Sweden's drinking water quality is considered to be high partly due to a high quality of the raw water and a well developed sewage infrastructure. Despite this, there is water contamination that could be prevented by installation of a sophisticated early warning system. Some of the major players in the production of drinking water have already invested in different types of early warning systems to ensure drinking water of high quality. There are various forms of early warning systems where automatic monitoring of E. Coli is an interesting alternative.

Most of the saw and pulp industries have stored wood nearby their production, the main reason is to have a continuous wood flow to the production. Wet storage of wood is of great importance to keep the wood quality. Without water sprinkling the risk of drying outand decomposition through biological activity increases significantly and will result in a negative effect on future production and quality. One drawback of wet storage of wood is the leaching of chemical substances into the surrounding recipient. The log yard run-off contains phosphorus, nitrogen, phenols and organic substances. These substances can cause problems for the surrounding environment. The main objective of this project is to gain an understanding of the wet storage used by the Swedish wood industry and estimate the environmental consequences that run-off water will have on the recipient.

Testverktyg för ett automatiserat system

Most often when developing a new system there is a need get a functioning testtool up and running. Including time, cost and resources the solution isn?t always obvious, developing your own or buy one ?of the shelf?. The purpose of this thesis is to study how a general testtool for executing functional tests should be designed to be reusable, be based on recognized knowledge and be able to fast and simple be customized for different types of systems. Key functions from the litterature is presented and used in the design of a testtool prototype.

This master thesis is a part of the DySCAS project at ENEA. The purpose of this thesisproject is to add support for streaming media and USB support to the DySCAS demonstratorplatform.To achieve this, some of the widely used middlewares available today were studied. The onethat proved to be of most interest is CORBA. Although CORBA?s solution to streamingmedia couldn?t be used due to their use of object programming, the CORBA solution didprovide some interesting thoughts regarding how the USB devices should be handled, in thiscase their ?resource inspector? and ?trading service?.Ethernet was the chosen network to support streaming media.

The company Sol & Energiteknik wanted to examine the possibility to make a standardhouse totally energy independent. Based upon this I have, during the spring of 2007,examined the possibilities available at the market today through litterature studies, contactwith several companies and reading reports at the internet.The first thing to examine has been to determine the energy consumption for a standardhouse, and find out if there are better technologies to be used for energy conservation.My conclusion in this matter is that there are possibilities today for building a house moreenergy efficient.When I had reached the point at which my design for the house was decided, I also hadto choose the different products to use to produce energy as well as to store that energy.To produce heat and electricity to the house I decided to use a wind turbine and a solarwater heater.The most difficult part of designing a house that is energy independent is that theproduced energy must be stored somehow. Storing the heat is relatively easy beacuse theheat can be stored in a large water tank. The electricity is a bigger problem beacuse itmust be stored in batteries, which today are too expensive to be used in a standard house.In the future producing and storing hydrogen might be used to produce electricity, buttoday that technology is both expensive and not tested enough.My final conclusion is that a standard house can not be built to be totally energyindependent today, unless it is very expensive to connect the house to the electricitynetwork. As an alternative solution I came up with a proposal for a house which isconnected to the electricity network and have some amount of own produced energy.This house prooved to be a good investment if you choose to build it today, and it couldbe a very good investment in the long run beacuse energy prices increase every year..

Styrning och nödbroms av ModuLith

The purpose of this project is to get a fully functional, automatic steering system and a variable breaking system with an emergency breaking function to an off road vehicle. This off road vehicle is supposed to work as an aid in military situations. A team of two, Sebastian Attervall and Nichlas Gustafsson, got an order from Jonas Nyårds and the PreeRunners Project to construct a steering system that could manoeuvre an off road vehicle without any human involvement. To make this possible the vehicle would be guided by onboard sensors, cameras and computers. The team where also assigned to construct an automatic breaking system, there also no human would be involved.

Background: Traditionally defined boundaries and borders between organizations are at present being re-evaluated because of new and tougher demands. Today we can see a trend where these boundaries are being lowered or even eliminated when organizations choose to co-operate instead of compete. Purpose: In order to create an understanding for the partner selection process in the newly founded joint ventures between the companies which are building the Swedish 3G Network, the determining factors are being studied. Delimitation: The studies companies are co-operating as network operators but are at the same time competing as mobile operators. This relationship is in the literature described as co-opetition, which will not be investigated in this paper.

