Veterinary hospital care and advanced veterinary services are rapidly growing industries. As of January 1, 2010, veterinary nursing became a licensed vocation, the title of veterinary Nurse became protected, and the act regulating competence among the professions of the veterinary field was extended. These changes, along with increased demands and expectations from owners, have given rise to greater demands on the staff's qualifications and have increased the need for well-educated staff with expertise in several different areas. The aim of this study was to find out what the licensed veterinary Nurse can do in terms of rehabilitation for the hospitalized equine patient suffering from orthopedic injury. This has been carried out through qualitative interviews with veterinary surgeons experienced in treating such patients, and also by reviewing the relevant literature.

Background: The district Nurses profession has traditionally been health promotion. In order to find patients with excessive alcohol intake, district Nurses use AUDIT. Research shows that health professionals find it difficult to face alcohol abusers in primary care. AIM: The aim is to describe how district Nurses work with AUDIT. Method: Semi-structured interviews with six informants were carried out.

Triage, which means "to sort", determine the priority of the patients need of care. The aim of the present study was to describe Nurses? perception of triage at a pediatric emergency department. Background:Studies show that when Nurses are experiencing problems in the care of non-Swedish speaking patients, it is often due to obstacles in the communication. Studies also show that a prerequisite for adequate care is that there is a basis for a direct communication. Nurses perceive interpreters as an important link to the patient when they do not share a mutual language, the Nurses perceive interpreters as a bridge in the conversation.Aim:The purpose of the study is to describe Nurses' experiences of the quality of assessments done with the help of an interpreter.Method:The study was conducted through interviews with ten Nurses, working at psychiatric clinics. Qualitative content analysis was used for the analysis, which resulted in five categories.Results:The analysis resulted in one theme: "it´s the interpreter who tells me and have not the feeling that the patient has" and five categories: "shades of the language", "conversation structure", "the interpreter's competence", "interpreting implementing" and "the interpreter's gender and origin". The Nurses experience working with interpreters as a challenge.

Background: Corporal punishment has been banned in Sweden since 1979. Child abuse is known to exist in all cultures and social classes in our society. Therefore the Nurse must be aware of this working with children.Aim: The aim of this study was to describe how Nurses' can identify signs and symptoms of child abuse.Method: A literature review of ten articles containing six quantitative and four qualitative studies published between the years of 2000 and 2012. A content analysis was performed where similarities emerged in themes and subthemes.Results: The findings were signs and symptoms which concerns physical, psychological and social behaviors seen in child abuse. Additional findings were; an insecurity and lack of knowledge among Nurses working with children.

AbstractThe aim of this study was to illuminate and collect existing research from the beginning of the 21 st century about Nurses work environment in institutional and elderly care in Sweden.A literature review was made by analyzing eleven scientific articles. The result showed mainly information about Nurses work load. The information dealt with high work demands, too much responsibility, shortage of staff, time press and stress. Furthermore Nurses reported a lack of co-operation between staff and management. An important part in Nurses? work was appreciation from colleagues, management, patients and relatives.

Introduction: In the past years children in primary school age has become increasingly sedentary. One of the school Nurses' main task is to provide tools for students to make healthy choices. During the health visit, the school Nurse gets the opportunity to inform and talk about health and physical activity with the students.Aim: To describe how shool Nurses? work to motivate students to physical activity.Methods: The authors have conducted a pilot study that will form the basis for a large-scale study. Four Nurses were interviewed using an interview guide based on open-ended questions and a qualitative content analysis was used when the interviews were analyzed.Results: The analysis revealed two categories and four subcategories.

The purpose of this essay was to examine female and male nursing students expectations and goals referring to the nursing profession from a gender perspective and examining the students reasons to apply for nursing school. A descriptive study with qualitative design was implemented. Data acquisition was made through interviewing ten Nurse students, five male and five female. The interview material were analysed in accordance with Kvale?s method of analyzing.

Syfte: Föreliggande litteraturstudies syfte var att belysa sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av deras arbete i den palliativa vården. Problemformuleringen grundades av att författarna anser att det inte läggs så stor vikt vid palliativ vård i undervisningen i grundutbildningen för sjuksköterskor och att sjuksköterskor möter patienter i ett palliativt skede nästan överallt i vården och förhoppningen är att studien ska leda till ökad förståelse för sjuksköterskans arbetssituation. Metod: Databassökningar gjordes i ELIN@kalmar, Cinahl, PubMed och PsycInfo med sökorden palliative care, caring, nursing, Nurse, hospice, work, support, experience, specialist, district Nurse. Ytterligare sökningar gjordes sent i arbetet med andra sökord i Cinahl och PubMed. Efter granskning inkluderades totalt 10 artiklar.

För att ge föräldrarna i den svenska barnhälsovården ett bra och individuellt stöd är det viktigt att det skapas en god vårdrelation mellan föräldrar och sjuksköterska. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att belysa de faktorer som är betydelsefulla för vårdrelationen mellan föräldrar och sjuksköterska i barnhälsovården i Sverige. Studien genomfördes som en litteraturstudie. Nio vetenskapliga kvantitativa och kvalitativa artiklar granskades avseende vetenskaplig kvalité och analyserades därefter. I resultatet framkom fyra kategorier av faktorer som påverkar vårdrelationen mellan föräldrar och sjuksköterska i barnhälsovården.

BackgroundResearch shows that the majority of patients feel anxiety before and during anesthesia. It has been shown in several studies that preoperative anxiety may cause adverse effects in the postoperative course. Nurse anesthetists have a key role in creating a safe environment and the opportunity to use different interventions to reduce the degree of anxiety.AimThe aim of the study was to examine which interventions may reduce anxiety in adult patients before and during both general, local and regional anesthesia.DesignSystematic literature review with a quantitative approach.ResultsSeveral studies indicate that gabapentin and pregabalin can reduce anxiety before and during anesthesia. The anxiety reducing effect appeared to be dose dependent. The naturopathic drugs Citrus aurantium blossom and Passiflora incarnata Linneaus were found to reduce anxiety before anesthesia.
