Timber floating operations in Scandinavia during the 19th and 20th centuries has contributed to severe negative impacts on riverine ecosystems. Increase in water velocity and lack of stream bed heterogeneity as a result of stream channelization lead to increased bed load transport. Since availability and recruitment of new suitable spawning substrate in Scandinavian watercourses is sparse, spawning habitats for salmonids has become a scarce commodity. Lately, increasingly more attention has been given to the recreation and improvement of brown trout (Salmo trutta) spawning habitats in restoration projects. While much of the research on spawning habitat has been focused on evaluation of the influence that the constructed spawning grounds have on fish populations, few studies have been conducted to evaluate the persistence of these constructions over time. I evaluate erosion of constructed spawning beds as an effect of sediment transport attributable to water discharge.

The thesis in product development ? mechanical design includes 15 credits and was carried out during the spring of 2014 at Semcon in Eskilstuna. The task is to construct a special machine for positioning and orientation of a key blank found in six different shapes, the construction is a part of a larger machine for encoding the key blank where a pick- and-place device or robot pick up the key blank and deliver it further in the process. The entire construction is designed for ASSA OEM Gothenburg.In order to accomplish the project the first step was to analyze the existing solutions to similar problems on the market in a current situation analysis to create an understanding of the problem. This was followed by a flow analysis and a functional analysis to get a deeper understanding of the problem and structuring the machine's process flow and its features.

The purpose of this thesis was to describe what factors influence consumers? choice when buying probiotic products. Functional Foods have been predicted a bright future on the food market but so far the concept have not been embraced by the consumers. The reasons for this are many and not clearly understood. Positive health effects are what set a functional food product apart from traditional food stuffs of the same type.

The following chapters examine landscape architecture which engages in contested territories with an emphasis on the way in which landscape architecture can engage with the issues of divided cities or landscapes with similar social, cultural and physical properties. The project focuses specifically on the potential landscape architecture has for promoting or aiding in the reconciliation process of these areas, by examining the following questions. How can landscape architecture be used to benefit the peace building process of divided cities and landscapes? How can landscape architecture be used in the process of promoting spatial reconciliation in the case of Belfast? The investigation begins with a description of the background to the project in Chapter 1, which functions as a brief introduction to the urban phenomena that is divided cities. It then goes on to introduce the different methods and data employed in order to answer the research questions in Chapter 2. After introducing the problem and the methodology, a global overview of divided cities is performed in Chapter 3. This chapter is divided into two sections.

In order to understand the human impact on today?s remaining ?virgin? forest and to develop sensible management strategies for future reserves, it is necessary to know how these forests have developed. This knowledge can be gained by using forest history analysis. here are large areas of forests still untouched by modern forestry in the mountainous region in the county of Norrbotten. These forests are highly interesting study objects from an ecological and historical point of view.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the reasons a religious minority leader has to convert to a larger religious group and how the leader chooses to communicate this event in certain daily press. In March 2014 the leader and founder of the Christian and charismatic movement ?Livets Ord? (Words of Life), Ulf Ekman, announced his decision converting to the Roman Catholic Church after a 10 year long process of thinking. The communications of Ekman?s linguistic language in the articles are discussed through two discourse analyzing perspective, Laclau & Mouffe?s and Fairclough?s.

In the democratic process, of discussion and decision making, there is a need of reliable and authentic information. Archives are authentic and reliable information and also provides long term accessibility. But the public archives potential isn´t utilized enough at a societal level. The public archives are organized in a decentralised manner, and there are no common accesspoint at a national level. In the thesis this issue of accessibility and use at a societal level, is discussed in terms of collective memory.

Aktiviteterna erbjuds på särskilt utvalda platser av professionell personal. Genom reflektion individuellt och i grupp kan erfarenheterna överföras till deltagarnas vardag. I processen ses naturen som en co-terapeut och som en katalysator som kan underlätta en individuell förändringsprocess.

