The purpose of the present study is to investigate mindfulness as a New Age phenomenon in the modern western society. Since a religious phenomenon does not exist in a vacuum, but is dependent on its historical and cultural context, my aim is to give a broad depiction of mindfulness and New Age in its wider context, the historical background and the societal implications of common values, themes and concepts that are frequent in the literature, how mindfulness is presented by the authors of popular literature and also how it is presented in science. In order to bring forward a deeper understanding of New Age and mindfulness? role in the modern western society, my intention is to see how the authors of mindfulness claim validity of their doctrines in the discourse. Mindfulness attracts a wide range of perpetrators and is used in many areas in the society today.

The middle ages is a time in our history that is often used as a frame when portraying fantasy on tv. HBOs immensely popular series Game of Thrones could easily be counted as one of these. But to what extent does the creators of the series approach the history of our world while creating their own? The aim of this essay is to analyse a number of characters from the tv- series out of gender- and their place in the social structure and then compare the findings with the image of the middle ages that is given in academic research. By analysing the two released seasons of Game of Thrones the study has shown that there are many similarities between the fictional world and the actual world but that it also differs through choices made by the creators of the series. .

Syftet med denna undersökning är att söka efter likheter och skillnader mellan kursplanen i svenska från år 2000 och kursplanen som ska implementeras i undervisningen från och med hösten 2011. Ett par av mina frågeställningar är på vilket sätt den gamla och den nya kursplanen skiljer sig åt samt på vilket sätt den nya kursplanen skapar ökad tydlighet. Jag har utfört en innehållsanalys av den nya kursplanen i svenska i jämförelse med kursplanen från år 2000, intervjuat fyra lärare på högstadiet samt lämnat ut enkäter till totalt 31 elever.     Enligt innehållsanalysen skiljer sig kursplanerna åt gällande meningslängd, att rubrikerna är annorlunda samt att bedömningsunderlaget är mer detaljerat än innan.Lärarna i min undersökning anser att kursplanerna är ganska lika, att de skiljer sig åt gällande uttryck och formuleringar men att båda är målrelaterade och tydliga. De tyckte dock att kursplanen från år 2000:s betygssystem är missvisande och att 2011:s kunskapskrav inte är specificerade nog för varje årskurs. Huvuddelen av eleverna i min undersökning anser att svenska är viktigt och att grammatik är det viktigaste innehållet i ämnet..

Det här är en teoretisk uppsats inom ämnet retorik med syftet att med hjälp av en modern omtolkning av statusläran söka en vidare förståelse för hur motargumentation bör förstås. Teorin tar sin utgångspunkt i idén om att kombinera statusläran med enthymemet. Uppsatsen diskuterar även hur en ny tolkning av statusläran kan komma till användning i en argumentationsanalys. This essay deals with the weak and unstable urbanization process of the town Falkenberg. The aim has been to explore how a new town could be established just a kilometre away from the town (Old) Falkenberg and what kind of meaning the town had in relationship to the towns Halmstad and Varberg. This was made through the study of the political situation in Denmark and Sweden during the 15th century and through a comparison of the town churches. The archaeological material of Falkenberg is very small and thus I had to trust the available historical literature about the town.Not much of the oldest history of the town is known, but a conflict between the landed aristocratic family Thott and the king Kristian I in Denmark has been interpreted as a reason to the establishing of the town. In conclusion the survey showed that the king probably established New Falkenberg in purpose to limit the trading possibilities of Thott and to, at the same time, increase his own power in the district.

Uppsatsen fokuserar sig dels på fyra svenska frivilliga (s.k. machalniks) som deltog under Israels självständighetskrig 1948-49, dels på hur Machal (organisationen som samordnade dessa frivilligas insatser) ser på organisationens och dess medlemmars insatser under kriget.Uppsatsens teori och arbetsmetod utgår dels från muntlig historia, dels från historiemedvetande och historiebruk..

