This thesis is made on behalf of SCA's Forestry Division and is a comparison of two bucking simulation tools: Aptan (manufactured by Skogforsk) and Best/upr (from Berget Systemdesign). The data is based on 32 stands from SCA's forests in Norrbotten and VĂ€sterbotten. The objective is to compare the simulations created by the tools with the harvested volumes from those stands. Three variables are needed for the bucking simulation; these are the diameter distribution (at breast height), the relationship function between diameter and height, and the taper coefficients. The volumes of five different assortments from the stands are compared.

Softube has developed DSP-card and software for simulation of the sound of old tube amplifiers. The purpose with this thesis is to design a compact amplifier with high power to function together with the DSP-card and build a unit that can replace several other guitar amplifiers. The advantages with that kind of solution could be that it would be cheaper, easier to carry and easier to stor than the real amplifiers. The amplifier that has been designed is of class D type with digital PWM modulator. There is several types of amplifier modules on the market that use analog input signal, but if one of them would be used a D-A converter is needed on the DSP card.

Denna studie unders?ker den upplevda tryggheten hos kvinnor vid Fr?lunda Torgs sp?rvagnsh?llplats i G?teborg och identifierar en rad olika faktorer i den fysiska milj?n som p?verkar deras upplevelse. Med en feministiskt geografisk infallsvinkel och teoretiska ramar som inkluderar Broken Window-teorin, CPTED syftar studien till att bidra till en ?kad f?rst?else f?r hur Fr?lunda Torgs sp?rvagnsh?llplats uppfattas och kan utformas fr?n kvinnornas perspektiv. Genom semistrukturerade intervjuer, analyserar studien kvinnors upplevelser av trygghet och otrygghet vid sp?rvagnsh?llplatsen Fr?lunda Torg.

Syftet med examensarbetet var att med en miljösystemanalytisk metod jÀmföra och bedömamiljöbelastningen frÄn vÀgkonstruktioner som bestÄr av olika lÀttfyllnadsmaterial. Materialensom analyseras Àr Leca, ŸHASOPOR och gummiklipp. Leca Àr brÀnd expanderad lera ochgummiklipp Àr uttjÀnta bildÀck som klippts sönder. ŸHASOPOR, kallas ocksÄ för skummatglas, bestÄr av glasavfall som malts till ett fint pulver och sedan upphettats tillsammans medett jÀsmedel som fÄr materialet att expandera.I studien bedöms tvÄ olika frÄgestÀllningar. Den första syftar till att fÄ svar pÄ vilket materialsom Àr bÀst att anvÀnda ur miljösynpunkt, utan att ta hÀnsyn till alternativ anvÀndning av glasochgummiavfall.

This report has been performed for WSP Construction Design located at ArenavÀgen 7 in Stockholm. WSP Construction Design is one of the leading departments in Sweden in construction solutions regarding everything from building construction to industrial building. Great competencies regarding steel, wood and concrete constructions are available within the department which is well sought.Crane girders used in the industry are exposed to large loads that vary over time that includes instantaneous lifts and the crane girders movement which lead to the phenomenon fatigue in the crane girder and its ingoing welds. A control of fatigue needs to be performed after a certain lifespan measured in time which in turn is converted to a number of loadcycles. When the number of loadcycles amounts to a greater number the input welds resistance will have been reduced and the rate of utilization thereby increased.

Ramsta Robotics Àr ett företag som ligger i Uppsala. Företaget grundades 1999 av tre uppfinnare. Man har utvecklat en robot, som anvÀnds för att göra rent i djurstallar. TvÀttarbetet har hittills gjorts helt manuellt med högtryckstvÀtt. I framför allt svinhus Àrarbetsmiljön direkt hÀlsovÄdlig ? bland annat pÄ grund av alla de kvÀveföreningar som löses ut nÀr vattnet blöter upp anlÀggningen.

Climate change is a phenomenon that know no boundaries. While focus on environment and climate change has become highly prioritized, nationalism has spread across Europe. Nationalism is by many considered to refuse action to combat climate change although some argue that nationalism could combat global climate change. Previous research on how nationalism is implemented in environment and climate politics has mainly focused on single parties. The thesis therefore aims to give a broad approach and compare how nationalism is used in environment and climate politics by analyzing 4 European parties with either ethnic or civic nationalism and different roles in their party system. With a qualitative content analysis on party programs and election manifestos the findings imply that parties use nationalism in the climate and environment discourse in a variety of ways.

The aim of this thesis is to find a statistical model that sort logs according to a predicted modulus of elasticity on the sawn boards. The input parameters for the model are X-ray variables from an X-ray scanner. For some of the log classes sawn at the sawmill it is desirable to have a narrow distribution of modulus of elasticity on the sawn boards. 250 pine logs from five different diameter classes were numbered and followed through the sawmill process. Log data were collected from X-ray and 3-D scanners in the log intake.

To be allowed to sell Z-suspended vehicles with dipped beam Xenon or LED lighting, Scania have to develop automatic headlight level control. This master?s thesis aims to be the foundation to that development.The thesis consists of several parts; a market analysis of how competitors to Scania and the general vehicle industry solve this problem; several available principles for detecting the amount of control needed; the construction of a test station for sensors, a control unit and components connected controlled by the control unit; a further theoretical and practical development of one principle ? one rotational sensor connected between the chassis and the back drive axis; a state flow model programmed in Simulink that produces the control signal for the headlight leveling from the sensor input.Lastly the thesis gives some recommendations to the further development and implementation of automatic headlight level control on Scania vehicles..

Hunger is a problem in some parts of the world (www, FAO 1, 2012). The lack of food is often a result of insufficient knowledge in soil fertility management (Röing de Nowina, 2012). Ongoing hunger and malnourishment are quite prevalent in Sub-Saharan Africa and are often combined with poverty (www, FAO 1, 2012). Farming is the most common occupation in this area and the farms are often small-scale farms with subsistence crops and a few cattle. The farmers who operate these small-scale farms are economically a weak group.

The aim of this thesis is to investigate the electric solar potential on the Swedish island Gotland. The Gotlandic habitations have been divided into four house categories. For each category energy demand, roof area, geographic orientation androof tilt have been decided. Solar radiation data have been collected from the Swedish solar radiation model STRÅNG (STRÅNG, 2012).The buildings characteristics and the solar radiation have been used as input values in common solar formulas, the solar potential for each building category have been summed up to a total electric solar potential for the region.The electric solar potential on Gotland was calculated to 242 GWh/year with solar data from 2010. Gotlands largest city, Visby, is marked as cultural heritage by UNESCO (UNESCO, 2012).

Invasive alien plant species have historically caused major damage to ecosystems and are considered to be amongst the greatest threats to biodiversity globally. The lurking threat of harm to well functioning ecosystems has led to the development of global and regional goals and regulations which seek to stop the spread of invasive species. The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency has proposed a list of species that are specifically harmful to the Swedish flora and fauna, which includes (amongst others) garden lupin. The management of invasive species is however largely dependent on local actions, making municipal public servants key players. This qualitative study uses interviews to investigate how municipal public servants who are responsible for managing invasive alien species view this work.