Studien fokuserar på vad pedagoger uppfattar att ett pedagogiskt förhållningssätt är och vilka innebörder som skapas i relationen mellan pedagoger och barn samt vilka villkor och ramar som påverkar interaktionen mellan den vuxne och barnet i förskolan. Utgångspunkten är att ett pedagogiskt förhållningssätt är något som skapas i mötet mellan pedagog och barn i en social och pedagogisk praktik. Denna praktik ses som ett socialt konstruerat fenomen bestående av meningsskapande relationer. Teorin belyser det pedagogiska mötet både ur en modernistisk och ur en postmodern vinkel. Olika begrepp som tas upp och som ställs i relation till det pedagogiska mötet är kunskap, traditioner och etisk dimension.

Stem rust, Puccinia graminis, has caused enormous yield losses throughout history which have had significant consequences for oat and wheat production. Today in Sweden stem rust is only reported from rye, oats and wild grasses. Stem rust infections in wheat have become unusual due to the general use of resistant wheat varieties and also due to the eradication of barberry, Berberis vulgaris, the alternate host for P. graminis. Den svenska alternativrörelsen frodades under 1960- och 1970-talet och introducerade för det svenska folket en rad alternativa tankar om hur ett samhälle kan se ut. Rörelsen ifrågasatte tidigare givna auktoriteter och lyck­ades på det viset väcka den politiska debatten om bland annat miljö, jämställdhet och utrikespolitik.Carl Johan De Geer, än idag aktiv som konstnär, var en av de framträdande figurerna i den här rörelsen. En av hans gärningar var en framgångsrik affischproduktion under 1960-talet som uttryckte en politik i symbios med alternativrörelsens politik. De affischer från denna produktion som jag analyserar är: Yttrandefrihet på torget, Skända flaggan, USA mördare, Vägra vapen och ?Turkiet är inte bara...?. Jag har analyserat dessa affischer med en semiotisk bildanalys genom att ha delat upp affischerna i fyra olika meddelanden: det lingvistiska som behandlar texten, två meddelanden som fokuserar på bilden samt det multi­modala som undersöker texten och bildens samverkan.

The quality of a design can improve essentially through a participatory designprocess. Initially, The Mulberry School project was supposed to be finished in two months but the involvement of artist Scott G Burnham extended the work and brought a new dimension into the project. In the beginning, Scott and I both worked on the project unaware of each other. I was appointed by the architect to design the external areas of the school and based on a site survey and analysis of the factors infl uencing the site I created a design proposal with the concept form and function. At the same time Scott performed a series of workshops initiated by the school. The purpose and goal was to include the students in the redevelopment of the school and to produce a design based on the thoughts and wishes of the students.

This investigation indicates that there are regions within Europe that seems to have similar preferences and priorities regarding pike angling travels to Sweden. Swedish pike angling facilities process in first hand markets with favourable economic circumstances and a cultural interest for pike angling. There was a big differences in features between the Northern, Western, Eastern and Southern regions of Europe. They also seems to be tied to specific regions within some of the nations.The regions have diverse requirements and distinguish in terms of consumption and preferences regarding different aspects of pike angling. From there it is possible to divide pike angling tourists into segments.

CoMap är ett verktyg framtaget av FOI (Totalförsvarets forskningsinstitut) för att stödja beslutsfattaren fatta dynamiska beslut. CoMap gör det möjligt att se omvärlden på en karta i såväl 2D som 3D.Studien ämnar besvara frågor om vilken visualiseringsdimension som föreligger den bästa prestationen i dynamiskt beslutsfattande samt hur prestationen förändras i förhållande till visualiseringsdimensionen. Likaså hanterar studien frågor om informationshantering. Hur mängden information påverkar dynamiskt beslutsfattande samt hur mängden information upplevs hanterbar och i vilken utsträckning beslutsfattarna skattar att beslut grundats på delgiven information.

Wood has always been an important material for people, and it is used for many applications. As for example, fuel for cooking and heating houses, construction materials and for constructing means of transport. Since wood also is a material that with time biologically degrades due to activity by micro organisms and wood fungi it is important to find ways to protect and further lengthen the life span of the material when in service. One method is to decrease the amount of water in the material by impregnation with an hydrophobic oil. The Linotech method which uses only pure linseed oil is one such possible method. The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility to at the same time impregnate and stain/colour wood samples of pine and spruce by using the Linotech method.
