Vid ärftlighet och ökad risk för att drabbas av bröstcancer kan mastektomi göras i profylaktiskt syfte. Mastektomi är en behandling där hela bröstet opereras bort, ibland båda brösten.

Att drabbas av kronisk inflammatorisk tarmsjukdom (IBD) innebär en stor förändring i barns och ungdomars liv. Barn och ungdomar genomgår en snabb och omfattande kroppslig, social och kognitiv utveckling som kan påverkas av en kronisk sjukdom. De två huvudsakliga diagnoserna är Crohns sjukdom och ulcerös kolit och de vanligaste symtomen är buksmärtor och frekventa avföringar som kommer utan förvarning. Barn och ungdomar med IBD genomgår många undersökningar och behöver regelbunden kontakt med sjukvården. Syftet med studien är att beskriva barns och ungdomars upplevelse av att leva med kronisk inflammatorisk tarmsjukdom.