En studie av kundrelationer och CRM-system ? ur ett företagsperspektiv

Bakgrund/problem: CRM-system används i allt större utsträckning för att hantera och bearbeta relationer med hjälp av nödvändig information om kunder. Forskare talar dock både för och emot CRM och CRM-system. En del anser att det kan ses som överskattat och som något som har vuxit fram till någonting större än det egentligen borde vara, likt en trend. ?Hur kritiskt är ett CRM-system för ett företags hantering och bearbetning av kundinformation, sett ur ett CRM-perspektiv??Syfte: Syftet med uppsatsen är dels att beskriva hur företag (med och utan CRM-system) arbetar på ett formellt sätt med kundinformation i kontakten med sina kunder och dels analysera hur kritiskt eller relevant ett CRM-system är i detta arbete, sett ur ett CRM-perspektiv.Metod: En kvalitativ och kvantitativ ansats som utgår från en deduktiv metod.

Integrerad modulär avionik med virtualisering

Det finns huvudsakligen tre olika sätt att konstruera ett partitionerat system på: Federerad arkitektur, Integrerad Modulär Avionik (IMA) med ARINC 653 eller IMA med virtualisering. I den här rapporten undersöks de olika arkitekturernas egenskaper och vilka möjligheter som finns för certifiering av dem. Efter den teoretiska undersökningen har Virtualisering, och framförallt Xen, valts ut för en testimplementation och tillförlitlighetstester.Testimplementationen består av fyra partitioner där varje partition har sin specifika uppgift att lösa. Den fjärde partitionen används för att undersöka hur Xen hanterar en partition som aggressivt nyttjar I/O, processor eller arbetsminne.Testerna visar att Xen har en svag punkt: all I/O hanteras via en egen, speciell, partition. Denna partition saknar dessutom möjligheter att prioritera I/O från specifika partitioner.

Användning av den mobila tjänsten SMS i ett system

Syftet med uppsatsen var att undersöka vad som gör att en användare vill använda SMS i en organisation och vilka faktorer som påverkar användandet av detta system, det vill säga acceptansen av att använda det. Då denna typ av system är relativt nya tyckte vi att detta var ett intressant ämne att undersöka, samtidigt som vi ville se vilka faktorer som påverkar användaren i avseende till användning av ett specifikt SMS-baserat system. Det kan även vara intressant för företag som vill implementera eller utveckla den här typen av system. Utifrån syftet bestämde vi oss för ett visst tillvägagångssätt som vi skulle använda oss av för att kunna få svar på våra frågor. Tillvägagångssättet var att leta i den litteratur vi haft på tidigare kurser inom det systemvetenskapliga programmet för att hitta en teori som kunde ge oss stöd för ett resonemang.

In recent decades here has been a huge development in information technology (IT), where we humans are increasingly using IT in our daily lives, ranging from social media to music streaming services; this has also been a reflection of the technologies developed to our cars. Infotainment systems have become an increasingly regular feature in modern cars where the high degree of integration such as navigation, mobile and Internet has become more common and more sought after. Despite this, relatively little research problemized User Experience of a complex infotainment system in a car. This study thus has the intention to consider the relevance of reality based tests by examining how the user experiences a complex infotainment system in a car. We asked ourselves; How do the user experience a complex infotainment system in a car? We conducted our qualitative study, an interview with researchers in the field of vehicle and road safety and designed a number of system-related activities in a test session where we observed three users.

Konstruktion av UPS-modul

This master thesis describes the development of an UPS module. UPS is an acronym for Uninterruptable Power Supply. The UPS module has been developed at the company AerotechTelub AB. The UPS module delivers the necessary voltage and current in case of a power interrupt. If a power interrupt occur, the computer system has one to three minutes available to store data and shut down correctly.

Ögonbehandling av häst med lavage system och infusionspump Omvårdnadsaspekter : omvårdnadsaspekter

Objective ? To study the requirement of nursing care of the equine patient during eye treatment with a lavage system together with a constant rate infusion pump. Procedures ? Three veterinary nurses at ATG: s Hästsjukhus in Skara were asked nine questions at individual interviews. Inclusion criteria for participation in the interview were that the nurse should have treated equines with and without the infusion pump to the lavage system, but also traditionally with eye drops. Results ? The equine had a higher well-being since it experienced less stress during eye treatment with the infusion pump compared to treatment given by hand through the lavage system. The treatment would be more effective with constant rate infusion and save costs for the owner.

Emwitech, the company developing Emwiro Vibe, expressed a desire to replace this solution with a real-time operating system (RTOS). The project consisted of two parts. Firstly the existing software was studied, available RTOSes was evaluated, and the RTOS most suitable for the application was selected.
