This paper is a study of documentary film production with focus on the filmmakers choice and usage of sound equipment. Using professional articles and literature have first of all helped us determine a standard for the conventional use of sound equipment in documentary film. Afterwards, by analyzing our own interviews we?ve received answers on how filmmakers relate to the conventional usage and why they select equipment as they do. Thereafter, we describe a technical method which helps a filmmaker to be able to record sound for documentary film on his/her own, using simple measures without reducing quality.

A film can attract all kinds of emotions and moods of the audience through its audiovisual communications and cinematic expression, in which music plays a significant role in both understanding and interpretation of film content.It is interesting to explore the musical significance and the emotional aspect of the film out of a media and communications perspective and visual communications perspective because it?s a subject that belongs to the communications of scientific discipline as film is a media text which is working both as communicative and as audio-visual medium with its expressive aspects.The purpose of this bachelor?s paper is to increase and deepen the understanding of music's function and significant role in context with its reinforcing sense of visual expression in film. More specifically, it aims to explore the musical value of the expressive aspect of the media text in form of film musical Les Misérables (2012), which has been transmedialised from the novel of the same name, referring to the sound, music and song in relation to the film's visual expression.The research questions are at the core of the essay study: "how is music used to reinforce the cinematic visual expression?" and "how can music signify the narrative and highlight the emotional aspect of the film?" The theoretical framework is based on some of the key scholars assumptions such as Michel Chion (1994) and Claudia Gorbman (1987), who share the same theoretical views that the soundtrack seems powerful when it expresses its participation in a scene?s emotional moods as the music follows the scene?s rhythm, the image?s flow and contributes emotional and musical codes of emotions and expressions. According to Chion sound and image interact together to tell a story where sound enrich the image with expressive and informative values.

Detta kandidatarbete undersöker problemet med konvergeringen av narrativ och interaktion och varför en konvergering mellan dessa hämmar deltagarens inlevelse i ett spel. Utifrån spelet Traverser redovisas i detta kandidatarbete processen och resultatet av hur ett interaktivt narrativ kan väcka inlevelse hos deltagaren genom att låta berättandet ske subtilt och icke-linjärt, där spelaren uppmanas till att vilja utforska narrativet på egen hand i form av en miljö i Traverser. This bachelor?s thesis discusses the problem of converging narrative and interaction and why the convergence between the two tends to arrest the participants immersion within a game. Through an interactive narrative by letting the narration take place subtly and nonlinearly, this bachelor?s thesis reports the process and result of how an interactive narrative could provoke immersion within the game Traverser, where the actor is urged to explore the narrative independently in the shape of an environment.

Syftet med examensarbetet är att undersöka några lärare och lärarstudenters erfarenheter av samt inställning till användningen av film i svenskundervisningen i grundskolans senare år och på gymnasiet. Arbetet utgår från det vidgade textbegreppet i svenskämnets kursplaner och forskning och litteratur kring dess omsättning i praktiken. Kvalitativa intervjuer har gjorts med fyra lärare och tre lärarstudenter. Resultatet visar på en variation i sättet att använda film i svenskundervisningen. Slutsatser som dras är att film fyller två olika huvudfunktioner i lärarnas undervisning, dels som medel för att t.ex.

En livsstilsförändrings motivationsprocess ser olika ut för människor beroende på deras förändring, mål och motiv. Syftet med undersökningen var att belysa livsstilsförändringar genom att tolka människors livsberättelser mot motivationsteorier. Undersökningen genomfördes med en narrativ metod där människors livsberättelser tolkades mot motivationsteorier.  Tre motivationsteorier, Maslows behovstrappa, Självbestämmandeteorin och Transteoretiska modellen tillämpades parallellt för att åskådliggöra förändringsprocessen. I resultatet framkom att tillämpning av flera motivationsteorier gav bredare förståelse för förändringsprocessen då det visade sig att teorierna kunde användas som kompletterande verktyg eller för att framhäva olika händelser under en process.  .

Denna uppsats är en kvalitativ studie av lärares och elevers förhållningssätt till användningen av film i skolsammanhang. Texten är gjord av blivande lärare för (blivande) lärare. Därför utgår studien från en pedagogisk syn som baserar sig på konstruktivism och ett sociokulturellt perspektiv. Tolv respondenter på två gymnasieskolor intervjuades ? sex lärare och sex elever.

Film is a tool frequently used by teachers, but it is often limited to showing students how historical time periods looked like, or as a way for students to search for historical inaccuracies. The aim of this essay is to study whether it is possible to use two films based on the legend of Robin Hood as a way to teach students how to contextualize gender history. Through the use of film analysis and gender analysis of two different versions of Robin Hood, The adventures of Robin Hood and Robin Hood: Prince of thieves were analyzed. The study has shown that it is indeed possible to use film as a source material for the study of gender history, and that film can tell us a lot about the contemporary view of gender, masculinity and femininity. The didactical analysis concluded that there was no theoretical objection of using film as a source material; however, there are some things that a teacher should be aware of. Although film may be a good way to create a varied study environment and benefit students with reading- and writing disabilities, there is a risk that time-constraints and lack of knowledge of film and its methodology on, behalf of both teachers and students, may make it hard to implement.

