Laboratory work is a big part of chemistry education in high school. During our student training placement we have noticed that the laboratory work is not fully utilized to develop students´ chemistry knowledge. This problem made us want to investigate how the laboratory work in chemistry could be set, to become more meaningful for students. We introduced two preparation methods, and examined the outcome of students learning experiences and their acquisition of chemistry knowledge. This was examined both through surveys and observation.

Syftet med det självständiga arbetet är att bidra med några nya kunskaper kring hur läromiljöns utformning påverkar elevers texter. I föreliggande arbete vill vi pröva om och i så fall hur läromiljöer påverkar elevtexter. Arbetet är framtaget i samband med ett intresse för läromiljöns utformning och påverkan. Utgångspunkten för arbetet är: Om och i så fall hur en läromiljö med utgångspunkt i att lära genom samspel, kommunikation, sinnen och erfarenheter kan påverka elevers texter? I tidigare forskning framkommer det hur det sociala samspelet används i undervisningen samt hur elevers individuella erfarenheter kan tas tillvara på.

I vårdandet av patienter som anses utgöra en fara för sig själv genom suicidrisk eller självskadebeteende har olika former av övervakning och observation sedan länge varit ett standardiserat förfarande. Den kritik som riktats mot omvårdnad av suicidnära patienter handlar om att de förfaranden med observation och övervakning som tillämpas upplevs som kränkande och ovärdiga då inget eller ytterst lite av vårdandet fokuserar på orsakerna till att patienten vill skada sig själv eller dö. Studiens syfte var att beskriva vårdande av suicidnära patienter och synliggöra hur sjuksköterskor ansar, leker och lär när de vårdar suicidnära patienter. Som design valdes en litteraturstudie med induktiv ansats samt analys enligt Evans (2002) som modifierades med vårdteoretisk tolkning utifrån Eriksson (1987). Resultatet visar att vårdandet innefattar sjuksköterskans förstående hållning, att skapa en säker och trygg vårdmiljö samt att tillvarata patientens egna resurser.

När människan åldras medför det en förändrad fysiologi och metabolism vilket ökar risken att drabbas av undernäring. Mat är mer än bara näringsintag, det är även ett sätt att umgås, socialisera och njuta. Måltiderna på ett äldreboende styrs av många hygienregler, näringsrekommendationer och policydokument som bland annat berör måltidsmiljö, måltidsordning samt matens innehåll av näringsämnen och energi.  Ett syfte med studien var att identifiera och beskriva vad som gynnar och hindrar ätandet hos äldre på ett äldreboende, ett ytterligare syfte var att studera, analysera och värdera måltidssituationen utifrån ett gastronomiskt perspektiv. I denna studie har vi beräknat näringsintag med hjälp av vägd kostregistrering under fem dygn hos åtta brukare på en enhet vid ett äldreboende och jämfört näringsintaget mot Livsmedelsverkets rekommendationer. Dessutom har vi undersökt och värderat måltidssituationen utifrån deltagande observation.

This master thesis concerns itself with the actual work of knowledge workers, consultants to be specific. We have through interviews and observation tried to get inside of the ?black box? of the consultants firm Consult in an effort to describe their way of working through a theoretical framework. In this framework we attempt to combine knowledge work theory with that of organizational development, OD. We try to introduce the situation of the individuals we study, the consultants, through Alvesson (2004) and Løwendahl (2005).

This study deals with the concept of ?integration?. Starting from the concept of reality as socially and linguistically constructed, it is an attempt to see how lingual constructions and perceptions affect the official structures of society and vice versa. The main purpose is to compare the different meanings integration has in a sociological context and in a political one. Further, the purpose is to see how the relationship between the sociological and political concepts affects the integrational work in the Swedish County Administrative Boards, and which consequences these effects might have.

How does IT-consultants reason in their consulting process regarding the development of a clients IT-based internal recruitment system? The purpose with this paper is to investigate how an IT-consultant is reasoning in a consulting process and investigate whether consultants are using established models and methods in their work. We have chosen to work with a qualitative examination to attain our purpose. In our work gathering the empirical facts we have been working with a case study, an observation and a simulation exercise. The combination of these has made it possible to carry out the paper and produce the most correct data possible.

This article is about Abrahams Children foundation and its teaching method called IE- method. It?s about how a teacher can use the IE- method in the religion lesson. There were some questions in this article that had to be answered and the questions are:- How is the form of the religion classes when a teacher uses the IE- method?- What happens in the class when you study the interaction and the communication?- Does the student?s participation increase when they work with the IE- method?- What are the advantage and the disadvantage with the IE- method?- Can the teacher use the IE- method in other classes?To get to the ?correct? answer I used many methods like, observation in the class, qualitative interview with the teacher (Lisa Andersson) and with four students (Kim, Erik, Amanda, Patrik) and I also used questionnaire.

