Fallstudie av två företag, om etnisk mångfald

The purpose of our essay was to understand better how two companies manage ethnical diversity in their organization and standards of a Multicultural organization. For study objects we selected two companies nominated as ?good examples? of companies working with ethnical diversity in their organization. The study objects are Föreningsparbanken and Pågen AB in Sweden. The result verifies that both companies have by some term a heterogenic staff of workmen in some parts of the organization although the heterogeneity occurs only on a lower level at the organizational hierarchy.

Klassifikationssystem i mångkulturella samhällen

This master thesis deals with classifications schemes in Multicultural societies. The aim is to investigate how well the Swedish classification scheme SAB has been adapted to the Multicultural society of today. I have done a comparative analysis between the SAB and the UDC to see if an international classification scheme would have better possibilities to represent a Multicultural society. I have asked some institutions that have a large collection of documents dealing with minority cultures how they experienced the SAB. I have also read literature about classification theories and compared universal enumerative, facetted and special classification schemes to see if the possibilities to classify documents on, or related to minorities differed from each other.

In the context of world globalization, Sweden has today become a Multicultural society, where many different cultures, religions, values and approaches are trying to co-exist. When the Swedish government's integration policy was put into effect, one sought to open the way for a more peaceful coexistence between majority and minority people. The intention was that everyone, through mutual interaction, would learn to come together and learn to respect each other's differences. It was suggested that an intercultural approach should permeate all education, including preschool activity. There are particular guidelines for a culture and tradition promotion work within the preschool in the new revised curriculum (Lpfö 98, rev.

The purpose of this study is to search for and compare how teachers in a Multicultural municipal school and in a Multicultural independent school design their teaching to benefit all the students in the classroom, regardless of background.I wanted to get information about how teachers work from an intercultural perspective. To get information I used qualitative methods, which includes interviews and observations. I interviewed four teachers working in a primary school. Two from a independent school and two from a municipal school. The result revealed that both the independent school and municipal school are working from an intercultural perspective where they try to find different methods to reach every student in the class. Their biggest similarity is that the teachers put a lot of effort on language development since the Swedish language is key to the Swedish society.

Endast en utopi eller en realitet? En studie om Malmö stads interkulturella förhållningssätt i skolan

Since a decade back in time, Sweden is officially recognised as a Multicultural society. Different cultures exist side by side and the city of Malmo is one of the clearest examples of this setting. In Multicultural societies, the dichotomy of ?us? versus ?them? is common, which leads to segregation and asymmetrical relations of power. The concept of intercultural education is in theory known to be able to create a position of ?us? where every culture is equally recognized and reinterpreted and thus become an alternative to the dichotomy.

My thesis is based on a qualitative study. The purpose of the study is to investigate whether the educationalist at an especially chosen school in Stockholm promotes the students Multicultural background in the education or not. This is due to the fact that the Swedish school to a considerable degree reflects the Multicultural Swedish society. The socio-cultural starting point is when people come together and meet. The language is the tool of the socio-culture and it is the dialogue, discussion and sympathetic understanding that makes people meet. The cultural concept is diffuse and very wide. Everyone has their own definition of it.

Bibliotekets roll i integrationspolitiken ett postkolonialt perspektiv

Sweden of today is a so-called Multicultural society. In this thesis we wanted to examine how mono, multi- and intercultural issues are expressed in culture-political documents. We also wanted to know how librarians for whom these documents are supposed to be guidelines expressed themselves in these matters. Monoculturalism can be described as a static perspective laid upon culture which emphasises cultural purity. A Multicultural society describes a society were the nation consists of many different cultures alongside each other, without a genuinely common core.

The migration flows of today reach out longer, there are more efficent ways of communication and travel. The political view of migration has changed over the years and the current perspective is the one of mutual integration and cultural diversity.

The competition between the Swedish municipalities has increased as the world has become more globalized, which means that they need to become more attractive for sustaining sound finances and not to find themselves to have a downward trend. One possibility to show the attractiveness of a place is by using place marketing and therewith attaining a stronger brand position. There are 20 suburban municipalities in the county of Stockholm, of which six are Multicultural or are having a minimum of 20 percent immigrants among the residents. These immigrant areas are segregated based on class, income and culture. Problems associated with these areas have historical aspects that dates further back than modern immigration does.

Vem tillhör mångkulturen? Ideologi, förkroppsligande och gränsdragningar i svenskämnenas läroplaner

In 2011, the new upper secondary school curriculum Lgy 11 set out to distinguish the characteristics of the two subjects Swedish and Swedish as a second language. This thesis analyzes the consequences, or rather the underlying premises for such a characterization with the contradictory ideologies of the Multicultural society as a point of departure. Using theories of cultural and linguistic hegemony, the thesis applies an ideological critique to the comparative text analysis of the two curriculums. The aim is to reveal the underlying assumptions of the two student bases as representatives of the majority society and the minorities. The results show that the characterizations of the two subjects are dominantly made along the line of the Multicultural experience versus linguistic and cultural heritage.

The aim was to find out teachers in Swedish as a second language in primary schools view on how they work with a language development teaching in a Multicultural environment. I did a semi-structured interview where I both made questions before the interview and also used individualized follow-up questions during my interview. I did that because I really wanted to get answers to the subject and the aim of the essay. Two teachers in Swedish as a second language have been interviewed. The result shows that a holistic approach to language development is important, where great emphasis lies on understanding. Teachers say that communication and interaction are key factors and that it is important with good linguistically appropriate and understandable texts where the words/concepts are learned and used in the right context. .

Parental involvement in Multicultural Preschool Settings - A challenge for Educators

AbstractBackground The importance of establishing well-functioning parent-teacher relationships are clear objectives in the Swedish National Curriculum for Preschools, (Lpfö 98, Lpo 94 & Lgr 11 chapter 1-2). Parental involvement in preschool activities is seen as important for several reasons. Facilitating healthy child development, learning and socialisation are some of these reasons. During the past twenty years Sweden has become a Multicultural society. Today, people from more than 170 countries live in Sweden, and about 18% of the population are first or second generation immigrants.
