Kolonialismen har av många pekats ut som en central anledning till den avsaknad av ekonomisk tillväxt som idag kännetecknar Afrika. Genom en analys av tre aspekter som är teoretiskt sammankopplade med kolonialismen, den ensidiga handeln, avsaknaden av regional handel samt försämrade bytesvillkor besvaras frågan om hur kolonialismen förändrade den Västafrikanska handeln. Diskussio¬nen går sedan över till hur dessa förändringar i sin tur påverkade regionens förut¬sättningar för ekonomisk tillväxt. Analysen tar sin början med kolonialismens intåg i regionen kring 1885 och sträcker sig fram till nutid. Slutsatsen är att även om kolonialismen förde med sig ett antal förändringar, såsom en kraftigt ökad handel med Europa och kroniska bytesunderskott, är det tydligt att den inte för¬ändrade den grundläggande handelsstrukturen i Västafrika.

In this thesis I set out to study how the reading of fictional literature is viewed, legitimatized and operationalized in two educational domains: the recently revised steering documents that all Swedish teachers must relate to, as well as a selection of teaching materials designed for education in the Swedish language for upper secondary school. The teaching material I have studied has been recently updated in order to correspond with the new steering documents. I relate my analysis to previous research about the use of fiction in education, and I also combine my analysis of the two educational domains to see whether the underlying intentions of the steering documents have influenced the revision of the teaching material. The outcome indicates that the steering documents? previous focus on culture has diminished although a certain insecurity as to how to use the concept and deal with the issue of whose culture should be taught can be identified.

Bishop Alois Hudal is a man who is often mentioned when the relationship between the Vatican and the national socialistic Germany of 1933-1945 is discussed. In these cases he is usually presented as a Nazi and sometimes even called ?the brown Bishop?. One of the contributing factors for this infamous title, perhaps the most contributing, is the Bishops book Die Grundlagen des Nationalsozialismus. National Socialism is a Weltanschauung with a certain set of doctrines that is hard, or rather impossible, to combine with any other Weltanschauung, whether it is a philosophical or a religious one.

I min uppsats vill jag inbjuda till en alternativ tolkning av Hjalmar Söderbergs Martin Bircks ungdom (1901). Syftet med uppsatsen är att ge förståelse för Martin Bircks karaktär och handlande genom att belysa den centrala relationen mellan Martin och modern. För att analysera Martins psykologi ställs hans gestalt mot den historiska samtidens uppfattningar om psykologi. Jag har även använt mig av ett psykoanalytiskt angreppssätt, framför allt grundat på Sigmund Freuds idéer, vilket fungerar både som litterär teori och metod.I min undersökning har jag funnit att Martin är en neurotisk person som lider av många av de psykiska problem som var vanliga runt 1900-talets sekelskifte, så som neurasteni. Jag har i enlighet med freudiansk psykoanalys tolkat Martins neuros som grundad i en inre konflikt mellan detet och överjaget.

The purpose of this Masters thesis is to examine how young womens sexuality is described in Swedish youth novels. The analysis is based upon eight books of which four were published during the period from 1970 to 1975 and four books were published during 2000 to 2005. The theoretical framework is based on a gender theoretical perspective where Yvonne Hirdmans theories about a gender system and Ylva Elwin-Nowaks and Heléne Thomssons ideas about gender construction are crucial. Also Anthony Giddens theories about sexuality in the late modern society are used, where the plastic sexuality and the pure relationship are central ideas. The method is based upon textual analysis, and a model of analysis is constructed with its basis in the theoretical attempt.

