This C-level thesis deals with Russian tourism in Sweden and explains what measures are being used in Sweden in order to attract Russian tourists. Since a high number of companies and organizations are actively involved in developing Russian tourism to Sweden, we have decided to focus primarily on the most active Swedish and Russian companies within the industry. Therefore several big and well-established companies, often located in the largest cities of Russia and Sweden i.e. Stockholm, Moscow and St Petersburg, have been the subject of our analysis.Chapter ?Bakgrund? presents numerous facts and information about the nature and scale of the Russian tourist market today and in the nearest future.

The aim of this master thesis is to analyze how and why Scandinavian-American history has been used in exhibitions in both Scandinavia and the United States after the end of the Great Migration. More specifically, the thesis deals with the Swedish and American exhibitions of the controversial Kensington Rune Stone, discovered in Minnesota in 1898. Despite the fact that its authenticity has been disputed by academic expertise, it has been displayed by many prominent actors. The Rune Stone is one of many purportedly pre-Columbian artifacts found in the United States. Moreover, it is an identity marker, harboring many kinds of identity constructions. The thesis therefore focuses on the meanings that the Rune Stone has been charged with since its discovery, as historical culture and in specific exhibits, on how it has been displayed, and on why it has been exhibited at  national museums in both Sweden and the United States. The principal source materials are five exhibitions of the Kensington Rune Stone.

Trafikverket förfogar över närmare 4000 järnvägsbroar i olika skick och ålder runt om i landet. Beståndet är i ständigt behov av underhåll och erfordrar kontinuerliga kontroller. Den här rapporten är utformad som en skadeutredning på en enkelspårig järnvägsbro söder om Solvarbo i Säter kommun. Järnvägsbron är i drift och här passerar över 10 000 tåg/år. Allt från snabbtåg till godståg.

This diploma work was performed at the department for radiation physics at the Health University in Linköping. Its aim was to develop a method to retrospectively quantify the absorbed dose in coral. Coral is a material which suites well as a retrospective dosimeter because when exposed to radioactivity its induced free radicals are stable in time. The number of radicals is proportional to the accumulated dose so the dose can be calculated by quantifying the radicals. Therefore, coral can tell us something about the past environment and also be used in dating purposes.A young, modern coral from the Red Sea was studied and also a fossil one which I was given from the Natural History Museum in Stockholm.

The making of a cultural historical exhibition usually involves the collaboration of two categories of professionals: the curator, in charge of the exhibition content, and the designer. From these positions, representing content and form, the team is in charge of cooperating towards a shared goal ? the exhibition ? which is the spatial expression of ideas.This MA thesis is based on my work experience as a designer of cultural historical exhibitions. By means of situations where my perspective collided with that of the museum curators?, I examine our different concepts on a number of issues: the meaning of an exhibition; the process; and the perception of what our respective roles are.

Millesgården is a museum on the island of Lidingö outside Stockholm. It contains the buildings which were the home and studios of the artist Carl Milles and his artist wife Olga. It also contains the grounds that originated as the garden of their home. Carl Milles later developed the garden into a sculpture park where a great part of the sculptors works are on display. In this report only the sculpture park is treated.

AbstraktLiksom skolan utgör en arena för alltmer pluralistiska elevgrupper med vitt skilda erfarenheter strävar konstmuseer idag efter att vara en representativ arena för en alltmer globaliserad konstvärld. Den problematik de står inför, samt hur de hanterar den då de arbetar för att inte reproducera en normerad maktrelation mellan västerlandet och resten av världen är kärnan i mitt arbete. Med postkoloniala frågeställningar om makt och diskurser försöker jag belysa vilken identitet vi i den västerländska kulturen ger både dem vi beskriver, samt oss själva, när vi definierar "icke-västerländsk" konst på ett specifikt sätt. För att kanalisera de postkoloniala frågeställningar jag undersöker tittar jag närmare på utställningen Africa Remix, (Moderna Museet i Stockholm 2006 ? 2007) eftersom den var en utställning som medvetet förhöll sig till den representationsproblematik som jag undersöker.

