The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to investigate the female reader of science fiction literature, a genre by tradition dominated by men. Through qualitative interviews with seven female science fiction readers, the relation between the reading and the readers? lives, as well as their concepts of the science fiction genre and the community of science fiction readers, was examined. The main theoretical framework used for the analysis was Yvonne Hirdman?s gender theory, Judith Butler?s concept of identity and Louise M.

In what way can text contribute to the reception of an art work?In this essay I examine the role of language and how it, in selected works from the artists Sejla Kameric, Barbara Kruger and Jenny Holzer, becomes part of the deconstruction and exposure of social structures and issues of gender. My aim is to examine whether this deconstruction of rules and structures helps to bring about a forming of a female subject in oppsition to the more common female object..

While the strategy of lending a voice to the monstrous is a well known aspect of Howard Phillips Lovecraft's works, the female monster is a notable exception to this case. In this thesis, I excavate a theory of female monstrosity through a reading of some of Lovecraft's most read stories and the agency of female characters that appears within. Comparing these female registers of monstrosity to their masculine counterpart, I develop a concept of female monstrosity manifested through categories of class, race and gender with the help of Judith Halberstams theories of monstrosity.Rather than treating these women as active characters, I argue that Lovecraft's inability to handle these monsters forces him to literally put them away ? in attics, cellars, or boxes. These are the marginalized positions from which these women elaborate a monstrous form that transcends the boundaries of sex, gender, class and race.

Tomarps Kungsgård ligger i nordvästra Skåne, i Åstorps kommun, Södra åsbo härad. Gården kom i svenska kronans ägo år 1660, som ett av de så kallade Bornholmska vederlagsgodsen, och lades då till de svenska kungsgårdarna. Under hela 1700-talet och en bra bit in på 1800-talet fungerade gården som översteboställe vid Norra Skånska kavalleriregementet, varefter den har arrenderats ut till lantbrukare. Idag förvaltas den av Statens Fastighetsverk i samarbete med Tomarps Kungsgård HB, som bedriver galleriverksamhet, samt lantbrukare som brukar jorden. Det första skriftliga belägget för någon slags verksamhet vid Tomarp, närmare bestämt fiske i Rönne å, är från år 1303. Troligen anlades det vid denna tid en kvadratisk ringmursborg på platsen för dagens kungsgård.

Under 1500 och 1600-talen upplevde det nuvarande Peru en period av förändringar i alla avseenden, inte minst i religiösa. Inkariket som var en teokratisk stat, blev erövrat av spanjorerna som hade kommit till den nya världen med en ?ny? tro, katolicismen. En tro som påtvingades urinvånarna utan minsta hänsyn till deras religioner som betraktades som avgudadyrkan.Genom min studie där jag gjort en analytisk tolkning av indianernas historia, deras religiösa liv och dess utveckling, har jag kommit fram att spanjorernas olika metoder mot avgudadyrkan, gav upphov till en ny religion. En quechua katolicism som kom ur och anpassades till den indianska verkligheten.

The purpose of this investigation is to reveal those hidden factors, which influence how leadership is practised, as well as the roles male and female play in their professions. Furthermore this investigation aims to elude the expectations and demands that leaders experience and their origin.The investigation is based on six interviews of senior managers, two male and four female. A qualitative approach has been utilized to penetrate the subject and understanding of the identified phenomenon. The theories employed to analyse the finding are Lincoln, Gerth & Mills and Merton. To further highlight certain specific results parts of Ahrne, Beck & Beck-Gernsheim theories have also been empoyeed.

Objektet för min studie är Pow-Wow, en grupp som arbetar mot rasism och mobbning på en svensk grundskola. Syftet med uppsatsen är att genom en kvalitativ undersökning titta närmare på hur Pow-Wow, har startats, genomförts och utvecklats. Utgångspunkten är att liknande grupper som arbetar mot rasism är sällsynta i svenska skolor. Därför är det speciellt intressant att titta närmare på hur det kommer sig att Pow-Wow startades på skolan och varför verksamheten har kunnat överleva så länge. För att kunna besvara dessa frågor har jag intervjuat skolans nuvarande rektor, skolans före detta rektor, de två lärare som arbetar med Pow-Wow och en elev som var med under Pow-Wows första år.

More precisely, examining how the regulatory framework and policies regarding refugees' and migrant situation effects practical implementation. The research questions raised are; - How are refugees and other migrants' rights in Greece respected, from a legal, political and moral perspective? What impact can racism have on the treatment of refugees and other migrants? A contextual analysis of ideas through an analysis of the political programs/agendas was used and contrasted, through theories concerning racism, nationalism and globalization to further nuance the situation concerning refugees' rights.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the law regarding gross violations of women and its application in the Swedish legal system. We have investigated how the legal system takes into account a holistic perspective of the vulnerable situation of women in the investigation and assessment and the extent to which psychological violence in the form of verbal abuse, threats and harassment attention. We also wanted to find out how the law's design may contribute to difficulties in the implementation and interpretation of it. In this study, we used a qualitative research approach when we decided to conduct an interview with a police officer and a textual analysis of four cases from the district court. Interview questions were semi-structured in order to gain a deeper understanding of the phenomenon.

This paper aims at assessing the relationship between female and male part-time employment and the business cycle in Sweden during the years 1987?2005 using quarterly time-series data and two alternative indicators of the business cycle. It further aims at determining whether the share of women working part-time has changed over time. Key results include that the relationship between the business cycle and female part-time employment is found to be significant and countercyclical. No significant effect is however found for men.

Tomarps Kungsgård är belägen nordost om Kvidinge, mellan Åstorp och Klippan i Skåne. Examensarbetet är ett resultat av samarbete mellan Statens Fastighetsverk (SFV), brukarna vid Tomarp och Kompetensområde 6, Landskapsarkitektur, planering, design och kulturarv, vid Sveriges Lantbruksuniversitet (SLU), Alnarp och är skrivet på D-nivå. Ämnet för examensarbetet är trädgårdshistoria, vilken beskrivs under perioden 1614-1658. Under denna period ägde riksrådet Owe Giedde (1594?1660) Tomarp och Skåne var danskt. Målet med examensarbetet sammanfaller med besvarandet av två frågeställningar: vad användes trädgården vid Tomarp till under 1600-talets mitt och andra hälft och vilket växtmaterial kan ha använts i trädgården.

Denna uppsats är en studie av rapporteringen av terroristattentaten i Madrid 2004, London 2005 och Moskva 2010 i Dagens Nyheter. Genom Van Dijk och Faircloughs diskursanalys har jag analyserat fem artiklar ifrån morgontidningen. Med anledning till fördelningen mellan väst och öst, och bilden som skapats av dessa i media, har jag gjort en studie i ?vi? och ?dem? relaterade perspektiv. Där Madrid och London fått representera det västerländska medan Moskva stått för det österländska.