Då humor spelar en stor roll i våra vardagliga liv, inte minst som förmedlare av seriösa samhällsfenomen (Palmer, 2004), kändes det intressant för oss att belysa en medieform som har såväl humor som samhällspolitiska ämnen på agendan. I anknytning till vårt syfte och våra frågeställningar, vilka innefattar en jämförelse mellan två utvalda avsnitt ur TV-serien Parlamentet, har vi använt oss av två teoretiska utgångspunkter; narrativ teori och samtalsanalys. Vi har arbetat med en kvalitativ och textanalytisk metod och applicerat de teoretiska utgångspunkterna narrativ teori och samtalsanalys till vårt empiriska material i analysen. De begrepp vi valde ur narrativ teori är Mishlers modell, innehåll och humor som berättarstrategi, och ur samtalsanalysen valde vi att fokusera på struktur, tur- och turtagning och multimodalitet. Vi har låtit begrepet politikens medialisering fungera som en fond till vår studie, och vi har följt upp våra resultat genom dessa glasögon i slutdiskussionen. Analysen visar att det finns likheter, men framför allt skillnader mellan avsnitten, ur både narrativ och samtalsanalytisk synvinkel. Med hjälp av teorin har vi studerat helheter och delar ur avsnitten för att kunna ge en övergripande bild av vår analys.

I läroplanen och kursplanen för svenska finns underlag för att film ska finnas med i svenskundervisningen. Det är också viktigt med tanke på det mediasamhälle vi lever i idag. Att använda film i undervisningen är också ett sätt att närma sig elevernas kultur och det som ligger dem nära. Undersökningar som gjorts visar att undervisning om och med film bedrivs på ett annat sätt än när det gäller skönlitteratur. Skönlitteratur tas upp på ett mer seriöst sätt och undervisningen är mer genomarbetad.

The thesis examines ?intermediality? in Svenska Bios (Swedish Biograph) first fiction films. Värmlänningarne (1910), Fänrik Ståls Sägner (1910), Bröllopet på Ulfåsa (1910), Regina von Emmeritz och Konung Gustaf II Adolf (1910), Amuletten (1910), Emigranten (1910) and Järnbäraren (1911) are analysed in relation to theatre, literature, music and ?reality?. A detailed discussion of intermediality is combined with specific theories relating to pictorialism and literary presentation in film.

The aim of this thesis is to examine how the Swedish Film Institute?s arguments regarding file sharing, copyright and the Internet relates to the changes made in the Swedish copyright law during 2003 and 2007, using the current debate about surveillance versus liberty on the Internet as a backdrop. The theory used is based on Lawrence Lessig?s ideas about how a network such as the Internet can be controlled, and what regulating forces a government can use to constrain a certain behavior such as illegal file sharing. By examining referral statements made by the Swedish Film Institute to five different communications from the Swedish government regarding copyright and film politics an idea analysis is being used as a method to answer the following sub-questions: 1.) How has the Swedish copyright law evolved during the latest years? 2.) What arguments are being used by the Swedish Film Institute in issues regarding file sharing, copyright and the Internet? 3.) Are the arguments being used by the Swedish Film Institute regarding these issues changing during the examined period? The findings of the study show that the Swedish Film Institute has been eager to support a more powerful expansion of the copyright laws, often suggesting more powerful solutions than the Swedish government itself.

Detta arbete handlar om att undersöka en narrativ ljussättning av en labyrint och går i bakgrunden igenom hur ljussättning har fungerat genom tiderna fram till idag, samt hur forskning kring ljus i dataspel ser ut i dagsläget. Därefter följer problemformuleringen som utgår från två perspektiv, vilka är förstapersonsperspektiv samt top-downperspektiv. Frågeställningen vill undersöka en skillnad i hur en narrativ ljussättning uppfattas ur de olika perspektiven i en labyrintisk miljö. Problemformuleringen går även igenom hur utvärderingsmetoden var tänkt att fungera i relation till detta. Sedan går utvärderingskapitlet igenom resultatet av studien där en analys av tio intervjuer med respondenter som genomfört studien presenteras.

Syftet med denna studie är att granska hur barns handlingar i förskolans sociala miljö inramas, filmas och diskuteras av förskollärare genom filmdokumentation samt på vilket sätt barnen är delaktiga i användningen av film. Frågeställningarna i studien är: Hur inramas och diskuteras barns handlingar av förskollärare i användning av film som dokumentation? På vilket sätt är barnen delaktiga i att använda film? Studien är baserad på några förskollärares upplevelser av fenomenet i fråga och är en kvalitativ studie där personliga intervjuer har genomförts. I tidigare forskning redovisas hur barn påverkas av film i förskolans sociala miljö samt förskollärares kunskap om film och dess konsekvenser. Genom socialsemiotik framgår hur förskollärare ser på film och bilder på olika sätt beroende på hur vi ser på vår omvärld.

This thesis examines Swedish composers' modes of work and production within the Swedish film industry. It starts off with a historical overview treating live music in early silent film, the conversion to sound and the Swedish production climate until present time. The analysis consists of contemporary empirical studies; interviews with people writing music for film, TV and commercials. The musician's perspective is in focus but directors and other film workers are heard as well. The situation for female composers in a male-dominated industry is also discussed.
