The purpose of this study was to investigate a Swedish assessment centre and more specifically the predictive validity of its assessments of ten managers from a Swedish technological company. The study was made by interviews with these managers' executives in order to find out how well their opinion about their employees matched the assessments made by the assessment centre consultants. The results showed that the congruence of the managers' strengths was 74% whereas that of their weaknesses was 59%..

Uppsatsen har undersökt hur ett antal textbaserade utbildningsmaterial avsedda för utbildning inom företagsvärlden utformas i förhållande till olika sätt att förstå och tolka innehåll. De teorier som används som utgångspunkt i undersökningen har varit Howard Gardners inlärningsteori om multipla intelligenser, samt Stuart Halls kommunikationsteori Encoding/decoding. Undersökningen har omfattat tre utbildningsmaterial som används vid Södra Cell Mönsterås som tillverkar pappersmassa, där jag undersökt en teoribok avsedd för utbildning av truckförare, en internhandbok i grundläggande datakunskap samt ett textmaterial avsett för att öka personalens kunskap om hur produktionen av pappersmassa går till. Undersökningen har gjorts i form av fallstudier där varje utbildningsmaterial har blivit ett separat fall. Analysen av materialen har genomförts i form av en riktad innehållsanalys baserad på Gardners multipla intelligenser, i syfte att finna svar på vilka intelligenser som var representerade i utbildningsmaterialet. Utifrån det resultat som analysen gav förde jag ett hermeneutiskt teorietiskt resonemang med utgångspunkt i Halls teori Encodin/decoding i hur brukarna av materialet skulle kunna tolka innehållet, beroende på faktorer som förkunskaper i ämnet och kulturell/social bakgrund. Resultatet av analysen visa att endast ett fåtal intelligenser blev representerade i de olika materialen.

In the middle of Australia there is a city called Alice Springs. The city has one of the highest amounts of daily sunshine hours and sun irradiation in the world. The Australian Government runs a project called Solar Cities, and Alice Springs is one of the participators. The main part of the goal with the Solar Cities project is to increase the amount of electricity generated by solar power and by doing that lower the impact on the environment. This thesis examines the possibilities for construction of a large scale solar power plant in Alice Springs. This is done to determine the potential of creating a more sustainable energy system in the city.

Målet med examensarbetet är att utveckla ett grafiskt gränssnitt som markant underlättar användandet av mobiltelefoner för synsvaga personer. Examensarbetet gjordes i samarbete med företaget The Astonishing Tribe (TAT) i Malmö. TAT designar och utvecklar grafiska gränssnitt för mobiltelefoner. I dagsläget finns det ett flertal olika hjälpmedel till mobiltelefoner för synsvaga personer. Det finns även specialutvecklade mobiltelefoner som främst vänder sig till äldre men som även kan tänkas hjälpa synsvaga personer.

The first part of the thesis consists of a brief introduction to the general principles of target detection and the sensor-systems used. In the following part there is a theoretical description of the algorithms this thesis focuses on. The detection algorithms described in this paper are called Cell Average, Ordered Statistics, 2parameter and Gammadetector. Two different discriminators called Extended Fractal Features and Quadratic Gamma Discriminator are also described. The algorithms are tested on three different types of data, simulated SAR-pictures, authentic SAR-targets and IR-pictures.

Through the growing use and availability of information technology the dependency of Internet is today increasing. Internet makes ways for a more mobile business communication that cost less. One of the latest applications of Internet technology are intranet and extranet. I have asked myself the question how intranet and extranet can affect companies efficiency and competitive advantage. In order to answer this question I performed a case study at Ericsson and ABB.

At the beginning of 2011, Sweden started using the European rules for structural design, the Eurocodes, instead of the previous national rules. In both the previous rules and the Eurocodes, it is possible to dimension concrete columns using tabled values. However, the required cross section measurements have increased considerably. Tall (Pinus sylvestris L.) är ett av Sveriges viktigaste trädslag. Med ökad efterfrågan på vedråvara samt ökade krav på naturavsättningar är det viktigt att öka produktionen i skogen. Röjning och tidig gödsling ger ökad volymproduktion men kan ge icke önskvärd påverkan på vedegenskaper som ökad mikrofibrillvinkel (MFV). MFV är vinkeln mellan mikrofibrillerna i cellväggens S2-lager och cellens längdaxel och påverkas av ståndort samt konkurrensen om ljus och näringsämnen. Höga MFV resulterar i sämre kvalitet på papper och sågade trävaror.

