This Master thesis discusses the development of a virtual human soft tissue object for use in exercise applications of various medical procedures.The soft tissue object to be developed shall look like, feel like and behave as living human tissue. It shall give the user a realistic feeling of weight, softness and roughness, and shall behave in a correct way for exercise purposes. The soft tissue model is to be used in a three dimensional stereo graphic environment with haptic feedback. A prototype for practicing the procedure of inserting a catheter is built. The prototype is used to evaluate the potential of the virtual environment for medical exercise applications, and to assess the realism and usability of the soft tissue object.

Energy is an important issue in the current world which significantly affects sustainability and development. Energy generation and use are major sources of CO2 emissions which is one of the most important driving factors in global climate changes. The amount of energy used in house hold section can lead to estimation of the amount of CO2 emitted within this section which subsequently would be a ground to better management and maintaining a sustainable society. This study which is a bachelor?s project in sustainable energy, deals with estimation of CO2 emission from different types of residential houses in Sweden. An extensive literature review on energy use in Sweden by different residential sectors has been conducted.

The purpose of this essay is to find out how two schools work with newly arrived children and to see how they differ. There is a lack of national directives for those who work with newly arrived children and teenagers; this makes the introduction very different between schools.The study is qualitative, based on interviews with four teachers in two different compulsory schools. One school is situated in a suburb of Stockholm and the other one is situated in a minor community in Dalarna. One schools got a preparatory class for newly immigrated pupils and the other school doesn?t.The theoretical frame that I have chosen to analyse these interviews are literature and research on Bilingualism, Children with PTSD, Intercultural Pedagogy and Special PedagogyMy results also show that these schools work very differently, and that there is very little co-operation within the school and with the units around the school, regarding these children.

Enligt WHO är övervikt en global epidemi. Gastric bypass-operationer för viktminskning blir vanligare. Syftet med studien var att undersöka psykologiska aspekter och konsekvenser av att genomgå en Gastric bypass-operation. Åtta intervjuer utfördes och analyserades med Grundad teori. Sex kategorier utformades: negativt bemötande/positivt bemötande, jag/andra, dumping som vän/dumping som fiende, att tillhöra massan/att stå ut från massan, eget ansvar/andras ansvar och bevarad självbild/förändrad självbild.

The Swedish security policy has changed from stressing neutrality to embrace co-operation within the EU and other organisations. New threats like terrorism, boarder-crossing criminality and natural disasters require new ways to deal with this type of problems to protect the society. Since the beginning of 21st century the high Russian economic growth has made it possible for the country to play an increasingly role as a superpower on the international political stage. In the same time the democratic development has been replaced by an autocratic rule which has obstructed the Russian- European relations. From a Swedish security policy view the Russian political development is of importance and the picture of Russian as a threat has changed from 1996 to 2008/09.

Att genomgå en hjärtoperation påverkar människors dagliga liv starkt. En hjärtoperation är ett stort ingrepp som för personer har kroppsliga så väl som emotionella effekter. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att beskriva människors upplevelser i samband med en hjärtoperation från och med att det blev tal om operation till två år efter operationen. Med kvalitativ inne-hållsanalys analyserades tolv vetenskapliga studier och resulterade i sex kategorier: Att känna sig hindrad av sin kropp, Att vänta präglades av oro och maktlöshet, Att ha förväntningar om ett nytt liv och känna rädsla för det okända, Att känna och sakna stöd från andra, Att få och sakna infor-mation, Att känna sig överrumplad av resultatets olika sidor. Denna litte-raturstudie visade att många personer kände sig oroliga under väntetiden och att det fanns brister av stöd från vårdpersonalens sida.

With ever-increasing environmental problems in the world, I have with this thesis aimed at studying how the Inuit people of the Arctic organize themselves around the issue of environmental degradation. In focus for this thesis is the organization Inuit Circumpolar Conference (ICC), an NGO that focuses on saving and protecting the social and cultural rights of the Inuit people, along with the environment in the four arctic regions. This aboriginal population has a strong connection to the environment they dwell in, as the area serves as a source of income and nutrition as well as an historically important place for their culture.I will in this thesis primarily investigate the methods of operation amongst NGOs, as well as their ability to influence and interact with the UN. These are three concepts that I, as a hypothesis, considered to distinguish ICC from other NGOs. With help from three theories about NGOs, I conclude that certain central elements of ICC differ from the average NGO, making ICC a new kind of actor in global politics..

Denna rapport behandlar hur polisen bör agera och vad de bör tänka på när de skall framföra ett dödsbud. Två andra frågor vi ska söka svar på är hur en människa som mottar ett dödsbud kan reagera och vi ska i slutet av arbetet försöka få fram ett förberedelsekort ?inför dödsbud?, eftersom det inte finns några gemensamma rutiner sen innan. Detta har intresserat oss eftersom vi som polisstuderande inte har fått någon djupare utbildning i ämnet och saknar erfarenhet av detta sen tidigare. Vi tycker att det är viktigt att polisen lämnar ett värdigt dödsbud till anhöriga.

