This essay is about how the library can make a difference inintegrating the minority Roma people into the Swedish society.Roma people have been subjected to persecution anddiscrimination for a long time. In this essay, I examine theactivities, functions and capabilities of libraries that can have apositive effect for the integration of the Roma people. Myquestions are: How can libraries reach out to the Roma people andwhat function do the library have for the integration of the Romapeople? I have used Marianne Anderssons and Dorte Skot-Hansens theory the four functions of the library ? the culutralcenter, the knowledge center, the information center and the socialcenter. Based on this theory, I have interpreted and analyzed thematerial that I have gathered through interviews and literaturestudies such as thesis, dissertations, repors and parliamentdocuments.

The purpose of the present paper is to examine the political debate on the education of newly arrived immigrant pupils at secondary school age. The following issues are under scrutiny:What are the goals, expressed by politicians during the examined periods, for the education of newly arrived pupils?What ideas about education and what educational ideals can be observed in the political debate on the education of newly arrived pupils?Has there been any change, during the examined period, in the policy debate on the education of newly arrived pupils?The research material consists of reports and statements of the Education Committee, as well as a number of parliamentary protocols. Two five-year periods, 1971-1975 and 2006-2010, are studied and compared. All in all, the material consists of 23 documents issued during these periods.

Många elever i de svenska skolorna har svenska som andraspråk och har mer eller mindre knapphändiga kunskaper i svenska och därmed svårt att kommunicera. En del är nyanlända och kan inte kommunicera alls på det nya språket. En väg ut ur dilemmat är att hitta andra sätt att uttrycka sig och kommunicera på.Uppsatsen undersöker möjligheter till att ge dessa elever de bästa förutsättningarna för en positiv språkutveckling genom undervisning i ett utvidgat språk- och textbegreppsperspektiv. En konstnärlig process i fråga om skapande är en av utvecklingsvägarna.Frågeställningen berör integration mellan bild och svenska som andraspråk som pedagogisk metod.Eleverna måste få lära sig att använda nya redskap och synsätt för att tillgodogöra sig aktuell kunskap. Det är viktigt att tänka sig språkutveckling i ett utvidgat språkbegrepp och integration mellan ämnen är ett sätt att sätta fokus på kunskap ur flera perspektiv.Resultatet tar upp undervisningens utformning, vad som händer vid en integration, vad den leder till och hur eleverna reagerar på det.Integration mellan bild och svenska som andraspråk har positiva effekter.

The purpose of this study was to investigate how two students at intermediate level in reading and writing disabilities and two special education teachers perceive the use of assistive tools in school. The questions used to answer the purpose was how assistive tools are used based on students´ perceptions, the purposes for which assistive tools are used based on special education teachers´ perceptions, what opportunities and/or barriers pupils and special education teachers experiences with assistive tools and how it works when assistive tools are implemented based on students´ and special education teachers´ perceptions. Data were collected by interviews. The results show that the assistive tools are mainly used for writing assignments and to ?read-with-ears?, primarily to facilitate the learning process in the classroom.

Today there is a large consensus about the importance of Swedish schools providingconditions enabling students to develop the ability to manage and learn through information technologies (IT). The goal of this study was to describe and examine how national education goals for the use of IT transformed into municipal IT-strategies for the school. A content analysis was conducted of thirty-eight municipal IT-strategies collected from Swedish municipal websites on the Internet. The content in the municipal IT-strategies was compared with the content in both the Swedish education act and the national curriculum. The results showed that the content in the Swedish education act and the national curriculum in fact was translated into municipal IT strategies, but that the range of strategies concerning technology, pedagogy and content in relation to IT was broad.

AbstractTo take the role of another is an important and a central part of human interaction. When we take the role of another we not only learn about them but also we learn about ourselves and how we interact with other people.  Social work in this form, working with directly with families in crises, is much about understanding other people?s perspective and feelings. It is important to know the strategy of one?s work and which perspective to work from.

I uppsatsen undersöks hur integration av invandrare i de areella näringarna (växtodling, djurhållning och skogsskötsel) och på landsbygden kan underlättas, med fokus på Västra Götalands län. Det sker dels genom en litteraturstudie i ämnet, dels genom att beskriva erfarenheter av några projekt inom grön integration som genomförts i Västra Götaland, finansierat av landsbygdsprogrammet 2007-2013. Flyktingar med olika bakgrund intervjuas också om sin syn på landsbygden och intresse av att bo på landsbygden och arbeta inom de gröna näringarna. Litteraturstudien täcker olika aspekter på integration, såsom integration på landsbygden jämfört med i städerna, kommuners och myndigheters roll, möjligheter för invandrare att etablera sig som företagare inom de gröna näringarna, och nischer inom de gröna näringarna som kan vara lämpliga/möjliga för invandrare att etablera sig inom. Invandrare i Sverige bor i hög utsträckning i städer. Svensk landsbygd domineras av etniska svenskar och åldersstrukturen på landsbygden är ogynnsam för de gröna näringarna. För att utvecklas behöver landsbygden attrahera unga människor, entreprenörer och barnfamiljer. Invandrare är entreprenörer i högre utsträckning än etniska svenskar, och det finns många invandrade barnfamiljer som vill bo och arbeta på landsbygden.