A number of studies in human medicine has documented positive effects of whole body vibration treatment in humans. The Vitafloor system, witch is based on treatment of horses with vibration, has the purpose to be used in training of healthy horses and as rehabilitation for horses with injuries in their musculosceletal system. The purpose of this study was to analyse what happens with a clinically healthy horse during treatment with Vitafloor. The methods used is mainly thermography before and after treatment, but also blood samples, measurement of rectal temperature, heart rate, clinical examination and observation of psychic reactions has been done. Statistic significant changes in skin temperature in hoofs and fetlocks of front legs has been observed after treatment with Vitafloor. Analyzing of the blood samples showed a tendency for decrease in Kalium, and two of the horses had changes in CK. No negative effect has been observed with the treatment of horses with Vitafloor, and the horses seems to like the treatment. .

Bakgrund; Smärta är en obehaglig upplevelse. Upplevelsen av smärta är unik och beskrivs utifrån individens erfarenheter. Att förmedla smärta kan ske både verbalt och icke verbalt. Individens förmåga att kommunicera verbalt kan påverkas av demenssjukdom, vilket kan medföra svårighet att identifiera smärta hos denna grupp av personer.Syfte; Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att belysa hur smärta hos äldre personer med demenssjukdom identifieras.Metod; Författarna har gjort en systematisk litteraturstudie där sökningar gjorts i databaserna Cinahl och PubMed. Sammanlagt sex artiklar, både av kvalitativ och av kvantitativ karaktär, är inkluderade i denna litteraturstudie.

This report investigates digital games with focus on differences and similarities between children?s point of view when it comes to games focusing on learning compared to those focusing on entertainment. The approached group was children, 7 years old. The study contains investigations and analysis of how these children used games in both school and home environment. The most used theory ?8 theories of fun? by Marc LeBlanc (2004) raises the most important parts making a game fun.

Abstract This essay is about the visibility of everyday life in a nursing home. The thesis is based on the following questions: What characterizes the social life and conversation between staff and residents? What content has the social life and the conversation between these parties? What is the power relationship between the staff and residents? To answer these questions, we used the qualitative approach with open observations, along with interviews. The study is partly based on direct observation by an observer as a participant in a special housing, and on semi-structured interviews with seven respondents, three of them staff and four residents in the same nursing home. For the results and analysis section, we use the Grounded Theory as a method which constructs a parallel between data processing and analysis of the interviews, where we first encode, categorize and create themes.

The purpose of this bachelor?s thesis is to examine how students at Högskolan i Borås experience the web-scale discovery service Summon, based on the theoretical model of ?The Five Dimensions of Usability?, defined by Whitney Quesenbery. The study aims to answer the following research questions: How do the students execute search assignments in the Summon interface? How intuitive and easy to navigate is the system from a user perspective? What are the students? opinions about Summon, regarding usability?Five students with varying information seeking skills are asked to perform search assignments during controlled observation, followed by semi-structured interviews. Our findings are presented in the context of previous research and show correspondence with the results of related studies.

Syftet med denna undersökning var att genom aktionsforskning undersöka hur elever i en geografiklass lärde sig om hållbar utveckling genom att arbeta med projektet "Hållbar stad". Jag använde mig av sociokulturell teori då jag planerade projektet och analyserade resultaten. Jag ville undersöka och analysera hur effektiva artefakterna och arbetssätten var. Genom självreflektion och samtal med min lokala lärarutbildare, LLU, kunde jag även analysera min egen insats och skapa en förståelse som kan hjälpa mig som lärare. Metoden jag använde mig av var aktionsforskning som realiserades med följande faser: planering, aktion, observation och reflektion som följde varandra. Aktionsfasen bestod av sex lektionstillfällen som genomfördes i en gymnasieklass i ämnet geografi.

The first aim of this study is to describe how the public employment service (PES) producesoccupational descriptions. The second aim is to analyse the conditions for that production.Method: The empiric material consists of seven qualitative interviews with employed at PES,operational plan for the team working with descriptions on occupations and observation notes.The overall theme in the study is Foucaults perspective on power. The conditions forproduction of occupational descriptions are understood in the light of the governmentality perspectiveand the concept of employability. Bourdieu´s concept habitus, symbolic violence and capital are usedto articulate the officials? values and experiences.Eight officials at PES produce the occupational descriptions.
