This paper describes the process of building a machine translation lexicon for use in the train and transport domain with the machine translation system MATS. The lexicon will consist of a Swedish part, an English part and links between them and is derived from a Tradostranslation memory which is split into a training(90%) part and a testing(10%) part. The task is carried out mainly by using existing word linking software and recycling previous machine translation lexicons from other domains. In order to do this, a method is developed where focus lies on automation by means of both existing and self developed software, in combination with manual interaction. The domain specific lexicon is then extended with a domain neutral core lexicon and a less domain neutral general lexicon.

I Sverige uppfyller medierna demokratiska uppgifter i syfte att värna om den lagstadgade fria åsiktsbildningen. Medierna ska granska inflytelserika aktörer och deras innehåll ska presentera olika åsikter mellan vilka allmänheten självständigt ska kunna ta ställning. I uppsatsens undersöks hur Dagens Nyheter, Göteborgs-Posten och Sydsvenskan hanterade kravet på opartiskhet i förhållande till respektive dagstidnings nyhetsförmedling inför riksdagsvalen 2006 och 2010. Tidigare forskning visar på att Alliansen gynnades i valrapporteringen inför såväl riksdagsvalet 2006 som 2010.För att göra kravet på opartiskhet mätbart tar jag hjälp av Jörgen Westerståhls tankegods som formulerar två krav vilka ska uppfyllas för att medierna ska anses förmedla opartiska nyheter. För det första ska en nyhet vara balanserat återgiven och för det andra måste rapporteringen förhålla sig neutral.Resultatet visade att journalistiken i större utsträckning uppfyllde kravet på neutral representation än balanskravet.

AbstractIn the literature on multiculturalism and group rights there is a strong tradition that sees diversity as something directly paradoxal to unity. In this tradition, scholars put forward a view of multiculturalism as a divisive and exclusionary process which breaks down the cohesion and unity of society. Related to this notion is that of a neutral and universally valid frame of reference in which political dilemmas can be solved; for example a neutral civil sphere where the ?true essence? of society lies. In this essay I attempt to criticise these two notions.

The Swedish Prime Minister, Tage Erlander, made a speech on the 22 of August 1961 in which he dismissed speculation that Sweden was seeking to abandon its neutral stance and non-alignment in foreign policy with a view to requesting membership of the European Economic Community. The reason was that the EEC was supposed to have a political part where a connection with NATO should have existed. This speech led to a domestic discussion which has been called the most intense debate of foreign affairs in recent history. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the reactions of the other parliamentary parties to Erlander?s speech.

I have written an essay called ?All children are equally worth - A qualitative analysis of how children are produced in KappAhls commercials?.The purpose of this thesis is to do a study of the swedish clothing company KappAhl?s commercials. My purpose is divided into three questions: With which clothing colours are girls and boys represented in the commercials? Is there any difference in the making of ?non-white? and ?white? children in the commercials? and What is being transmitted in KappAhl?s commercials, where the focus should lay on the clothes?My material consists of three selected video clips from KappAhl?s Youtube channel. The three commercials are named: 1, Back to school, 2, Children?s christmas and 3, KappAhl 3 för 2 på alla överdelar för barn (translation: KappAhl 3 for 2 on all children?s tops).

Karaktärsanimationerna måste vara könsneutrala eftersom spelarna själva väljer kön och personlighet på sin karaktär i Cloud Islands. Personlighetsgestaltningarna som skapades kallades ?Neutral?, ?Äventyrlig? och ?Sprallig?. Problemformuleringen bestod av att undersöka om animationerna för dessa stereotypiska personligheter kunde göras könsneutrala. Arbetet utgick från Isbisters (2006) rörelsemönster för personligheter, power centers (Lango, årtal okänt) och Labans rörelseteorier (Kundert-Gibbs & Kundert-Gibbs, 2009).

Assessing the emotional state in animals is important in order to establish the quality of their welfare, therefore it is important to investigate under what circumstances animals experience these emotions and to find indicators of their existence. The aim of this thesis was to detect possible behavioural indicators for positive emotions in dogs. These behavioural indicators could be helpful to increase both dogs? and humans? overall well-being in today?s society since they could help e.g. dog owners and caretakers to interpret behaviours displayed by dogs and their intentions so they can respond accordingly.The subjects used were 9 research beagles and each dog participated in three different treatments, assumed to be experienced as positive situations, where communicative interaction was initiated with the dog by engaging in 1) physical contact (P), 2) verbal contact (V) or 3) both physical and verbal contact simultaneously (PV).

