Kulturens roll i samhällsutvecklingen är något som diskuteras allt mer intensivt. Idag kan en tendens där man använder kultur som verktyg för att uppnå utveckling urskiljas i kulturpolitiken både i Sverige och utomlands.Denna uppsats syftar till att studera och beskriva Region Hallands kulturpolitik, med fokus på att urskilja hur man använder kultur som verktyg för att uppnå regional utveckling. Den teoretiska utgångspunkten i studien utgörs av två kulturpolitiska modeller genom vilka jag undersöker hur kulturpolitiken har utvecklats de senaste åren, samt på vilket sätt kulturen integreras i andra samhällssektorer.Materialet i uppsatsen har inhämtats genom intervjuer med representanter för de sex största partierna i Region Halland, samt med regionens kulturchef. Dessa intervjuer har tillsammans med en del sekundära källor legat till grund för uppsatsens empiriska del.Det huvudsakliga resultatet i denna uppsats är att det råder en stor konsensus kring kulturpolitiken i Region Halland, oavsett partitillhörighet. Kulturen är på god väg att bli en fullständigt integrerad del i regionen, och den har stor betydelse för flera olika områden.

 This study aims to deepen the understanding of which opinions and perceptions the teachers in the study have about the national goals, as well as local, when they plan their lessons in science studies for the younger ages. We wish to illustrate which goals these teachers find most important, their opinions on how they use these and how the different goals affect their design of teaching. The study also aims to examine which syllabuses, national or local, the teachers believe have an effect on their planning. Data were collected by interviews with four teachers, combined with questionnaires sent to 25 teachers teaching in science studies in forms 1-6. To analyse the data, key terms from Vygotsky and a sociocultural theory was used, such as situated learning, artifacts, the zone of proximal development, thinking in group and mediation. The data was also interpreted and examined by recent studies regarding this subject. The results show that the teachers find their own knowledge, the national syllabus and their colleagues as most important for their planning.

The purpose of this essay has been to investigate the research and national initiatives regarding film and Cineliteracy in the Swedish curriculum.The results show that, after all research, national initiatives and the continual clarification from the Swedish National Agency for Education concerning film's place in the Swedish subject, the vision of students cineliteracy not at all obtain an obvious place in the curriculum.The research points out the main causes behind this result to be teachers' lack of expertise and the fact that the formal education for future teachers in the subject still upholds traditional views on the subject of Swedish.The initiative presented in this essay also show lack of continuity, lack of adequate professional development opportunities for teachers and lack of practical guidance manuals to help teachers to develop and educate their pupils in line with current research and visions. .

The aim of this essay is to investigate how national and international guidelines relate to library services to prisoners in Sweden and to further illuminate this through a comparison with some examples from a few European countries. The essay examines what rights to library services Swedish prisoners are given in law, what national and international guidelines say, what demands are placed on the librarian in the form of education and suitability, what economical resources exist to realise library services to prisoners, what measures are taken to provide for language minorities, and how the security aspect is handled when it comes to computers and information technologies. The information has been obtained through interviews as well as through studies of books, articles and conference proceedings. The essay includes a small case study of how library services are provided for prisoners in Haparanda. Findings point to a gap between the goals that are presented in national and international guidelines and how the library services to prisoners function in reality..

The purpose of this study was to discuss young immigrant's experiences of the meeting between their original culture and swedish culture. In this discussion certain emphasis is laid on the formation of identity. In a more specific manner the aim was to find out which underlying circumstances contributed to the individuals choice in considering him- or herself as swedish or not and what these circumstances depended on.The empirical material of this study consists of five lifestories based on the methodological study of narrative. I have analyzed the material with help from Anthony Giddens' theory of structuration with starting point in the conception of ontological safety. I identified four different themes that frequently recured in each lifestory: identity in migration- and integrationsprocesses, the open doors of globalization, "swedish" identity and belonging in two cultures.

Intresset för det valda uppsatsämnet uppstod av att se om det är kultur som påverkar varumärkesassociationer. Det var därmed intressant att fördjupa sig i två olika kulturer, nämligen USA och Sverige. Detta för att göra studien mer intresseväckande, då det handlar om en jämförelse mellan dessa två länder och för att ?verklighetsförankra? studien.Uppsatsen grundar sig på en kvalitativ ansats och avser att studera konsumenternas varumärkesassociationer. Den komponent som har analyserats, för att undersöka vilka associationer som uppstår är kulturellt bakgrund.

Studien handlar om organisationskultur och har genomförts på ett konsultbolag. Syftet har varit att undersöka vilka faktorer som bidrar till att skapa, upprätthålla och föra vidare organisationskulturen. Vi har även haft för avsikt att undersöka hur större händelser har påverkat bolagets kultur. I undersökningen använde vi oss av en kvalitativ metod. En sådan metod lämpar sig bäst då studerande av organisationskultur innebär tolkningar av människors tankar, handlingar och beteenden.   Det råder delade meningar i frågan om ledningen kan styra organisationskultur.