Our interest about interdisciplinary teaching has grown during our time at Högskolan Dalarna and especially during the subject physical education. It became clear that people learn in different ways. The theoretical education in school benefits the visual and auditory strong learners but the kinesthetic strong learners find it more difficult to absorb the information. We argue that integrating subjects is a good way to mix theory and practice and thus gives more students an opportunity to learn the content of the subject. The intention of this examination paper is to investigate the relationship between the attitudes of the teachers regarding interdisciplinary teaching, the practical restrains, possibilities and the presence of interdisciplinary teaching at three different schools.

ABSTRACTOverweight and obesity is an increasing problem worldwide although high-income countries take a leed. High BMI during pregnancy and delivery constitute to many risks for both the mother and her outcome. Intervention programmes with the purpose to get the pregnant women to eat healthier and to excercise more are now working out in many different shapes. The effect of these activities varies. The aim of this study was to investigate if interventions during pregnancy, with women who?s BMI are 25 or more, affects health of the mother and her expected child, delivery outcome and self estimated health.

Sverige är ett mångkulturellt land som präglas av många etniciteter, kulturer, språk och religioner. Detta leder till att integration berör hela samhället och inte bara nyinflyttade invandrare och det innebär att även majoritetsbefolkningen måste integreras i det nya mångkulturella samhället. Vi ser att enda möjligheten att integreras i det nya samhället är att lära sig språket. Vårt syfte med uppsatsen är att försöka belysa invandrares möjligheter/svårigheter till att bli integrerade i det svenska samhället. För att kunna ge en bild av detta valde vi att utgå ifrån Giddens teori om tre olika modeller till integration och symbolisk interaktionism.

The purpose of this study is to extend the understanding of how professionals in modern organisations want to be managed. We especially investigate professionals changing industries to describe if, and how, aprofessional in this situation is becoming a professional again after the change. This to find connections between intrinsic motivation and attitudes towards professionalism on one side, and applicable managerial methodson the other. Best practice in managing professionals is traditionally considered to be non-invasive methodologies such as indoctrination and training. Beyond that, operational-level management is usually considered to be bound to fail.The analysis suggests the following:? A professional changing industry will become professional again.? The driving force for becoming professional again is the strive for horisontal specialization, induced by higher education.? Management of professionals needs to account for the integrity of the horizontal specialization of the professional.

Syfte Uppsatsens syfte är att jämförande och beskrivande undersöka hur föräldrar upplever att skolvalet påverkat deras barns situation ur ett integrationsperspektiv. Metod Materialet för undersökningen har samlats in genom kvalitativa samtalsintervjuer, dessa har jämförts dels med varandra och dels med tidigare forskning. Vi har varit i kontakt med två olika föräldragrupper, en i Spanien och en i Sverige. Resultat Skolvalet kan ses som ett aktivt deltagande i samhället genom det aktiva val som det innebär att välja. Båda respondentgrupperna är överens om att det är viktigt att integreras och att det största ansvaret ligger hos invandrarna. Anledningarna till att man väljer en skola som speglar den egna kulturen är ofta desamma.

Syfte: Enligt tidigare forskning tenderar företagsförvärv att misslyckas och inte ge det eftersökta värdet. Integrationen är en del av förvärvet som anses vara en svår uppgift och därmed är huvudsyftet i denna studie att ge en ökad förståelse för den sociokulturella integrationen efter ett företagsförvärv. Delsyftet blir därmed att belysa ledningens roll och faktorer som berör mänskliga aspekter som kan vara viktiga att beakta vid en integration.Metod: Studien har utgått från ett hermeneutiskt perspektiv där fenomenet som studerats ses vara av socialkonstruktivistisk art. Teori och empiri har arbetats fram iterativt med hjälp av abduktion där grunden för studien har varit i form av en fallstudie med ett kvalitativt angreppssätt genom halvstrukturerade intervjuer. Datainsamlingen och analysen i studien har använt grounded theory som inspirationskälla för tillvägagångssättet.Resultat & slutsats: Studien tyder på att det finns en balansgång mellan att besvara medarbetarnas frågor och bibehålla de långsiktiga målen.

Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is a relatively new method for learning a foreign language. CLIL programs are growing in popularity and more and more schools are adopting it all around the world. There is still no special education for the teachers working with CLIL, though research suggests it may be an effective method for achieving good results.To get a realistic view of the work of a CLIL teacher, I have interviewed four different mathematic teachers who work at CLIL international schools in Spain with English as the foreign language. I have compared their methods and experiences with the main ideas of current research in this particular field.The survey shows that the teachers? views about how CLIL is to be used do not completely correspond to that of the research.