The majority of all power cuts that affects individuals and communities are caused by earth faults on the power transmission lines at 10kV and 20kV level [1]. If these power cuts could be eliminated, less disturbances and interrupts would lead to large amounts of money savings.Swedish Neutral has developed such a protection system. When an earth fault occurs power is injected into the neutral point of the transformer. The RCC (Residual Current Compensation) protection calculates a compensation current exactly 180 degrees out of phase to the fault current. Doing this, the voltage at the fault location becomes very close to zero, without affecting the power transmission.The protection system can only compensate automatically for the fundamental frequency (50Hz), and manually for the 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th harmonics.

The theme of this thesis is the professional ethics of public librarians. Qualitative interviews have been conducted with fourteen public librarians, with the aim to investigate their thoughts·and opinions concerning professional ethics and their experiences of ethical dilemmas in professional situations.The result shows that the majority of the librarians often discuss problems concerning what's right or wrong but that the discussions are conducted on the basis of practical situations and not in terms of professional ethics. The majority have vague ideas of how the term professional ethics should be applied on the work of public librarians, though all the interviewees consider the professional ethical discussion to be important.We examine the librarians opinions and experiences of ethical dilemmas conceming four subject areas: the principle of the librarian as a neutral and nonrestricting information intermediary, the principle of equal treatment of all the library visitors, difficulties. concerning media selection and the problems based upon the librarians flexibility towards the intemal rules of the library. The librarians experienced the behaviour towards the visitors as the greatest problem.

Denna uppsats behandlar hur muslimer framställs i två svenska morgontidningar, nämligen Dagens Nyheter (DN) och Svenska Dagbladet (SvD). Metoden som använts i studien är en kvantitativ innehållsanalys, vilken har utförts på sammanlagt 78 artiklar, 39 från respektive tidning, en artikel från varje vecka under nio månader år 2012. Syftet har varit att se hur muslimer framställs i svensk morgonpress under ?en vanlig dag?, alltså en dag där det inte inträffat någon extrem händelse som kan förknippas med muslimer.Teorierna som använts i studien är Orientalism, Nyhetsvärdering och medielogik, Stereotyper i media, Naturlig inkludering samt diskriminering med ord. Dessa ligger till grund för uppsatsens resultat.Resultatet av studien bekräftar tidigare studiers resultat, nämligen att muslimer framställs på ett sätt som inte är fördelaktigt.

The purpose of the study was to investigate, through an experiment, if positive mood promotes creativity and flexible thinking. Participants were a total of 93 college students. The main hypothesis was that subjects induced with positive mood would perform better than subjects induced with negative mood, at a test reflecting creativity. To further explore the implications of priming (subliminal manipulated moods), a neutral control group was included. The cognitive test used in the study was Duncker´s The Candle Problem, a test which aims to get the subjects to apply flexible and creative thinking.

Ungdomars attityder till småländska dialekter står i centrum i den här uppsatsen. Studiens syfte är att undersöka småländska gymnasieelevers attityder till dialekter i landskapet. Enkätundersökning har använts som undersökningsmetod, och enkätsvar från sammanlagt 115 gymnasieelever i Älmhult, Jönköping, Växjö, Västervik och Kalmar har samlats in. Ungdomarna har svarat på frågor angående den egna dialekten och inställningen till denna. De har även värderat andra dialekter i landskapet utifrån vilka de tycker är fina respektive mindre fina.

Kvantitativa och kvalitativa undersökningar har genomförts för att kunna besvara frågorna. More exactly I?ve got two question formulations:Which statements does king Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden make during the early 2000?s and are thesestatements, in line with the king?s attributions, non-political, party-politically neutral and noncontroversialaccording to different perspectives? Question number two is if there are to find anyboundaries for where the verbal attributions of Carl XVI Gustaf seem to go when he expresses himself inthe role as the king of Sweden and the chief of state in the early 2000?s. My procedure is to read theChristmas speeches of Carl XVI Gustaf during the 2000?s and use former beheld statements of Carl XVIGustaf to seek answers to the research questions.
