Får man skriva så här? : En feministisk undersökning av mottagandet i recensioner i svensk dagspress av fyra romaner med bekännelsekaraktär
The purpose with this thesis is to examine how four Novels with a trait of confession written between 1996 and 2001 have been received in the Swedish daily press. This is done from a feministic perspective. The study is based on 36 reviews and the method which is used consists of a close-reading of the reviews, where the following questions are asked to the texts: Are there examples of reception in sexual analogies?; Are the Novels ascribed a status of universality or are they considered to be something private?; How does the reviewers comment the exposure of the authors themselves and persons close to them?; What does the positive versus negative criticism concentrate on?; How does the reviewers comment the sexual element in the Novels? The theoretical framework focuses on how womens literature has been treated in literary criticism and the treatment of the confession Novels in the 1970s. The analysis of the reviews has, among many other things, showed that the Novels mostly are regarded as something private; that the reviewers for different reasons question the publishing of the Novels and that there are things concerning women and sexuality that is not accepted to write about.
Hur ser samhällsinformationen ut i ungdomslitteraturen? - En studie av svenska samtidsrealistiska ungdomsromaner 1990-1994

We reviewed youth literature and its history in brief, including itscommencement and development from separate boys' and girls' Novels to a common youthnovel after the Second World War.To obtain a clearer picture and a better understanding of youths, we read non-fiction, such asbooks, magazines and articles, concerning youth culture, its meaning and content. We decidedto review the period 1990-1994 more closely. We therefore set up selection criteria whichfinally resulted in 56 youth Novels. We examined these Novels to determine if and/or how theymatched the nine preselected areas that we felt were typical for the 1990's.
Nätet spinns vidare : Hur används Internet i ungdomsromanen?
The essay is a text centred study of ten Young Adult Novels, in which Internet plays an essential part. The structure is put into light out of used narrative techniques of how to create stories and its construction elements. I compare the ten Young Adult Novels to each other. My aim is to analyze the functions of the Internet motive in the chosen Novels, using different approaches, and enlighten it with concerns to the new phenomenon that Internet is in society. Consequently the essay will also have a mimetic touch to it.The ten Novels that I base the analysis on are written of both med and women and have both male and female as main fictive persons, and are from different parts of the world.

The purpose of this Bachelor's thesis is to study the reasoning behind classification, cataloging and shelf arrangement of nonfiction graphic Novels in public libraries. The aim was to examine which aspects of accessibility influence in which collection nonfiction graphic Novels are placed. With qualitative semi-structured interviews we learned how six librarians motivated their choices concerning nonfiction graphic Novels. We also interviewed a cataloger from Bibliotekstjänst to examine how nonfiction graphic Novels are classified. In our analysis we compared our results to theories and practices concerning alternative shelf arrangements in libraries and legitimization of graphic Novels. We found three types of shelf arrangements for nonfiction graphic Novels: graphic novel shelf, nonfiction classification code and a mix of the two.

Samtiden och framtiden: En studie av mottagandet av två svenska dystopier och deras samtidsförankring
The aim of this Masters thesis is to deepen the understanding of how society affects literary criticism by studying the reception of two Swedish dystopian Novels and their contemporary anchorage. The questions that we answer here are concerned with how critics have drawn parallels between the Novels and events occurring in the contemporary society, and how the critics outlook on the future are connected to ideas about the future in the Novels. The first novel, Kallocain 1940 by Karin Boye has been interpreted as a critical statement directed towards totalitarian ideologies. The second novel, After the Flood 1982 by P C Jersild, has been seen as a warning against nuclear warfare. This qualitative study is based on 41 reviews from Swedish daily press.
Är du kvar på ditt gamla dammiga bibliotek? Bilden av bibliotekarien i svensk skönlitteratur 1982-2002
The aim of this Masters thesis is to examine how the images of librarians are conceived and held by the public. It has often been claimed that librarians are subject to widely spread negative stereotyping. My purpose is to study the nature and origin of these stereotypes. Since popular media is one source of these stereotypes and images I have chosen to look into how librarians are characterized in 20 Swedish Novels written between 1982-2002. The questions this thesis aims to answer are: What images of librarians occur in the Novels? How are the tasks of the librarians respectively described in the Novels? How are female and male librarians respectively described? The analysis of the Novels is then compared with interviews with three professional librarians about their view of their professional role and their perceptions of its status and image.
Vi och Dem : en analys av skapandet av "den Andre" i Den ovillige fundamentalisten och Pojken i randig pyjamas
My paper, ?Us and Them ? an analysis of the creation of ?the Other? in The Reluctant Fundamentalist and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas?, aims to examine Mohsin Hamid´s and John Boyne´s Novels from the years 2007 and 2008. The paper tries to answer the following questions: How is ?the Other?and?Us and Them?created in the Novels? And: What consequences does the thinking in terms of ?the Other?and?Us and Them?lead to in the Novels? The examination is done through the method of close reading and by applying the theory of Orientalism and Edward W. Said?s analysis of the theory to the reading. It is, I believe, of utmost importance for teachers to create unity among their pupils, and peaceful and democratic classrooms where co-work is promoted.

"I will go now to my pyre" : Isaks bindande läst genom J.R.R. Tolkiens The Lord of the Rings
This paper investigates the science fiction Novels of Swedish crime writer Per Wahlöö, most famous for his collaboration with his writing partner Maj Sjöwall on the ten Martin Beck mysteries. During two important years, 1964 and 1968, Wahlöö wrote the Novels Murder On the 31st Floor and The Steel Spring, set in a near future land ruled by a social fascist power structure where political opposition is eradicated. The pretexted notion of this paper is that these Novels consists of extensive quantities of criticism against the Swedish welfare state and the monopoly-capitalistic Swedish press during the sixties. Through the lens of science fiction theory and the notion of the Novels as historical sources this paper concludes that PerWahlöö´s science fiction becomes a bridge between the classic Swedish detective novel and the new social critic crime fiction in the style of Sjöwall-Wahlöö and others. The Novels are also representations of the historical process in the mid-sixties during the radical turn: the sci-fi Novels as social criticism of the contemporary society ? an utopian flare.

JAG - Vem är det? : En studie om bilden av identitetssökandet hos unga flickor och pojkar i 2010 års barn- och ungdomslitteratur
Last spring I did a study where I studied how young girls where being depicted in Swedish Novels of 2010. My ambition with this exam is to study how young teenage boys are being depicted in Swedish Novels of 2010 and to compare this study and the results with the results from my study last spring. Throughout history we can see that boy?s Novels have had the purpose to bring up boys into being adventurous. In the Novels of 2010 we can see that boys now are being depicted in another more modern and contemporary way. From my analysis we can see that all the books have many things in common.