Uppsatsen syftar till att belysa och diskutera den utveckling som skett inom kyrkokonsten, och då främst altartavlor. Undersökningen grundar sig i två kyrkor i Uppsala stift, Gamla Uppsala kyrka och S:ta Maria kyrka.   Urvalet är begränsat till att beröra konst från 1200-talet fram till modern tid. Metoden som använts är ikonografisk bildanalys av altartavlor och altarskåp i de utvalda kyrkorna likväl som forskning i kyrkokonstens utveckling i modern och gammal litteratur. Genom undersökning av skriftverket Biblia Pauperum dras slutsatser gällande den äldre kyrkokonstens inspirationer.   Undersökningen påvisar att en utveckling har skett inom kyrkokonsten. Konstnärerna har fått en större frihet i val av innehåll och form på konsten som beställs.

This essay discusses the Nordic region Bohuslän the decade after it became "Swedish" in 1658, during what I call the region's "transition period". The wide cause of the study is to show how the traditional understanding of this state shift (and of state shifts in general) need to be problemized and understood in the light of the state conditions of Early Modern Europe. By examine court protocols from the local-court of Orust and Tjörn (one of five local courts in contemporary Bohuslän) and the local noble's writings to the Swedish parliament, a tricky mixture of references to different territories gets observed and analyzed.To approach the difficult identity problems, I have assistance in Peter Sahlins' conclusions from his study of the French-Spanish borderland during the same period. Especially helpful are his identity schemes by which he (inspired by the Norwegian anthropologist Fredrik Barth) supposes that each identity originates from a counter-identity. This study ends up in an attempt to reconstruct the landscape of identities and counter-identities found in the sources, according to professor Sahlins' schemes.

The aim of this paper is to examine the American movie trailer particularly its history, marketing and functions, presented as an historical overview from the serials of the early 1910s to the trailers of today. A trailer from each decade of the twentieth- and twenty-first centuries is selected which represent typical trends and shows how trailers historically functioned, including their formal, generic differences.The introduction focuses on the market in which the trailer operates, and raises the issue of the entertainment value of art or marketing, how the film industry works and to role of advertising. The second part of the introduction focuses on the development of film stars, and their importance in trailer campaigns. This brings in the question of the growth of Hollywood and new media forms/technologies. The manner in which new media also create a new type of audience is considered, which demonstrates how the trailers capture audience attention in new ways.The second part of the paper focuses on the history of the trailer and examines typical structures, of the different periods.The third part analyses how different trailers operate, and how the trailer industry stands at the beginning of a new era, the so-called Post-interactive era, which is discussed with regard to Spider-Man 2 and The Da Vinci Code..

This present study is a result of a research that I made . My purpose is to find out how the debate about inclusion looked like back in the history. My research was about the view we had absolut inclusion in the history, I also made some interviewes among teachers and students in the schools of today. I wanted to se their views about inclusion today and I wanted to know their opinions about inclusion. Did the students and the teachers have prejudice against other students with functional disabilities as Down syndrom and blindness? What was their thoughts about inclusion of students with differents functional disabilities?One more task I had with this study I made was to raise another debate about inclusion .! Keywords: Inclusion and funtional disabilities.

En inblick i Gauss barndom och ungdom samt hans liv och skolning,och vidare hans universitetstid beskrivs där fokus läggs på en 17-sidors regelbunden månghörning Gauss konstruerade utifrån Euklides teorier i Elementa. Gauss doktorsavhandling om Algebrans fundamentalsats från 1799 och dess bevis gås igenom.

Through this thesis I aimed to further investigate how we can adapt our western and modern views of masculinity and femininity in an ancient population, here on the Pitted Ware population from Ajvide on Gotland. A questionnaire survey was used to compile the modern view of masculinity and femininity. This modern view was then compared with patterns which had become visible through statistical processing of the burial gifts found on Ajvide. The thesis is mainly focused around the concept of gender, but age and status have also been discussed. Through several performed correspondence analysis, it became clear that the current view of male and female differed from the one that became visible in the archaeological record.
