During an endurance riding competition the onset of metabolic disorders leading up to elimination from the race are common. As many as 8,7 % of the horses participating in international endurance riding competitions are eliminated due to metabolic causes such as tachycardia, absence of borborygmi, hyperthermia and dehydration. To prevent the onset of metabolic disorders in the horse the rider must be able to determine the physiological and physical status of his or her horse. This requires good knowledge in nutrition, physiology and performance training. The risk of developing metabolic problems is reduced through the right feeding management and training.

The Swedish Transport Administration has, and manages, a database containing information of the status of road condition on all paved and governmental operated Swedish roads. The purpose of the database is to support the Pavement Management System (PMS). The PMS is used to identify sections of roads where there is a need for treatment, how to allocate resources and to get a general picture of the state of the road network condition. All major treatments should be reported which has not always been done.The road condition is measured using a number of indicators on e.g. the roads unevenness.

In Trollhättan municipality approximately 700 school bus stops are in service. To ensure high quality of the performance of school bus operations, with focus on traffic safety, it was decided to conduct a survey of bus stops including assessments of risks.This master thesis aims to identify the factors affecting road safety at bus stops and pedestrian connections, and to conduct an inventory and analysis of selected sites in Trollhättan municipality. The work also aims to show examples of how risk assessment should be performed in future studies. A risk analysis model provided by the Swedish Transport Administration is supplemented and used in a field study. The risk assessment is based on, inter alia, traffic flow, visibility distance, lighting, speed of traffic and the presence of bus shelter.

Skandia är ett gammalt gediget företag som varit ledande inom sitt område under många år. Under år 2002 drabbades företaget av en skandal som gjorde att det raserades. Efter denna rasering har de lyckats återfå sitt anseende och förtroende genom ett omfattande arbete. Detta var möjligt tack vare att deras grund hölls intakt, det vill säga relationen mellan rådgivarna och kunderna. Syftet med uppsatsen är att utvärdera hur Skandia arbetar med att återfå sitt anseende samt resultatet av detta arbete. Vi har studerat deras tillvägagångssätt för att återskapa värdet samt genomfört en undersökning bland allmänheten för att se hur denna har uppfattat Skandias arbete.

The Natura 2000 Network is one of the European Unions many tools concerning nature conservation, and is without comparison the premier contribution when it comes to halting the loss of biodiversity. This essay is a case study on how the regional work with the Natura 2000-network has been carried out in four different counties. These counties are Södermanland, Västernorrland, Jämtland and Örebro. They have been compared based on the theoretical concept of sustainable development. This essay describes how the officials in the County Administrations view the regional implementation of Natura 2000 when it comes to the selection of Natura 2000-sites with forest habitats and the creation of an additional protective measure.

Problem Då uppfattningarna går isär om vilken ledarstilar som finns och vilken roll de spelar i en organisation så tittar vi på hur ledarstilarna har uppkommit och förändrats, med en fokus på coachning. Fanns coachning tidigare än vad teorierna säger? Vilken betydelse spelar coachningen och hur har den utvecklats över tiden? Syfte Syftet med uppsatsen är att titta på förändringarna som ledarstilarna har genomgått över tiden, där vi fokuserar på coachningen. Vilka slutsatser kan man dra beroende på om stilarna har funnits tidigare än de uppdagats i teorin? Kan vi se mönster genom att titta längre tillbaka i tiden och vilken roll spelade coachningen? Genom att titta bakåt i tiden kan vi också se hur samhället har uppfattat ledarstilarna. Metod Uppsatsen bygger på studier av tre filmer som representerar olika tidsperioder.

The aim of this thesis is to investigate the points of view of three groups of actors about their local learning center and its collaboration with the library. By interviewing groups of actors from the municipal sector, the library staff and students, I aim to investigate their associations of the learning centre, what kind of services it should offer, and how they understand the role of the library staff in specific collaboration between the public library and the adult education administration. The study design is based on Gunnar Grepperud?s and Terje Thomsen?s three missions for a local learning centre; the mission of a broker, a meeting place and a motivator. I also use Carol Kuhlthau?s levels of mediation as an approach to investigate how the actors want the library staff to work in relation to the centre.