Tekniken kring mobiltelefoni är under ständig utveckling och mobiltelefonen har idag fått nya funktioner utöver dess grundfunktion röstsamtal. Efterfrågan efter nya mobila tjänster drivs hela tiden framåt då mobilen får allt större kapacitet och prestanda. Bland de tjänster som växts fram märks möjligheten att utföra monetära transaktioner. Detta innebär helt enkelt att använda sin mobiltelefon för att betala och utföra allehanda tjänster kopplade till användarens monetära tillgångar. Överföringen av pengar kräver dock hög säkerhet.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) refers to adjusting corporate goals so that they are not only based on maximizing corporate profits, but include ethical standards on socially desirable behavior (Boatright, 2008). Even though many companies have integrated CSR into their business operations, there are still many issues that are difficult to tackle. Especially Multinational Corporations (MNCs) in the global business environment face many challenging situations due to the fact that they often have linkages to countries where the local government is either unwilling or unable to take care of its responsibilities. MNCs often find themselves with increased responsibilities when they start solving some of the issues that earlier have been the sole responsibility of states. A specific case situation discussed in this paper is related to ?conflict minerals?.

Bakgrund: Studier har visat att STI och aborter ökat samt att unga män i lägre grad testar sig för STI jämfört med unga kvinnor. Unga män har även en tendens att besöka ungdomsmottagningen i lägre utsträckning än jämnåriga kvinnor. Ungdomar idag upplever att sexualundervisningen i sko-lorna är otillfredsställande samt att största källan till information kring sex och samlevnad är vänner eller internet. Detta gör att ungdomsmottagningen är än mer betydelsefull idag och bör därför också vara tillgänglig och anpassad till alla. Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva hur unga män upplever sin ungdomsmottagning och hur de anser att den eventuellt kan förbättras.

This degree project has been carried out in cooperation with Enertech AB in Ljungby and is pilot study to automating all current manual soldering. The soldering process accounts for a large part of the processing cost in the production of a heat pump. The process is also a quality risk and has a major impact on the lifetime of the final product.The Main task of this project has been to evaluate automation of the soldering process, to develop automation solutions and a principle layout, to draw the design changes required for the automation and to calculate the supposed solution.This pilot study has resulted in a suggested automation solution using laser as a heat source for soldering. Calculations of the solution show that a automating a laser soldering cell is very profitable..

Portable IT devices such as laptops, smart phones and computer tablets are becoming ever more ubiquitous. At the same time, the population of the Western world is growing older, with aging bringing about changes with regards to individuals' physical and mental capabilities. These facts raises important questions about how well suited these devices are for use by elderly people. This study focuses on the cognitive aspects of the devices' usability, using the concept of mental models to analyze the users' understanding of a computer tablet. It also draws upon theory of graphical user interfaces in its analyses.

I dagens byggprocess läggs enormt mycket tid och resurser på hantering av pappersritningar och andra utskrivna dokument som är nödvändiga för att produktion och förvaltning ska fungera. Vid stora projekt kan det handla om tusentals olika ritningar och dokument som ska hanteras och dokumenteras vilket kan vara oerhört omständligt, inte minst när revideringar måste utföras.När ett BIM-projekt utförs idag så tappas en hel del av den information som modellen innehåller till följd av att det ska skrivas ut på en pappersritning, vilket i sin tur gör att mycket av informationen inte kommer till sin rätt. I dagsläget finns ett flertal programvaror med syftet att hantera BIM-modeller och andra dokument rent digitalt i datorn eller i surfplattan. Här har man kommit en bra bit på vägen mot ett ritningsfritt projekt men det finns mycket kvar att arbeta vidare med.Sweco Architects och NCC påbörjade under 2012 ett projekt vid namn ?Det ritningsfria projektet? som till en början delvis gått ut på att kartlägga vilka problem som kan uppkomma vid övergången till ett ritningsfritt projekt.
