The aim of this thesis is to create an understanding of the incentives for forest companies to invest in reducing carbon dioxide emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, which is termed REDD. The Brazilian Amazonas was chosen as the base for the investment case. Brazil has the largest area of rainforest in the world, and also the biggest problem with deforestation. The Amazon region of Brazil comprises rainforest which is largely intact and unexploited. Accordingly, there is significant potential scope for prospective investments in a REDD-project, and so have a noteworthy impact in preventing deforestation.The research approach used the United Nation?s Clean Development Mechanism concept was used as a framework for ascertaining the investment costs in potential REDD-projects.

Denna rapport är resultatet av ett examensarbete utfört på Karlstads Universitet och Linköpings Universitet, Campus Norrköping. Syftet med arbetet är att undersöka om en GCR-metoden vid namn Optimal Färgbaserad GCR är applicerbar i o ffsettryck, hur punktförstoringen påveras när i färgtryck och undersöka möjligheten för en metod som experimentellt separerar och optisk och mekanisk punktförstoring.Optimal Färgbaserad GCR fungerar så att givet en uppsättning CMY så returneras två primärfärger och svart som matchar CMY uppsättningen bäst i CIE L*a*b*-rymden. Det har visat sig att punktförstoringen är en viktig faktor som påverkar prestandan för Optimal Färgbaserade GCR-metoden så studier av punktförstoringen utfördes. Resultatet var att när det konventionella tillvägagångssättet, punktförstoringskurvor, användes så returnerade beräkningar ett stort Efel.Det visade sig att den felaktiga hanteringen av den optiska punktförstoringen i punktförstoringskurvs-approachen var anledningen till felet. På grund av den naturliga skillnaden mellan optisk och mekanisk punktförstoring, tanken (som används i punktförstoringskurvs-approachen) att representera den optiska punktförstoringen som en geometrisk area är felaktig.

AbstractThe school today has an assignment to Offset traditional gender patterns as well as to create opportunities for all pupils to achieve the same good results in school regardless of sex, ethnicity and conditions. The educator?s assignment is determined by governing documents, and the educator plays a role in helping the pupil find their equal role in society. This means that the educator needs to work in a way that Offsets traditional gender patterns and require approaches that would benefit equal opportunities for both boys and girls to achieve good results.The purpose of the study was, through interviews, to get an idea of how primary school teachers from a gender equal perspective perceive how they see them relate to boys and girls in their teachings. The study is based on the presumptions that the pupils have but focusing on the relationship between school achievements and equality.The study brings up concepts like gender theories, equality, the biological sexes, the history of the schools development and changes in acceptance of boys and girls and the role of the governing documents to reach acceptable achievements.

Due to global climate change and the rising levels of greenhouse gases (GHG) in the atmosphere, the interest for seeking solutions for mitigation has increased. While much attention has been directed towards technical solutions such as carbon capture and storage (CCS), biogenic carbon sinks has also garnered significant attention. Previous studies have shown that coastal ecosystems such as seagrass meadows and mangroves have a much greater capacity for storing carbon (C) compared to terrestrial ecosystems. That raises the question if other coastal ecosystems, such as coastal wetland forests, that previously haven?t been considered as blue carbon habitats also contribute to coastal carbon sink capacity.

På senare år har en ny trend inom miljöarbetet uppstått. Istället för att bara vara miljövänliga tar vissa företag och organisationer det hela ett steg längre och klimatkompenserar för de utsläpp de har. Företag som klimatkompenserar hävdar att de gör allt de kan för att först och främst minska de direkta utsläpp som de förorsakar. Som en sista åtgärd, för att ytterligare minska företagets påverkan på miljön, kompenserar företagen för sina utsläpp genom att delta i något miljöfrämjande projekt. De bakomliggande motiven till att klimatkompensera är främst ett starkt miljöengagemang inom företaget sedan tidigare.

Vad gäller reglerna om tidigare års underskott utgör koncernbidragsspärren en spärregel till den annars gällande huvudregeln att tidigare års förluster får kvittas mot framtida vinster. Koncernbidragsspärren inträder vid ägarförändringar och innebär förenklat att ett underskottsföretag är förhindrat att, under en period om fem år, kvitta kvarstående underskott mot koncernbidrag som underskottsföretaget mottar från företag som inte ingick i koncernen före ägarförändringen (nya företag). Underskott som uppkommer efter ägarförändringen får dock kvittas mot koncernbidrag från nya företag.Uppsatsen syftar till att analysera och granska reglerna om koncernbidragsspärren ur ett företagsperspektiv, vilket innebär att uppsatsen ser till reglernas bakomliggande syfte och till hur reglerna fungerar vid en praktisk tillämpning. Uppsatsen har ett särskilt fokus kring i vilken turordning koncernbidrag ska beaktas vid avräkning mot befintliga underskott när ett underskottsföretag mottar koncernbidrag både från gamla och nya företag i en koncern. The idea for this project was initiated together with one of the leaders in the forest, paper and packaging industry. To get through an A/R CDM process the company is exposed to the risk of failing the process or that the overall costs will exceed the benefits of the project. This would delete the incentives to invest in GHG removals compared to purchasing emission allowances on the carbon market. The questions that have been raised and needs clarification in the thesis are the following:? From a company perspective, what are the incentives for implementing Forest Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects?? What is a likely financial outcome of a reforestation CDM project on degraded land in the Guangxi province of the Peoples Republic of China?? When does an investment like this break even with the cost of buying market based carbon emission allowances? The objective of this master thesis is to carry out a research about the incentives for forest, paper and packaging companies to invest in reforestation through the clean development mechanism.

Vattenfall hedge its future electricity production in order to decrease fluctuations in theresult. Hedging can in a simplified way be described as selling the future electricity deliveriesin long-term contracts so that the future price of the delivery becomes fixed. The contractsused are electricity forwards traded at the Nordic electricity market Nord Pool. Animbalance between buyers and sellers can lead to a situation where the forward price notequals the expected spot price. The difference between the forward price and the expectedspot price is referred to as the market risk premium.

Examensarbetet har utförts med fokus på konstruktion av kraftapplikationsutrustning till provrigg för kalibrering av järnvägshjul. Arbetet har utförts på uppdrag av Interfleet Technology vilket är ett världsledande teknikkonsult bolag inom järnvägsindustrin. Tack vare sin unika teknologi kan ett godtyckligt järnvägshjul göras om till ett så kallat mäthjul. Mäthjulen används för att bland annat mäta spårkrafter och utvärdera spårfordons gångdynamiska egenskaper. Kalibrering och provning av utrustningen som mäthjulen utrustats med utförs i provriggen.

Italy is the third largest market in Europe with a population of almost 58 million. The country is the tenth most important market for Swedish sales. Italy has a fairly good economy at the moment and the forecast tells of an increasing strength during coming years. Despite all of this, Sweden is exporting a fairly small amount of wood to Italy. Only around 2,3 % of all Sweden?s wood export goes to Italy.
