Abstract: In this study, I have searched for answers to whether teachers use pictures in their teaching with the purpose of making education easier. Can we use the pictures with a pedagogic purpose? In this study, I have interviewed middle-school teachers concerning this subject.My results show that teachers actually use pictures in order to make the education easier for pupils but they do not do it very often. They think that they do not have the time to look for the good pictures that go with their subject and that they can show in the classroom. They also think that the pictures in the textbooks are good enough and they do not discuss the pictures very much.

I denna studie undersöks orsaker till att vissa elever inte är aktiva i någon föreningsidrott samt hur idrott och hälsa kan få fler elever intresserade och engagerade i föreningsidrotten. Fokus har varit att undersöka de föreningsinaktiva elevernas perspektiv och hur deras motivation i ämnet idrott och hälsa ser ut.Studien utgår från strukturerade intervjuer med tio elever samt en svensk version avSport motivation scale och Academic motivation scale för att tydliggöra elevernas motivation. Resultatet visar att de elever som inte är aktiva i en idrottsförening har låg motivation till idrott och hälsa. De anledningar som framkommer till att eleverna inte är delaktiga i någon idrottsförening är främst att de inte har något intresse eller har andra intressen. Även tidsbrist och för seriös satsning inom idrottsföreningarna uppges som orsak till att inte delta i en idrottsförening.

Syftet med detta examensarbete är att lyfta fram teorier om vad som motiverar elever till skolarbetet. Vår huvudfråga är; Vad motiverar elever i skolarbetet? Utifrån denna fråga har vi skapat tre stycken underfrågor; Hur kan detta förstås med utgångspunkt i begreppen inre och yttre motivation? Hur skiljer sig svaren mellan de olika årskurserna? Hur skiljer sig svaren mellan pojkar och flickor? För att kunna besvara dessa frågeställningar har vi genomfört en enkätundersökning med 134 elever från årskurs 1-3. De teoretiska utgångspunkter som genomsyrar hela arbetet är inre och yttre motivation. Vår studie visar att både den inre och yttre motivationen har en betydande roll i elevers motivation till skolarbetet.

A child with functional disorder getting close to starting school has different types of schooling to choose between. Parents and the school of the matter have to agree in consultation. I use the conceptions included and segregated schooling to show different ways attend school. By included education I mean that all students with as well as without functional disorder in a group shall be completely comprised in the situation and not be separated from the group by individual exercises (Fors 2004). A segregated schooling is often pursued in special school where all the students have functional disorder and the education usually takes place in separate buildings (Emanuelsson 2001).I have completed a qualitative case study of a boy who is 14 years old and has the functional disorder Down?s syndrome and has been placed at a special school his entire schooling.

Föreliggande studies syfte var att undersöka vad studenter på civilingenjörsprogrammet med inriktning mot teknisk fysik och elektroteknik beskriver är deras motivation till att genomföra sina studier och om denna förändras över tid. Frågeställningarna som legat till grund för studien är: Vad beskriver studenterna påverkar deras motivation? Vad består motivationen av? Förändras studenternas motivation över tid, om ja på vilket sätt? Gör studenterna själva något för att påverka sin motivation, och i så fall vad? Studien är longitudinell och bygger sammanlagt på 32 intervjuer med åtta studenter som har intervjuats kontinuerligt under 3-4 år. Metoden som använts kan beskrivas som en induktiv empirinära kvalitativ metod då innehållet i data fått styra arbetsprocessen. Resultatet visar att studenternas motivation utgörs av tre byggstenar som alla har betydelse för motivationen på lång sikt - upplevelser av: meningsfullhet/tillämpbarhet, kompetens/behärskande och socialt sammanhang/socialt stöd.

This thesis primarily includes a study on whether companies can develop a mathematical activity that supports students' motivation in mathematics. The work was done together with Midroc Electro, a company that pays attention to the difficulty of recruiting and therefore was interested in investigating how the business world would be able to contribute.The thesis can be divided into three stages. The first part comprised by a exploration into research on student motivation regarding mathematics as well as numerous interviews with engineers to see how the research findings did fit with Midroc Electros reality. In these studies it became clear that the student who aims for a profession whose education or work requires math belongs to the group of students who primarily manage their studies in mathematics, that is, those that have the greatest motivation to work hard and complete their studies.Research information and interviews were compared and resulted in the thesis second part, Midroc Challenge. An activity where students primarily came to learn about the engineering profession and secondly how mathematics can be used in the engineering profession.

