On December 20, 2001, the Swedish citizen Mehdi Ghezali was captured on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Ghezali spent the following 930 days in U.S. captivity, without being charged with any crime. My aim in this essay is to analyze how Ghezali was portrayed in three Swedish newspapers under and after his captivity, two nationwide and one local newspaper based in Ghezali's hometown. My purpose is to see whether Ghezali's identity is constructed differently in the three newspapers, as regards The Other, Stereotypization, etc.

Syftet med detta examensarbete är att undersöka lärares uppfattningar om det nationella provet i engelska, samt hur dessa lärare arbetar med provet för att kunna hjälpa eleverna att nå sina kursmål. Undersökningsmetoden är kvalitativ då vi intervjuat fyra lärare i engelska på en högstadieskola. Intervjufrågorna har innefattat allt från hur lärare arbetar med det nationella provet och hur de ser på provet, till hur målen med det nationella provet uppfylls. Resultatet av undersökningen är att det nationella provet underlättar lärarnas arbete. Lärarna anser även att provet fungerar som ett bra stöd då de ska betygsätta eleverna.

This is the first investigation of the activity with feature film (video) in Swedish publiclibraries.Due to the Swedish copyright legislation, the activity with feature film in Swedish publiclibraries was not possible until an agreement was set between Kommunförbundet and SverigesVideodistributörers Förening in 1989.My investigation is based upon a form that I made in cooperation with Statens kulturråd.The form was sent to the main public libraries in the 286 municipals in Sweden. 250 (87 percent) of the public libraries answered the questions. 130 (52 per cent) of the libraries whoanswered had an activity with feature film.The main reason the libraries bought feature film, was that they hoped that feature filmwould attract new visitors to the library. The investigation also showed that high costs forhiring feature films has a negative influence on the lending of feature films..

This study has been made on behalf of the Swedish Transport Administration to study the work of the department National Projects. The Swedish construction industry has for many years been characterized by low productivity. By being the largest purchaser of contracts in the industry the Swedish Transport Administration has a unique opportunity to influence the productivity. In order to improve in productivity The Swedish Transport Administration is adopting a new role in which they will order more turnkey projects. In our study, we will focus on how one department within the Swedish Transport Administration, National Projects, can perform successful turnkey projects.To clarify how the department National Projects can perform successful projects, this study identifies critical factors for projects and their links to different phases of the project.

The purpose of this essay is to examine how officials within the Swedish public libraryorganisation view the IT-development, how the IT-development progresses within theorganisation and if there is a need for a national IT-strategy for the public libraries in Sweden.Four unorganized interviews with officials within the regional- and county libraryorganisation and one within the national organisation where conducted. This study is aqualitative examination where the phenomenographic approach has been used as inspirationfor the analytic model. The analytic result has been compared to the system theory of how anoptimal system should be constructed to perform in an optimal way and to be able to producegood results. The results of this study show a wish for a better national cooperation regardingthe IT-development for the Swedish public libraries. När de traditionella skrivbordsapplikationerna görs om till webbapplikationer, ställer det krav på JavaScript som används mer och mer för att få fram ett responsivt gränssnitt på webben. För att underlätta utvecklingen av JavaScriptapplikationer har ett antal funktionsbibliotek skapats. I vår studie undersöker vi därför vilket av de två populäraste JavaScriptbiblioteken idag, jQuery och Prototype, som presterar bäst i dagens mest använda webbläsare. Dessa tester har utförts i ett testramverk som vi själva utvecklat för att vara webbläsaroberoende och inte kräva något av de bibliotek vi testar. Testerna är uppdelade i fyra testfall som körs 20 gånger för att ge ett mer tillförlitligt resultat. Vi har testat hur varje bibliotek hanterar traversering och manipulation av DOM-trädet, sätter och hämtar stilar och attribut på element i DOM-trädet och hanterar event på element i DOM-trädet. Testerna visade att biblioteket Prototype presterade bättre på alla utom ett testfall i majoriteten av våra utvalda webbläsare; det enda testfallet där jQuery presterade bättre än Prototype var där DOM-trädet skulle manipuleras.

Transboundary protected areas are a fairly recent concept that have been increasing in popularity and are increasingly being integrated into large international organizations? environmental policy making. This essay examines the phenomena through the cooperation between two national parks, Parc National des Pyrénées in France and Parque Nacional Ordesa Monte Perdido in Spain. The theoretical framework used in this essay is based upon border theory, focusing on the different factors that influence the behavior of the border dweller and how the different social conceptions of nature influence the way it is managed. The results in this study result from researching published and private documents from the national parks and interviews carried out with staff from the park administrations from both countries.

