Female musicians and actors are being disadvanteged in the music industry, because of standards that prevents women from participating on equal terms. Unequal distribution of resources and status depends on power structures which creates an hierarchy. This study is about how an organization, Femtastic, works for equality and diversity in the field of music, how they experience their positions and their possibilities. Also how they relate to the cultural policy objectives. Femtastic is trying to create a structural change in the male-dominated music industry.

Title: Playing techniques of the eight-keyed traverso in Irish and Breton traditional music. The dissertation examines basic aspects of playing techniques of the eight-keyed traverso, as it is used in Irish and Breton traditional music. The background material consists of four interviews with four professional flute players as well as literature that considers the subject from different perspectives. Forming teacher teams is currently the standard way of organizing teachers in Swedish Compulsory Schools. This is the result of a process that started in the 1970s.Traditionally the culture of teaching has been one of isolation. Once the door to the classroom is shut, what happens behind the door is up to the teacher to decide. Over the past thirty years a lot of time has been dedicated to making fundamental changes in the way teachers interact with their colleagues. Today the idea of teachers forming teams is generally accepted but still the core of a Swedish teacher?s job is that of a lone worker.

In the following study I probe the social world of hard-rock music. By conducting interviews with four young male enthusiasts of this music I try to develop a general picture of this social world, as well as of the basic elements on which this particular subculture is constructed. The identity of a hard-rocker is based upon a number of factors beyond just a preference for that music. Throughout the interviews I encountered many implicit norms that one must followed in order to be able to see oneself as a true hard-rocker. I also found that from the respondents? perspective, the mainstream culture has, throughout the history of metal music, used various ways to counter the spreading of this genre.

Municipal schools of music are a Swedish phenomenon that was formed all over Sweden after the Second World War.

The purpose of this study is to examine how two different primary schools with the same school management district work with daily physical activity. We have chosen to conduct our investigation based on interviews. Through the interviews, we can highlight the teacher´s and principal´s interpretations of the concept regarding physical activity and find out the school´s arguments and working methods for pupil´s physical activity. These two schools work with physical activity in two different ways and the study describes the teacher´s and principal's choice of approach. Since our training is directed towards the younger ages, school years 1-3, we chose to interview teachers who work in these classes.

This study aims to investigate how a number of students who are at the end of a teachers? educations program in social studies, geography, religion and history interpret that the national curriculums states that every teacher is responsible for students language development and should be supportive of language backgrounds. In the light of the curriculums the study explores how the teacher education students feel that the education has prepared them for teaching children with Swedish as a second language. MySpace andYouTube are two of the biggest sites for this free distribution and is therefore my main choiseof study.The purpose of this essay was to find out how and if these changes have made a difference formusicians without a record deal to reach an audience by themselves.

The purpose of my essay is towrite about newly qualified elementary teachers during their first professional experience and their opinions of a teacher's identity. My interest is a result of that I myself am studying to be a teacher and am reaching the end of my studies.My purpose is mainly to examine how teachers first experience their role and if their education helped them resolve any problems they had. My aim was also to examine what the teacher?s identity and role and the question of leadership means for new teachers?I have used a qualitative interview method.The results showed that new teachers experience difficulties and that their training does not prepare them sufficiently. The results also showed that the teacher?s identity, the teacher?s role and leadership are factors that grow with time and experience in the teaching role and that it is not something that the beginner teachers acquire during their education. I have achieved a clearer picture of what to expect and how to enter into the role of teacher with support and time..

Syftet med studien är att få fördjupad insikt i hur sångpedagoger arbetar med musikteori i enskild sångundervisning på gymnasiet. I bakgrundskapitlet presenteras de rådande betygskriterierna inom ämnet Instrument eller sång I samt tidigare forskning och litteratur som har anknytning till studiens syfte. Jag har använt mig av kvalitativa intervjuer och har sedan analyserat materialet ur ett sociokulturellt perspektiv. Samtliga informanter har utbildning från musikhögskola och arbetar vid gymnasieskolans estetiska program. De beskriver sin syn på musikteori ur ett sångperspektiv, berättar hur de arbetar med musikteori i sin undervisning samt ger exempel på hur eleverna kan motiveras till lärande. Resultatet visar att alla informanter anser att musikteori och notläsningsförmåga är viktigt för elevernas musikaliska helhetsbild.

Is culture accessible to all in Sweden or do challenges in accessibility begin in childhood? During the academic year of 2010/2011 the Schools for Music and Arts in Göteborg participated in a project entitled En kulturskola för alla (A School for Music and Arts for All). This thesis' objective is to describe the project as well as examine the method the Schools of Music and Arts use to include children with disabilities and what suggestions can be made to further develop the project. Through En kulturskolla för alla, approximately 200 children with disabilities now haave better teachers. The project included 18 music and arts teachers from eight schools.

AbstractThe aim of this study is to find out how the central content of the compulsory school curriculum (Lgr11) is handled in three teacher?s manuals for instruction in reading and writing for grade 1, and how these consider interaction and variation in learning how to read and write. Through a qualitative analysis with a hermeneutic approach, the three teacher?s manuals in Swedish for grade 1 were subjected to a close reading. The result shows that parts of the central content of the curriculum are considered, but that it is by studying exercises and texts that these become visible.