Det storskaliga och industrialiserade jordbruk som utvecklats under den senare hälften av nittonhundratalet har inneburit stora förändringar för odlingslandskapet. Den biologiska mångfalden har minskat kraftigt och kulturbärande landskapselement har hotats. Därför finns det nationella miljömålet Ett rikt odlingslandskap som syftar till att forma ett produktivt odlingslandskap som främjar växt- och djurliv, men som också är värdefullt för människan utifrån kulturhistoriska och estetiska aspekter. Uppsatsen tar sin utgångspunkt i miljöpsykologiska teorier för att undersöka vilket värde jordbrukets kulturmiljö har för människans välbefinnande och hur den kan användas som rehabiliteringsverktyg. Företagare i Skåne som bedriver rehabilitering i gårdsmiljö har intervjuats för att ta reda på vilka förutsättningar som krävs för denna typ av verksamhet.

This master's thesis in Library and Information Science examines how the genre division of the horror fictionis constructed at the children and youth department of a library by studying subject headings of the titles.The aim is to examine what is included in the genre, in the two labelings called vampire and nail-biter/spine-chiller, what separates them, and what difference there is between children and youth thrillers/horror fiction. Also the cover designs and how readers portray these books are studied. The study is made in order to develop the knowledge of the genre to help librarians and borrowers. The great popularity of the genre among borrowers and people in general, and the importance of having knowledge of things that borrowers are interested in, are the motivation of performing the study. The method is a case study and conducted with and based on genre theory which shows how a genre is defined, how it can be divided and what conventions there are for the horror fiction in particular.

Begreppet "digitalt kulturarv" har två betydelser: dels digitaliserat fysiskt kulturarv, till exempel digitala kopior av föremål, dels det kulturarv som består av företeelser som skapats digitalt och därmed inte har någon fysisk motsvarighet. Det är det senare området, föremål som i sin ursprungsform är digitala, som denna uppsats fokuserar på. Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka om digitala kulturföremål kan räknas som en del av museernas uppdrag, samt hur museer i så fall kan samla in, bevara och visa dessa föremål.Digitalt material bygger inte på att föremålen har en fysisk form, och de ställs därför ofta i motsats till de materiella föremål som museer samlar in och bevarar. Däremot utesluter ingen av de museidefinitioner som undersöks i uppsatsen att museer även hanterar immateriellt kulturarv. Om museet dessutom inte fokuserar på föremålen i sig utan på föremålens betydelser och sammanhang, vilket många menar, så spelar det mindre roll om det som förmedlar betydelsen eller sammanhanget har fysisk form eller ej.Bland andra Unesco har också poängterat att det är viktigt att digitalt kulturarv bevaras.

En bok, en film, ett bibliotek, ett museum eller Internet innehåller ingen kunskap i sig. De är på olika sätt och i olika grad möjligheter till att producera kunskap för den person som har den kompetens som krävs för att tillgodogöra sig den. Mitt intresseområde i detta magisterarbete är hur Internet som plats kan användas i ett pedagogiskt syfte och frågeställningen lyder:Hur kan Internet som plats och Internets visuella möjligheter användas, för att utveckla ett interaktivt läromedel? Hur kan detta interaktiva läromedel utformas så att bilden blir huvudsaklig informationskälla? Mot bakgrund av frågeställningen ovan består en del av magisterarbetet av att förarbeta, planera, strukturera och skissa fram en webbsida som jag kallar Animationshuset. På denna sida ska användarna kunna lära sig enkel animation.

The Swedish photographer and artist Eva Klasson, based in Paris in the 1970s, gained attention for her series of black-and-white photography of her own naked body, which opened up for an international artistic career in the late 1970s. Despite a promising career she however abandoned photography and disappeared from the artistic sphere only a few years after her debut. There has been a renewed interest in Klasson?s work in Sweden the last decade where she has been exhibited at museums and galleries. Today she is represented at art museums and institutions including Moderna Museet, The Modern Museum of Art, in Stockholm.

There are few legally protected gardens in Sweden, and those that are protected are mainly from the 17th and 18th centuries. All time periods have the same value and more modern gardens therefore needs to be protected. Evaluating parks is, however, complicated since it do not exist any methods. One environment from the 1960?s that has not been protected is Televerket in Farsta, Stockholm. The facility has been classified as worthy of preservation by Stockholm City Museum and has received the Kasper Salin Prize.