We wish to explore what are the meanings and implications of diversity for the employees of each company, how their discourses on diversity reflect hypocrisy in the organizations and if and how national context has an impact on discourse on diversity.Methodology: Interviews were conducted, transcribed and codified. Comparison and evaluation of the different discourses were examined around diversity and in the talk of interviewees within the two companies.

Internet har i över 20 år påverkat samhällets förutsättningar, så även skolans arbetssätt och undervisningssituation. Förändringarna i samhällssektorn avspeglar sig inte minst i samhällskunskapsämnet både gällande innehåll, administration och kommunikation. Satsningarna på internet som praktiskt redskap har varit stora men information om dess teoretiska aspekter har lyst med sin frånvaro. Därav arbetets relevans där syftet har varit att undersöka på vilket sätt gymnasielärare i samhällskunskap beskriver internets påverkan på samhället och hur de undervisar om detta. Fyra kvalitativa intervjuer har gjorts, vilka samtliga har varit semistrukturerade för att kunna besvara arbetets syfte.Arbetets resultat har varit att det funnits stora privata skillnader i användande hos de intervjuade lärarna.

Långtidssjukskrivningar har ökat drastiskt på senare år och är ett stort problem i dagens samhälle. Det har genom åren varit ständiga debatter och ett flertal studier har gjorts av bl.a. Statens offentliga utredare, Arbetslivsinstitutet och Försäkringskassan. Studierna fokuserar ofta på vad långtidssjukskrivningar beror på och dess konsekvenser för samhället. Det är framförallt den offentliga sektorn som drabbats hårdast, där vård och omsorg står för de högsta sjukskrivningstalen.

En lärares kärnuppdrag kan ses handla om att få alla elever att uppnå de nationella målen. En läraresarbetstid kan konstateras vara en viktig resurs i detta arbete och hur den används kan ses skapaförutsättningar för kvalité och likvärdighet i skolan. Det har enbart gjorts ett fåtal studier angående läraresarbetstidsanvändning och ingen större undersökning har genomförts gällande gymnasielärarestidsanvändning. Detta gjorde det adekvat att i uppsatsen studera svenska gymnasieläraresarbetstidsanvändning.De flesta människor anser att lärarnas främsta arbetsuppgift handlar om att undervisa. Emellertid har detkonstaterats att det genom olika politiska reformer har skett en förskjutning av lärarnas arbetsuppgifterfrån undervisningsrelaterade arbetsuppgifter till mer administrativa och dokumenterande arbetsuppgifter.Det kan bland annat anses har påverkat undervisningskvalitén och lärarnas arbetsvillkor negativt, vilketföranledde att det även var adekvat att i uppsatsen studera gymnasielärares tidsanvändning i relation tillundervisningskvalité och arbetsvillkor.

In order to evaluate the benefits and costs associated to investments in information technology (IT) managers need to be aware of the complexity in the nature of the task. Hence all the benefits that arise from the investment are not of pure economic character. The complexity of the task is even more obvious when managers also need to prioritize between a number of possible investments in order to fit a given budget.Stora Enso Skog AB is about to implement a new administration system to the organisation and due to that they will also implement a new standard system for the production planning process. In order to seek the modifications in the standard system that needs to be done to fit the organisations way of working, the managers have put together a reference group to seek out these modifications.The aim with this report is to identify a model that can prioritize these suggested modifications and test it practically with a group of future system users. The first part of the report is a literature study to map the existing models that are available.

The purpose also includes an investigation about if an investor will receives a higher return on high-risk fund than on mutual-index fund in a 10 years period.Method: A quantitative method has been use in this study, where the information has been received from Morningstar. Microsoft Excel has been used to process the collected data in order to calculate the expected return and the risk measures. The result is presented in graphs and tables on the empirical capital, in order to analyse and compare it with the theories and the selected macro- variables to see if there will be any correlation. Conclusion: This research shows that there is no possibility that the macro-variable factors can benefit an investment on high-risk fund or on mutual-index fund in the short run.
