Threats and violence, or the risk of being subjected to threats and violence in the workplace, is a major health and safety problems that exists in many professions. To be exposed to threats and violence can have serious consequences for the employee's health but also for the organization in question. The aims of this study was to investigate the prevalence of threats and violence at the Swedish Migration Board detention, and to examine whether there were health problems among employees who may be exposed to threats and violence. A web-based questionnaire was answered by 29 employees (response rate = 51 percent). The results showed that more employees had been exposed to verbal threats (66 percent), compared to physical violence (10 percent), and they showed a greater tendency to report physical violence, as opposed to verbal threats.

Denna studie handlar om den fartförlust och därmed den ökade energiförbrukningen som drabbar fartyg på grunt vatten. Syftet var att ta reda på hur mycket kortare en grund passage behöver vara för att den ska vara ett bättre alternativ än en lång och djup rutt med hänsyn till bränsleförbrukning och tidsåtgång. Resultatet av detta blev att det inte går att dra några generella slutsatser som gäller för alla fartygstyper men att det går att se tydliga tendenser. Studien hade även som målsättning att skapa ett underlag som skulle kunna användas av nautiker vid planering av resor, detta presenterades i form av en sammanställning av de resultat som erhållits vid beräkning av fartförlust i öppet vatten. Någon sammanställning gjordes inte för begränsat vatten eftersom exempelfartygen där fick likadana resultat vilket skulle ha gjort en sådan överflödig.

One of the biggest changes which have affected businesses during the last ten years is the accelerating speed at which Internet technology and e-commerce has developed. If Internet earlier was used in the purpose to entertain it is now accepted as an essential business tool and companies are investing more of its resources in e-commerce activities. Everyone ?has to be on the net? today but that implies a challenge in matching e-solutions to the company?s business goals. It is necessary to have clear goals, carry out research and plan a strategy in order to operate an optimal e-commerce website for the company?s needs.The purpose with this dissertation was to see how well companies adjust to new demands in the rapidly changing e-environment.

Migration ökar i hela världen och det svenska samhället omformas från ett samhälle med ett fåtal etniska inslag till ett samhälle med över hundra nationaliteter, språk och många religioner. Varje kultur har sin syn på hälsa och sjukdom. Vårdpersonal tycker att det är svårt att bedöma, förstå och vårda personer från andra kulturer. Syftet med arbetet är att belysa kulturella skillnader och problem som kan uppstå vid omvårdnad av person med annan kulturell bakgrund. En litteraturstudie gjordes och den är baserad på åtta vetenskapliga artiklar och materialet bearbetades genom en innehållsanalys.

During the 1960s and 1970s an increased interest in Native Americans can be seen in Sweden, e.g. through the establishment of organizations such as the Indian Club of Sweden. The aim of this thesis is to study the portrayal of Native Americans and its role through Albin Widén, a Swedish author, ethnologist and member of the Indian Club, and his non-fictional works on the Swedish migration to America, Swedish-America and Swedish contacts with Native Americans. The study is divided into four parts. The first part looks at the portrayal of the Native Americans in Widén?s writings, in comparison with Euro-Americans? and Europeans? traditional stereotypic images of a good and a bad Indian.

Inom respektive affärsmodell, vilka är de nyckelelement som skapar konkurrensfördelar? Vilken av dessa affärsmodeller skall Syntronic välja, och vilka strategiska förändringar kräver det? Syfte:Syftet med uppsatsen är att formulera en ny strategi för Syntronic, och att skapa insikt i produktutvecklingskonsulternas utvecklingsvillkor och möjligheter till konkurrensfördelar. Metod:För att bygga upp den nödvändiga förståelsen har vi genomfört en omfattande studie av Syntronic, deras kunder och konkurrenter. Ett ramverk med teorier om extern försörjning, Value Migration och strategi har hjälpt oss att utveckla affärsmodellerna och våra strategiska rekommendationer.

Sverige är ett exceptionellt fall av sekularisering på både samhälls- och individnivå. Samtidigt har immigrationen delvis förändrat det demografiska landskapet för religiositet då utrikesfödda i regel är mer religiösa än inrikesfödda samt oftare tillhör en annan religion. Syftet med denna uppsats är att beskriva utrikesföddas religiositet i Sverige med särskild fokus på vistelsetidens och religionstillhörighetens betydelse. Inom religionssociologin antar den så kallade moderniseringsteorin att ju mer sekulariserat ett samhälle är, desto mer sekulariserade är dess medlemmar. Variationen i religiositet inom samhället beror på socialisering och upplevelser av otrygghet.

We have 3G on the doorstep but nothing seems to attract ordinary people to this technology. To attract the mass market the telecom industry must show something beyond high bit rates. They must show how ordinary people can take advantage of this new technology. This is done by showing the possibilities of the new technology and by demonstrating applications that it will handle. The telecom industry must convince the telecom operators to invest in this technology and the only thing that matters to them is how much revenue they can make by adopting the upcoming technology.

