien var att undersöka vad om avgör om en patient skrivs ut tidigt eller sent vid dagkirurgi med övningsmetod intravenös anestesi Target Controlled Infusion TCI eller Total Intraveös Anestesi TIVA. 20 stycken patienter på en dagkirurgisk avdelning observerades postoperativt av ansvarig sjuksköterska, som fyllde i frågorna i enkäten.

The purpose of this literature study was to describe techniques for monitoring general anesthesia and standing chemical restraint in the horse. A number of various techniques and devices related to e.g. blood pressure measurement, blood gas analysis and pulse oximetry are defined, and finally their clinical relevance and reliability are discussed. The equine patient is generally far more exposed to anesthesia-related risks than other smaller species. Complications such as hypotension and hypercapnia are commonly seen during general anesthesia. Thus, close monitoring is essentially performed by the veterinary nurse, whom is responsible for monitoring the anesthetized patient.