SammanfattningStudien undersöker hur revisionsansträngningen hos företag på Nasdaq OMX Nordic Stockholms listor, Mid cap och Small cap, påverkas under hög ? respektive lågkonjunktur genom att undersöka faktorerna:Komplexiteten hos företagRisken hos företag Revisorns erfarenhet Studien undersöker revisionsansträngningen genom revisionsarvodet under 2007-2009. Multipla linjära regressioner har används för att nå resultatet. Resultatet av studien visade att för samtliga tre undersökningsår var komplexitet signifikant, revisorerna ansåg att utländska dotterföretag var en faktor som påverkade revisionsansträngningen hos företag på Small ? och Mid Cap oavsett om Sverige befann sig i en hög- eller lågkonjunktur.

The world is increasingly coalescing, ecologically, economically and culturally. Many problems can no longer be solved within the own state borders and the limitation of the territorial state is obvious. Jürgen Habermas means that a world domestic politic without a world government is what this progress need. Therefore it is important that national interests become less central and the solidarity between people is given priority in international relations. The focus of this thesis is therefore a critical discourse analysis of the current position of the internationalisation of Swedish security and defence policy.

John A Warden III har en teori om hur luftkrig ska genomföras, som sedan slutet på 80-talet influerat bland annat USA i deras planering och genomförande av luftoperationer. Denna teori var som mest aktuell under Gulfkriget 1990-1991, där luftstridskrafterna genom ett agerade enligt Wardens teori gav stora effekter på konfliken.Detta arbete syftar mot att undersöka om Wardens teori fortfarande används, och vilka effekter detta agerande medför. Arbetet presenterar de begrepp som kan ses som centrala i Wardens teori och analyserar dessa mot en fallstudie som rör flygstridskrafternas agerande under inledningen av Operation Enduring Freedom i Afghanistan år 2001.Slutsatsen är att det finns spårbarhet av Wardens tankar om luftöverlägsenhet under hela perioden som arbetet berör. Däremot finns det endast spårbarhet av att koalitionen agerade enligt tyngdpunktsbegreppet, parallell attack och fienden som ett system under den inledande fasen av konflikten. Därför kan det inte sägas att koalitionen agerade enligt Wardens teori under konflikten..

Background: Risk Management plays an important part of the enterprises strategic business activity. Efficient Risk Management will secure the businesses survival, assets and creates market advantages. The interest of information security has consequently gained in Swedish corporations. Corporations have realized the importance of the information which is stored in the IT systems. IT is the tool for businesses future progress and growth and therefore a source of risks.

Syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka ifall vinstmanipulering förekommer bland företagen på Nasdaq OMX Nordic samt att analysera ifall att VD-byte är kopplat till detta fenomen. Metod: Studien har använt sig av Den Modifierade Jonesmodellen som är en periodiseringsbaserad modell för vinstmanipulering. Undersökningen är en kvantitativ studie och har utgått från årsredovisningar mellan åren 2007-2011 från börsnoterade bolag på Stockholms Mid Cap lista, totalt 295 observationer. Fyra hypoteser blir statistiskt testade. Teori: Denna del tar upp flera teorier som är kopplade till uppsatsens undersökning, bland annat genom Agentteorin och Designad redovisning.

Postoperativ smärta är relaterad till vävnadsskadan som uppstår i samband med operation. Denna smärta kan många gånger vara svår att lindra optimalt med olika farmaka och underbehandlas i stor utsträckning. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att beskriva olika icke farmakologiska metoder som kan lindra postoperativ smärta hos vuxna. Metoden som användes bestod av en litteraturstudie där data samlades in genom systematiska databassökningar samt manuella sökningar. De icke farmakologiska metoder som framkom var specifik preoperativ information, avslappning, vägledd visualisering, akupunktur, massage, musik och vibrationsterapi.

The aim of this paper is to empirically examine the ideological trends and positioning of the Swedish liberal party with the Danish social liberal party. This paper also aims to analyze the reasons behind the trends. By examine the development in these two Nordic liberal sisterparties, this paper contributes to our understanding of why and how party change is initiated. The paper commences with an intuitive notion that the Swedish party has in fact, made a lurch towards the right, during the past ten to fifteen years while the Danish party has retained their social-liberal position in the centre of the Danish political spectrum. The questions then asked are: can this hypothesis be verified empirically? If so, how can this phenomenon of divergence, be explained?The method used in this thesis is process-tracing and the empirical material does to a large extent rely on interviews with central agents as they are specified in the theory of each party.