How do we match our education with the needs of the construction line of business and the requirementsof the Swedish National Agency for education? Is there something that we have to change?In this study I have asked our former students about their opinion of our education and I have also asked them to give me their view on what a good teacher is like. I have been able to benefit a lot from their answers in my efforts to be that good teacher. This survey took place at Facebook.The answers showed that we carry on a piece of solid workmanship. But you can always improve, try harder.

Denna studie syftar till att granska elevers uppfattningar om dagens svenska skola som framgångsfaktor. Tre frågeställningar har konstruerats; (a) hur ser eleverna på motivation i skolan, (b) hur ser eleverna på deras framtida väg till framgång samt (c) ser eleverna andra vägar till framgång utöver den väg som skola och utbildning erbjuder och hur påverkar detta deras motivation att prestera i skolan? Då syftet är av en tydlig subjektiv karaktär, har en kvalitativ metod och teknik tillämpats. Studiens teoretiska utgångspunkt utgörs av två teman; motivation och vägar till framgång. Dessa två ämnesområden innehåller underrubriker som utgör den tematiska ordning som uppsatsen följer.

This paper describes what some 9th grade students think of their sex education in school, especially when it comes to gender, sexual identity, norms and deviation. I have been using group interviews in two different schools, two groups per school. The result of the students' answers have been analysed on the basis of queer theory focusing on gender and sexual identity. The result of the study shows that the students consider their sexual education to be lacking, especially when it comes to gender, sexual identity, norms and deviation. Another conclusion of the analysis is that a sex education grounded in queer theory would be more inclusive..

Den här uppsatsen har uppkommit ur ett gemensamt intresse för hur vi båda ser på motivation och meningsskapande. Genom den verksamhetsförlagda tiden (VFT) och olika arbeten på förskolor under utbildningens gång har pedagoger i möten framhållit att motivationen för yrket sjunker.

The purpose of this study was to examine how four teachers with different teaching experiences treat and think about insubordination in school. The study emphasizes on questions like: When and why does disorder occur? How do the teachers manage disorderly conduct in the classroom? and Could there be a conflict between the teacher?s expectations and management, and the needs and motivation of the pupil?    It was evident through interviews with these four teachers that their statements could be divided into similar themes which subsequently could be put into the motivational structure of Abraham H. Maslow.       The conclusion of the study was that teachers may possibly have a better chance of managing disorder in their classroom if they are aware of the connection between disorderly conduct and a person?s needs and motivation. .

Det övergripande syftet för denna studie är att söka svar på vad som motiverar elever till lärande samt vad som påverkar elevers motivation. Dessutom syftar studien till att ge kunskap om lärares motivationsarbete.Studien innehåller en litteraturdel samt en kvalitativ och en kvantitiativ studie i form av tre intervjuer med lärare samt två med speciallärare och 48 elevers svar på en enkät.Resultatet av intervjuerna visar på att det är viktigt med ett samarbete mellan föräldrar och skolpersonal för att uppnå optimal motivation bland eleverna samt att de känner sig trygga i skolan.Resultatet av enkäterna tyder på att många av eleverna går till skolan för att de anser att kunskapen är till nytta för framtida studier men även utanför skolan..

The purpose of this essay is to show the opportunities and difficulties of teaching within distance education. I will show this from two different parts of the world. One being Sweden and the other Australia, both countries run a distance education program with similar reasons students whom travelling, some living hundreds of miles from any schools and some students with health and or social disadvantages. This study is based on the actual teacher?s accounts and experiences the opportunities and difficulties in teaching in distance.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the kind of support society offer parents, by illuminating some of the parent education programs which are arranged by social services. By interviewing some of those who are involved in these education programs, we tried to figure out what society would like to mediate as good parenting.Our main questions was:* Why are parental education needed in society of today?* What are the purpose of the education?* For whose sake are these educations arranged, for the childrens, the parents or in public interest.* This model which you are using, what would it like to mediate as most important in good parenting.We found that the respondents all agreed that the main purpose of these educations was to improve the relationship between parents and children. However they all pointed out the fact that there are great gains in public finances to do as well..

Open source is growing outside the boundaries of hackers, amateurs and software development, creating a humongous potential in many different areas and aspects of society. The intrinsic and extrinsic motivations that drives open source have been in the subject of much research recently, but how they affect each other when paid and unpaid contributors come together is still hidden in obscurity. In this study I investigate how intrinsic and extrinsic motivation correlates with each other and how those correlations affect paid and unpaid open source software contributors. The literature synthesis is based on of systematic reviews through searches in library databases, identification of articles by searching on the Internet and by reading relevant books. My results indicate that intrinsic and extrinsic motivations continuously affect each other and that paid contributors are more vulnerable since their extrinsic motivation in terms of money is reached only when many other motivations are fulfilled.