Denna rapport omfattar ett 15 poängs (22,5 högskolepoäng) examensarbete vid Karlstads universitet. Arbetet har utförts på plats hos BAE Systems Bofors i Karlskoga. Företaget ville kunna styra en radiostyrd leksaksstridsvagn med en laserpekare. En kamera ansluten till en digital signalprocessor (DSP) skulle kunna detektera var en laserpunkt befinner sig och styra stridsvagnen mot den.Ett styrgränssnitt mellan DSP:n och leksaksstridsvagnen konstruerades och byggdes med hjälp av en programmerbar logisk krets. Leksaksstridsvagnens interna signalsystem analyserades.

This essay describes the Swedish furniture business and its strong competition between domestic and foreign producers. As the demand on higher development speed grows stronger, alongside a fierce competition between the companies, long lasting and unique qualities such as customer relations and strong brand names become crucial. Nowadays many furniture producers chose to sell their products through retailers and they therefore miss out on invaluable direct contact with their customers. Consequently, this means that they lack the perquisite to build relations or more importantly, to communicate their brand.To illustrate the problem a case study and a survey have been carried out. The study compares the strategic marketing works between producers who have own concept stores and those who uses retailers.

This master thesis was carried out at Scania in Södertälje, Sweden. It investigates the possibility of changing a connector interface that is used when there is a need for splicing the wheel speed sensor and thereby determine the consequences.The problems that exist with the current connector interface occur during assembly, as more time is required to complete a connection in a reliable manner. A complete connection requires joining the male and female connector, insert the connection into a protective retainer and then strap a cable tie on each end of the retainer. This process makes it more time consuming and it requires 20-30 seconds to complete the connection. Solving this problem would save time and enable easier assembly, therefore resulting in economical benefits.This thesis was accomplished through discussions with different sections at Scania, studying available documentations, observations during assembly, writing a requirement specification and contacting suppliers.The aforementioned methods resulted in four connector suggestions, the DT and DTMH connector from Deutsch, MCON connector from TE connectivity and MLK connector from Kostal, each of them compliant with the set demands of the surrounding environment.

Syftet med detta arbete är att granska relationen mellan teori och praktik avseende Malmö högskolas perspektiv i huvudämnet Svenska i ett mångkulturellt samhälle. I vårt arbete har vi valt att arbeta med kvalitativ metod i form av intervjuer, observationer och text/diskursanalys. Vi har intervjuat fem personer anställda vid Malmö högskola, observerat sju lektionstillfällen och analyserat de dokument i vilka perspektiven är formulerade. Vårt resultat visar att perspektiven i perspektivdokumenten presenteras mycket kortfattat och utan att de följer en gemensam mall. Texten i dokumenten är i stort formulerade så att påståenden om samhället, kunskap och individer framställs som självklara och odiskutabla sanningar.

The aim of this M.A.-thesis in social work is to problematize the assimilatoric concept of integration and its discourses in a postcolonial perspective in relation to social work in Denmark.As a support theory I use symbolic interactionism. By using these theories I show how the concept of integration and its discourses, when its aim is assimilatoric, can be understood and problematized with concepts as binary oppositions and hegemony.It is shown that the construction of the discoursive other is a useful term as an instrument of interpretation of power in general. The relevance to social work in relation to the social workers double powered positions, professional and cultural power to define 'the other', in social work with ethnic minorities is shown in relation to the post colonial perspective with support of symbolic interactionism. The white western world hegemony and the social workers power positions in relation to the clients fits to the theoretic frame chosen in the thesis.A second aim in this thesis is to point to new ways for social work and to the necessity to reflect over a globalized world characterized by international migration, ethnic relations and diversity..

In 1993 the internal market within the European Union was formed and ensured free movement of goods, services, capital and people. This led to the removal of trade barriers between members of the European Union. When opening up for competition, price differences between countries decreased and more jobs were created. A single currency was introduced by eleven countries in 1999 with the goal of reducing transaction costs, eliminating exchange rate risk and to further simplify trade. In 2001 Greece joined the collaboration and introduced the euro.

Tidigare forskning har visat att det finns kulturskillnader i det självbiografiska minnets uppbyggnad och att byte av socio-kulturell kontext kan påverka det självbiografiska minnet. Självbiografisk minnesspecificitet har dock inte tidigare studerats i ett kulturellt perspektiv. I denna studie jämfördes självbiografisk minnesspecificitet hos 19 iranier som migrerat till Sverige och 19 iranier i Iran. En variant av Autobiographical Memory Test användes, där hälften av ledorden var relaterade till iransk kultur och hälften var mer allmänna. Hälften av orden i vardera kategorin var positiva och hälften negativa.
