En longitudinell studie av tidig talutveckling hos barn med isolerad gomspalt
The present study examines in a longitudinal perspective earlyspeech development in children with partial isolated cleft palate comparedwith children with unilateral cleft lip and palate and children with typicaldevelopment. The groups were compared regarding consonant production at18 months, 3 and 5 years. The results showed that speech development inchildren with isolated cleft palate did not differ significantly from that inchildren with typical development except for production of oral fricatives at18 months. The children with unilateral cleft lip and palate had significantlymore speech deviations at all ages. The children in both cleft palate groupshad significantly higher hearing thresholds at all ages.
Flerspr?kiga elevers l?rande i matematik: strategier, resurser och undervisning
This study?s aim is to investigate how multilingual students learn mathematics and teaching strategies used to support the students? development of knowledge. A total of eleven scientific articles were selected for analysis and comparison. The results showed that visual representation, multimodal forms of expression and the students? whole linguistic repertoire constitute central resources for learning.

Aim: The study aims to investigate the distribution of grades between students in a practical subject and in a theoretical subject.The problem:What is the grade distribution in physical education and mathematics, with respect to gender, socioeconomic background, parental education, ethnicity, and physical activity?Method:To answer the aim of the study a quantitative method was chosen. As the collection method used was questionnaires to 620 students in the 9th grade in Stockholm. Of the 620 questionnaires, 597 questionnaires were used for the static analysis. The method of analysis used cross tables and logistic regression analysis.
Matematikundervisning på väg... Men vart ska vi? : Grundskolelärares egna ord om hur de vill utveckla sin undervisning i matematik, analyserat ur ett dramapedagogiskt perspektiv
The aim of this thesis is to ascertain how primary school teachers would like to improve their mathematics teaching. The central questions for this research are:In what ways do teachers want to improve their mathematics teaching?How do the teachers justify their statements?What main features can be distinguished out of the teachers answers?Three interviews and seven surveys have been used to collect information from a total of nine teachers, at one primary school. Teaching pupils from preschool to sixth grade. The results have been analysed, interpreted and discussed using a drama pedagogical perspective, inspired by a holistic approach to learning.
Utomhusmatematik : ur lärares perspektiv
Syftet med denna undersökning var att ta reda på vad lärare i grundskolan anser om utom¬husmatematik, varför och när de själva arbetar med det. Arbetet innehåller utomhusmatemati¬kens yttre ramar. Jag har valt att intervjua sex lärare som arbetar med utomhusmatematik eller som tycker att det verkar vara ett intressant arbets¬sätt. Alla lärare arbetar i grundskolan och representerar två olika skolor. Två av lärarna arbe¬tar med utomhusmatematik en gång i veckan.
Morningside Mathematics : Förbättrar Morningside Mathematics elevernas kunskaper i addition och subtraktion i årskurs tre?
Studiens syfte är att undersöka vilka svårigheter matematiska problemlösningsuppgifter kan vålla elever, samt hur dessa istället kan omarbetas för eleverna ska få en bättre förståelse och kunna lösa dem lättare.Datainsamlingen i denna studie har skett genom en observation vid ett lektionstillfälle där eleverna arbetade med problemlösningsuppgifter. Utifrån observationerna samt elevernas resultat valdes ett antal elever ut för en intervju. Efter intervjuerna fick eleverna lösa några omarbetade problemlösningsuppgifter som författarna till denna studie har framtagit med hjälp av de åsikter eleverna haft om uppgifterna vid intervjuerna.Resultatet har visat att eleverna fått större förståelse för uppgifternas syfte, samt fått lättare att lösa problemlösningsuppgifterna efter att de konkretiserats med hjälp av språket och att eleverna fick möjlighet att använda laborativt material..
Hur tänker elever? : Elevintervjuer som metod för att kartlägga elevers tankar kring matematikundervisning
During my time as a student of education I have learnt that it is my responsibility, as a teacher, to adjust the ways in which I teach to the needs, abilities, experiences, and thoughts of each individual child. What I have not yet gained much knowledge on is how to go about finding the children?s thoughts.In this thesis I investigate the interview as a method of finding out how sixth graders think about their mathematics education. Four children were interviewed. In addition to these inter-views, as a means of giving a broader perspective to and a greater understanding of the chil-dren?s answers, one math lesson was filmed and the math teacher was interview on two sepa-rate occasions.What I found was that a number of factors seemed to influence the children?s thoughts and answers, and that their answers were most likely not always a mirror of their thoughts.

The Swedish School Board reported in 2007 that students with a foreign background to a larger extent than Swedish students leave school without grades in one or more subjects in the ninth grade. The report also reveals that during the year 2007/2008 17 percent of elementary school pupils had the right to home language instruction. Students with an other mother tongue than Swedish are considered a separate group that doesn?t perform as well in school.My study investigates how eleven Arabic-speaking ninth-graders at age 15-16 perceive the importance of their mother tongue for learning and identity development. To this purpose I have conducted semi-structured interviews ? one comprising six students in group and five individual ? in a school in one of the suburbs of Stockholms.