Turkey has recieved recurring criticism on their disrespect of women and their rights and The European Union Commission and CEDAW, the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women, are two examples of critics. However, during the last years Turkey has shown a number of improvments and positive developments. Two flagrant examples of the extended debate of the above mentioned scarcity is within the area of legislation and the large number of womenNGO´s.The aim of my thesis is to investigate which strategies womenorganizations in Turkey are using to affect the political agenda from a genderperspective; do they choose an international or a national strategi? The analysis is based on four womenNGO´s and their efforts of influence and effects on the political agenda and how they experience the link between themselves and the Turkish government. My findings suggest that a national strategy is chosen before an international strategy, but the choice seems to depend on specific goals of the organization and the national climate.

The purpose of this paper is for the reader to realise how national innovation systems are deeply intertwined with the legal background of a country and to understand the processes that involves national innovation systems specifically regarding the stem cell / genetics research and how the need for specific community law must be considered targeting the stem cell patents. The legal part will try to answer: Why is it important given the actual state of the European stem cell national innovation systems for the European Commission to take a stand and tackle issues regarding the patenting of the human stem cell innovations? This is done from a country industry analysis (business approach) and then linking it with competition law from a community stand point of view (that tackles biotechnology issues). In order to achieve this the paper is divided into three separate analyses beginning with a theoretical background of general biotechnology / genetic terms that will enable the reader to have a general understanding of the importance of this kind or research ( genetics / stem cell research). The chosen countries case studies exemplify very diverse economies and development perspective from the traditionally R&D intensive to the least and from the biggest countries in Europe to one of the smallest, thus giving cultural, legal, economic and scientific variety..

AimThe purpose with this study is to evaluate the selectationprocess and what happened with Swedish basketball players born 1986-89, that were selected to participate in Miki Herkel Cup (MHC), which is a camp for the 60 most talented players in Sweden.Metod  Together with the Swedish basketball federation, we decided to survey those who attended MHC as well as the players playing in the senior national team 2009.  The data collection has been made through a survey, with multiple choice questions in order to get as good as possible view of what factors that had influenced their development as basketball players. The survey was sent out to all players born 1986-89 that attended MHC and the senior national team of 2009. We used an electronic survey tool called questback which is an internetsurvey and sent out the survey to 320 players. To collect information we´ve searched within literature and databases.Result  18 % of the players answered the survey, which decreases the research validity.

Kultur differentierar samhällen världen över och skillnader kan orsaka problem för företagare som saknar kunskap eller underskattar dessa skillnaders betydelse. Den holländske forskaren Geert Hofstede har under mer än 40 år bedrivit forskning om kulturskillnader och placerat samt värderat ett stort antal länder i olika dimensioner vilka i uppsatsen utgörs av Osäkerhetsundvikande, Individualism, Maktdistans och Maskulinitet. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur fem svenska företag upplever och hanterar kulturskillnader mellan Sverige och Mexiko utifrån Hofstedes fyra dimensioner av nationell kultur. För att kunna genomföra denna studie har frågor kopplade till nationell kultur baserade på Hofstedes dimensioner använts och personer på fem svenska företag har intervjuats. Resultatet visar att det tydligt finns skillnader i nationell kultur mellan Sverige och Mexiko.

Invandringen sker i Sverige i allt större utsträckning, och till följd av det ställs högre krav på den transkulturella omvårdnaden. Nya krav ställs på vårdpersonalen i deras arbete. Med detta som grund utformades studiens syfte, som var att genom en litteraturstudie belysa patienters upplevelser och uppfattning av sjukdom och hälsa relaterad till deras kultur, samt vad som kan göras för att förbättra vården utifrån deras kulturella bakgrund. I resultatet visas att kulturella värderingar är de mest framträdande faktorerna som påverkar patientens uppfattning om sin hälsa och sjukdom. We have chosen to analyze how four well known sex crimes were presented in the Swedish national daily newspapers in the 2000s. We chose this topic because sex crimes are considered one of the most terrible crimes. Sex crimes involve the media and upset the society. Our purpose was to analyze if we could identify stereotypes and prejudices about sex crimes in the press reports.The four sex crimes were: Rissne case in 2000, Tumba case in 2003, Hagamannen case in 2006 and the Stureplan case in 2007. We have read all the news stories from the Swedish national daily newspapers Svenska dagbladet and Expressen about our four cases.

Care and solicitude about Swedish documentary heritage has varied substantially throughout the years. The main purpose of this essay has been to investigate what efforts have been made to preserve rare book collections at public libraries. These cultural policies have been studied from both a national as well as local perspective. What we have tried to explore can be condensed into three questions: What national initiatives have been taken in the past century to preserve the municipal documentary heritage?What initiatives have been taken in the past century to preserve thedocumentary heritage of what is presently the municipality of Jönköping? What value do rare book collections at public libraries represent? The results indicate few national efforts were initially made to preserve rare book collections in the timeframe we studied.

Det finns de som menar att taktiska beslut allt som oftast är baserad på en helt omedveten kraft, trots att faktorer som motståndaren, egna styrkor och geografi, för att nämna några, verkar vara de som avgjorde ett taktiskt beslut. Denna omedvetna kraft kan vara av kulturell art och därför upplevs den naturlig. Något som är naturligt utsätts inte för medveten reflektion och därför tillåts den kontrollera dess medlemmar. Detta är uppsatsens identifierade problemområde och det är här som uppsatsen fokuserar.Denna uppsats försöker sätta ord på denna kulturella yttring, denna taktiska kultur som verkar kring beslutsfattare i alla nivåer. Dilemmat är dess naturliga yttring, och problematiken att medvetengöra den samma.
