This essay aims to examine and compare Swedish and Norwegian social work with children. It is a comparative study between two social welfare offices, in districts with similar population and problems, one located in Stockholm and one in Oslo. The main questions were; how is the work organized and carried out, what type of help and assistance is available and what kind of discretion and powers do the social workers have. In our essay we used qualitative methods mostly based on interviews, vignette questionnaires and documents, but also written research. In our analysis we used modern organisation theory and street level bureaucracy to seek explanations.The two welfare offices have similarities and differences.

Informationskoncept om kommunikation och tjänster för Stockholm Stadsom skall kunna tas i bruk år 2010, året då Stockholm har som mål att varavärldens tillgängligaste stad. Hybrid aspen is a crossbreed between European and North American aspen. It is a fast growing tree species that has shown strong growth in the South of Sweden. The follow-ups that have been made on hybrid aspen stands, have mainly been done on plant material in the South of Sweden. In the North of Sweden, only occasional studies have been made, and the knowledge of Northern hybrid aspen stands is, thus, unsatisfactory.In the South of Norrland, land owners have planted hybrid aspen, but what kind of plants it is, and how well these stands have established, is not ascertained, since data has not been compiled on the subject.The objective of this study is to evaluate practical plantations of hybrid aspen in the South of Norrland regarding height growth, survival and damages. The ambition is to increase the knowledge about practical plantations regarding height growth, survival and damages, and from the conclusions thereof, give recommendations for future establishments of hybrid aspen in the area.For the study, eight hybrid aspen stands in the South of Norrland were localised.

The management at the City of Stockholm?s Sports Department have problems. During recent years several IT-projects have been launched but results are worse than could have been hoped for. The projects are generally perceived as being too expensive, too time consuming and not to have delivered the expected results. This thesis aims at giving the City of Stockholm?s Sports Department theoretically based advice on how to improve their management of IT-projects.

Syftet med detta arbete har varit att undersöka taxibranschen efter branschens avreglering, med fokus på Taxi Stockholm 15 00 00 AB. Denna innefattar den aktuella läge för taxibranschen i Stockholm och även den nya konkurrenssituationen hos taximarknaden i Stockholm efter avregleringen 1990. Denna undersökning bygger på en kvalitativ samt en kvantitativ metod då har vi försökt att noggrant få fram fakta om branschen med hjälp av både primärdata (intervjuer) och sekundärdata (årsredovisningar, ekonomiska rapporter, akademiska artiklar, Internet källor mm.). I analysen har utförts sedan en jämförelse mellan fallföretaget Taxi Stockholm och dess huvudkonkurrenter med hjälp av valda teorier och insamlade sekundär samt primärdata. Taxi Stockholm 15 00 00 AB som tackvare sin tidigare monopolinställning har haft en ledande position, på senare år förlorad marknadsandelar till sina konkurrenter.

This thesis is about the idea of public transport and the discussions stirred in the media during changes in ownership. More specifically it is a study of the historical situation of Stockholm, Sweden, where the periods chosen are the 1910s, 1960s and 1990s.During the 1910s Stockholm?s first and largest tram company was taken over by thecity, and a period of public ownership began, which in the 1960s changed form whenthe county council took over the city?s principal authority and formed the politicallyadministered company SL (Storstockholms Lokaltrafik, Greater Stockholm LocalTransit Company). Between these periods the word kollektivtrafik (public transport)was established in the Swedish language. This study describes and compares the ideasconcerning the phenomenon of public transport.The aim of the study is to analyse the ideas, values and ideals concerning public transport in the media, defined as newspapers.

The aim of this paper has been to examine personas role in the development phase and whether or not some of the criticism that have aroused against personas is valid or not. In this paper we examine the benefits as well as the downsides of working with personas both from a scientific point of view but also from the experiences of a small company located in the north of Sweden. Högbytorp is Ragn-Sells? largest waste facility and it is located north of Stockholm. There is an old landfill still in use, but at the end of this year it will be closed. The waste deposited on the landfill can, through decomposition, give rise to a large amount of methane gas, which is an energy rich gas that can be used for heat and electricity production. To receive a relatively large amount of gas, the decomposition requires a high moisture content in the waste.

Ordningsstörande kring allsvensk fotboll, främst i Stockholm har länge varit ett problem för samhället. I samband med dessa matcher begås skadegörelse, misshandel och ordningsstörningar i hög utsträckning och en allsvensk fotbollsmatch kan kosta uppemot 600 000 kronor. Syftet med denna rapport är att belysa de skyldigheter som polisen har i fråga om den allmänna ordningen och säkerheten kring allsvenska fotbollsmatcher i Stockholm. Vidare vill vi ta reda på om polisens utbildning är tillräcklig för att de ska klara av detta på ett bra sätt. Vi valde att intervjua yttre kommissarie Anders Sigurdsson vid Operativa avdelningen i Stockholm med anledning av att han är ansvarig för planering av insatser kring allsvenska fotbollsmatcher i Stockholm.

I denna uppsats studeras placeringen av svenska filmproduktionsbolag. Eftersom majoriteten av de svenska filmproduktionsbolagen förlagt sig i Stockholm, trots att hälften av all svensk långfilm produceras i Västra Götalandsregionen, studeras de olika spatiala förutsättningarna för filmproduktionsbolag förlagda på dessa båda platser. Den övergripande frågeställningen rör varför majoriteten av svenska filmproduktionsbolag är placerade i Stockholm. Det empiriska materialet har samlats in genom intervjuer med filmproduktionsbolag, filmföretag och samproducenten Film Väst. Baserat på klusterteorier kring lokalt surr, globala pipelines och temporära kluster, har materialet analyserats.

Learn more about furniture for public areasI contacted a furniture producer called Nola AB, in Stockholm, who became my work partner during this project. The asked me to design a piece of furniture where you can sit and work with a laptop on. The target was for public areas, for example in parks, malls, or at airports.In cooperation with Nola, my ambition was to develop this piece of furniture that was the answers on their wishes and demands.

In light of the massive property bubbles that have been bursting in the USA, Spain and Ireland during the last decade, the aim of this thesis is to clarify whether ? or to what degree - the municipality of Stockholm might experience a property bubble in the near future. The municipality of Stockholm is undergoing a housing shortage and house prices have risen during the last few years. Neoliberalism and property bubbles are used as a theoretical framework in this paper. The methodology consist of semi structured interviews, analysis of documents and statistical data from Eurostat, Valueguard and the Swedish administrative authority; Statistiska centralbyrån (SCB).

Finnhamn is a group of islands that are located in the middle north part of Stockholm?s archipelagos. On the main island Stora Jolpan there is a camp called Sommargården, which consists of eleven different buildings in various sizes. The assignment given by the Archipelago foundation (Skärgårdsstiftelsen) is to analyze if it?s benefited to replace Sommargårdens current heating system that consists of electricity radiators, with a more energy efficient heating system. This research is done with help of the literature review and a visit to Finnhamn in order to map Sommargården?s current state and its energy usage.

Medieval glasses have for long been a neglected object group in archeological research in Sweden. With that in mind I choose to write about those in my essay. The aim of this paper is to bring the medieval glasses into the archaeological research. I intend to show where you can find medieval glass in Sweden and what kind of glasses have been made. I will also discuss why the archeological research is so limited when it comes to the medieval drinking glasses.