The aim of this master thesis is to examine how female identity is formed in two novels and two short stories from the 1880?s. As a framework we rely on the method outlined by Pierre Bourdieu when he approaches the cultural and social worlds through the concept of fields. I denna uppsats har jag undersökt Josefina Holmlund som studerade i Düsseldorf under dess storhetstid i mitten av 1800-talet och Pamela Noréus som var elev till Marcus Larsson och anammade det düsseldorfska landskapsmåleriet. Jag har undersökt vad landskapet som motiv hade för betydelse för kvinnliga konstnärer. Det tyskinfluerade landskapsmåleriet i Sverige vid denna tid brukar i allmänhet förknippas med bland annat Marcus Larsson, Edvard Bergh, Gustav Rydberg, Kilian Zoll och Alfred Wahlberg. Det är ytterst ovanligt att kvinnliga landskapsmålare nämns i svensk litteratur som behandlar Düsseldorf specifikt. Men kvinnor reste till Düsseldorf för att studera, Christine Sundberg, Sofie Ribbing, Jeanette Holmlund, Amalia von Schwerin, Josefina Holmlund och Vilhelmina Lagerholm är några exempel.

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka vilka stadsbyggnadsideal som har format Linköping under historiens gång samt att studera de ideal som präglar planering och utbyggnad av staden idag. Med hjälp av en litteraturgenomgång tas utgångspunkten i 1800-talets Europa och i de trender som däri-från format våra städer. Det empiriska material som ligger till grund för studierna av Linköpings stadsbyggnadsideal idag är i första hand hämtat från Linköpings kommuns egna hemsidor men det har också gjorts en kvalitativ intervju med ordförande i Linköpings stadsbyggnadsnämnd. För att få en bred bild av vilka ideal som förekommer har förutom Linköpings översiktliga planer också tre specifika projekt studerats. De tre projekten är Övre Vasastaden som är ett centrumnära ombygg-nadsprojekt, Djurgården som är en nybyggnation mer perifert och närmare naturen samt Linköpings-Bo2016 som är ett visionsfyllt projekt med slutpunkt i en bomässa 2016.Resultatet av litteraturgenomgången visar på att tre dominerande doktriner har präglat stadsbygg-nationen i Europa från 1800-talet till idag.

The aim of this thesis is to study Viking Eggeling?s artwork Diagonal Symphony together with Eggeling?s own art theoretical writings. This method of reading Eggeling?s art theoretical writings with the aim to try and create a deeper understanding of his art and especially Diagonal Symphony is a new approach in Eggeling?s art historical discourse. The thesis starts with a description of how the field of art history has understood Eggeling and his art primarily through art historical research aimed at Hans Richter.

This thesis aims to explore the use of costumed interpreters at museums. Firstly the thesis examines how extensivethe use of historical costumes is in Sweden, along with some international comparisons. Later on the differentways that the clothes are used is examined, and the costume as a resource for learning is discussed. In the lastpart of the thesis the ?function? of the costume is examined.

Konsten att berätta historier med bilder och illustrationer är något som har funnits i flera tusen år. Detta kandidatarbete undersöker ämnet illustrerad narrativ och redogör olika aspekter och principer som är avgörande för att man ska kunna förmedla ett budskap med hjälp av illustrationer. Idag förknippas illustrerad narrativ framför allt med serietidningar, bilderböcker och grafiska romaner som berättar en narration i form av en serie av bilder. Under den teoretiska delen av arbetet har jag först gått igenom illustrerat narrativs historia och sedan redovisat principer för det moderna illustrerat narrativet. Jag har också forskat kring bildens kommunikativa värde och samspelet mellan bild och text.

In this two years masters thesis in Library and Information Studies, the Russian Library-Bibliographical Classification (LBC/BBK) and the Chinese Library Classification (CLC) are analyzed with regard to their historical and ideological backgrounds and their respective evolutions. The structure of these classifications is compared with the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), as well as three chosen subjects (History, Politics and Religion). A qualitative comparative textual method is used.The study shows that these classification schemes, created at different times, different parts of the world, and different political systems, have different biases but give priority to the European before other foreign views. Otherwise, they often use a proximity principle. The CLC and the LBC were originally based on Marxist materialist principles but built in totally different ways.