In the school subject of the natural sciences it is imperative that the students are given opportunities to ?talk science?, since the dialogues that occur in the classroom have a significant importance for the students? abilities to engage in meaning-making in their learning process. Hence, the student and teacher interaction in the classroom and the feedback given there play a significant role in the students? learning process. The aim of this study is to contribute to the development of formative assessment tools that can mediate the students? meaning-making in natural sciences subjects in upper-secondary school.
Algebra i gymnasieskolan : Vilka svårigheter har eleverna?
During my practice as a teacher trainee at an upper secondary school it became clear to me that many pupils have difficulties with algebra. Also in a report from the National Agency for Education (1999) you can see that the students algebra knowledge get worse and worse. I was surprised to find that many pupils seemed to get stuck on the level of attainment for the senior level of the nine-year compulsory school. As I have not studied anything about difficulties in algebra during my training to become a qualified teacher I would like to get to know more about this. I also examine why you have to study algebra in upper secondary school.

Practice of mathematical proof increase the understanding of mathematics anddevelop creativity skills, problem solving, communication, logical thinking andreasoning which are all important tools not only within the subject of mathematicsbut also important tools for the society in which we are living. The aim of this projectwas to investigate whether it is accurate that proof and proving has a subordinate rolein mathematic education in the upper secondary school in Sweden. This was done byconstructing of a digital survey that was sent to approximately 100 practicingmathematics teachers in a normal size city located in the middle of Sweden. Theresults of the survey show that the teachers consider themselves comfortable withtheir own skills in teaching proof. Paradoxically, the results also show that there is alack of teaching of proof and proving in the upper secondary school, although the newcurriculum puts more focus on proof and proving..
Oral hälsa hos vuxna diabetiker
Bakgrund: Diabetes är en kronisk sjukdom och mer än 150 miljoner i världen har sjukdomen. Diabetessjukdomen försämrar både den allmänna och den orala hälsan. Diabetikernas kunskaper om sjukdomens negativa effekter på munhälsan är bristfällig. Syfte: var att beskriva hur vuxna individers orala hälsa påverkas av diabetes och vad tandhygienister ska beakta vid en tandvårdsbehandling. Frågeställningar: Vilka är de orala komplikationerna hos vuxna individer med diabetes? Kan parodontitbehandling hos diabetiker ha positiva effekter på diabetessjukdomen? Vad bör tandhygienister särskilt ta hänsyn till vid behandling av diabetiker? Metod: Studien har genomförts som en systematisk litteraturstudie.
Erosionsskador hos barn och ungdomar
Aim: The aim of this study was to examine and explain the various methods available to rate the erosion damage, and on which teeth and tooth surfaces of erosion damage mostly occurs in children and adolescents.Method: A literature review was conducted, based on 15 scientific articles that have been reviewed, evaluated and analyzed. Articles were searched for in the database PubMed.Result: Six of the articles used the TWI (tooth wear index), which is an index to diagnose the tooth wear in the primary and permanent dentition. Eight articles used other indices as they considered that the TWI was not sufficiently developed to register the degree of tooth wear on some teeth. Tooth wear in the primary dentition occurs most often in the canines and incisors. Tooth wear in the permanent dentition was found in the literature to be mostly occurring on the occlusal / incisal surfaces of all teeth and tooth surfaces.LyssnaConclusion: There is no common index in the articles but many of them use the TWI.
Plackavlägsnande effekt : jämförelse mellan manuell och elektrisk tandborste
Munhälsan är en viktig del av allmänhälsan som kan påverka livskvaliteten. Plack har betydelse för munhälsan och kan vara en bidragande faktor till utveckling av parodontala sjukdomar och karies. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att jämföra den plackavlägsnande effekten med användning av manuell och elektrisk tandborste.Studien utfördes som en allmän litteraturstudie och materialet samlades in genom sökning av vetenskapliga artiklar i databasen Pub Med. Sökorden var ?dental plaque?, ?plaque?, ?dental biofilm?, ?electric toothbrush?, ?power toothbrush? och ?manual toothbrush?.Resultatet baserades på en sammanställning av 15 vetenskapliga artiklar.
Humant papillomvirus som riskmarkör för utveckling av prolifererande verrukös leukoplaki
Prolifererande verrukös leukoplaki, PVL, är en ovanlig sjukdom som yttrar sig genom multipla, vita förändringar i munslemhinnan som recidiverar och med tiden riskerar att utvecklas till cancer. Diagnosen kan endast ställas kliniskt när sjukdomsförloppet pågått under lång tid och det finns heller inga effektiva behandlingsmetoder. Etiologin till sjukdomen är okänd, men idag vet man att det finns ett samband mellan cancerutveckling och vissa virustyper.
Syftet med studien är att undersöka om det går att påvisa humant papillom virus, HPV, i vävnadsprover från patienter som kan misstänkas ha PVL.
Urvalet bestod av 11 patientfall, där vävnadsprover från biobanken vid avdelningen för oral patologi, Malmö högskola, samlats in och studerats med kromogen in situ hybridisering. Resultaten visade en högre förekomst av HPV i biopsier tagna i det senare skedet av sjukdomen jämfört med tidigare biopsier.