According to the National Agency for Education 06-06-2010 are approximately 115 000 students graduating from Secondary School in the year of 2010.Out of these students, we know that thousands of them are hampered by reading and writing disabilities in various degrees. Have these students been given the best support needed when it comes to writing and reading?Compensation may be perceived as a goal for the pupil to catch up with the rest of the educational group or as a vehicle to go round the difficulties. In Sweden, diagnosed dyslexics are not allowed to use speech synthesis, a compensatory technical aid, during the 9th degree national tests.This study?s purpose is to discover if the usage of speech synthesis during the national test of Swedish and reading comprehension might work as a motivation booster for the students and consequently increase their test scores.This is a quantitative study including study including 15 pupils with diagnosed reading and writing disabilities.

Som ett led i att kunna erbjuda bättre information och service till nyföretagare har det i Väster- och Norrbotten initierats ett projekt ? Bibliotekskompaniet ? bibliotek och företag i samverkan. Projektet syftar till att utbilda bibliotekarier i att bli bättre rustade att möta företagarnas informationssökningsbehov genom att utveckla bibliotekariernas kunskaper inom företagande och vad det kan innebära. Projektet syftar också till att öka företagares kunskaper om vilka slags resurser biblioteken inom projektet kan erbjuda som kan vara nyttigt för dem.Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka vad representanter för kommunernas service för nyföretagande i Västerbotten använder sig av för informationskällor och hur de ser biblioteken som en resurs för informationssökning. Uppsatsen fokuserar på representanter för kommunernas service för nyföretagande för att de i ett tidigt skede i förstudien till projektet besvarade en enkät för projektets räkning vars syfte var att undersöka eventuellt intresse av samarbete mellan respondenterna och biblioteken.Uppsatsen visar att respondenterna i dagsläget endast använder sig av biblioteken som resurs för privat räkning, och i väldigt liten eller inte alls när det gäller sin yrkesutövning.

AnSyn AB är ett företag i Linköping som utvecklar programvara för att optimera analog elektronik. I deras program Analog Dimensions finns en visualiseringsmodul som ritar upp de kopplingsscheman som elektronikkonstruktören arbetar med. Ansyn var inte nöjda med den lösningen de hade. Den gamla visualiseringsmodulen hade flera begränsningar och i denna rapport kan du följa arbetet med att ta fram en ny visualiseringsmodul. Arbetet resulterade i en helt ny visualiseringsmodul som saknar de begränsningar som den gamla visualiseringsmodulen hade.

After the fall of the Iron Curtain the European Union was challenged partly by an institutionalized organization of the union, as well as by a socio-psychology awareness concerning the meaning of the European Union. The increase in European integration has generated a political collaboration where national understandings in identities are constantly being exposed for reconstruction. This results in a collective European identity where states are united in diversity.National identities are created when boundaries are set up in a relation to other states. In these identity constructions there are thoughts and questions raised such as who we are and who we are not. Ukraine and the European Union has, during a long time, had diversified preconceptions concerning who has been the others.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att belysa folkbibliotekens arbete med crossoverlitteratur samt vilka möjligheter begreppet och fenomonet ger biblioteken, främst när det kommer till marknadsföring. De tre forskninsfrågorna rörde definition av crossoverlitteratur, placering och marknadsföring av crossoverlitteratur samt presentation av crossoverlitteratur i bibliotekskatalogen. De besvaras genom kvalitativa semistrukturerade telefonintervjuer med bibliotekarier på sex olika bibliotek samt genom en granskning av några crossovertitlar i bibliotekens kataloger. Slutsatser som drogs var att det är ett svårdefinierat begrepp och att litteraturen fortfarande värderas olika beroende vilken den tilltänkta åldersgruppen är. Det är fortfarande en tydlig indelning mellan ungdom och vuxen på de flesta bibliotek när det gäller placering och marknadsföring, men bibliotekarierna skulle vilja att gränsen blev mindre tydlig..

There have been various results in research focused on why people are attracted to religion and religious movements. This is also the case with the reasons why people are attracted to far?right nationalist movements. The focus of this thesis is to analyze British National Party?s political documents after nationalistic quasi-religious elements.If nationalism was to be seen as a form of religion or as a substitute for religion the result could be a better understanding of why people are attracted to nationalist movements in general, and also to far-right movements.

This study examines whether the policy breadth and the alternatives in European politics affect variations in voter turnout between member states in elections to the European Union Parliament.The theoretical approach assumes that; a larger political polarization, an increase in EU-skeptical parties and a greater voting mobilization among groups with less means results in higher voter turnout figures. The study also consider four other variables; whether the election is held on weekends or weekdays, whether elections coincide with other national elections, whether a country has held the presidential of the EU during or the immediate term prior to the election and finally the turnout figures from national elections.The research design is based upon a quantitative analysis using data from EP elections, national elections and databases from the European Elections Studies (EES). Study unit is twelve member-state countries and their four latest EP elections (1994, 1999, 2004 and 2009). The selected member-states origin from the EU-15 excluding Belgium, Greece and Luxembourg due to their compulsory voting laws.The study found relationships between higher turnout figures in EP-elections and increase in EU-skeptical parties, greater mobilization among groups with less means, elections held on weekends, elections coinciding with other, national elections and an increase in voter figures in national elections..
