Foreign aid is a very debated and controversial topic. The most recent studies have focused more on GDP growth and foreign aid correlation, however not much of the debate has focused on what kind of foreign aid should be given. The most common foreign aid is budget support, often a bilateral funds transfer between two countries. This kind of foreign aid can be both conditional and unconditional from the donors? perspective.

The world is currently facing a huge severe challenge in handling the issue of climate change. One of the ways to lower the green house gas emissions, which is seen as one of the main contributor to the climate crisis, is to use renewable technologies such as for example photovoltaic (PV) systems. PV-systems are also suitable for so called micro production, small scale energy production facilities, since it can be placed on practically any rooftop with the right solar conditions. In Sweden the usage of PV-systems has not yet gotten any wider spreading, even though the solar radiation conditions are very similar to countries that produce a lot of solar energy, as for example Germany. The aim of this paper is to describe non-adopter perceptions of PV-systems. The study holds a qualitative approach using deep interviews for data collection.

Reliable methods to analyze food for the presence of almond are important ? not only for those allergic to almond, but also for monitoring the compliance with labelling regulations (EG directive 2003/89). Until now the Swedish National Food Administration has used methods like rocket immunoelectrophoresis and real-time PCR to detect almond in food. These methods are, however, not sensitive enough for protecting the most sensitive individuals. Therefore, the performance of a commercial ELISA kit was tested with regard to specificity/cross reactivity and limit of detection for almond both in solution and in different matrixes.The limit of quantitation was at least 3,1 ppm (mg/kg) in solution and similar concentrations were measured in bisquits and chocolate.

Globalization is described as processes of economic, social and political character and a tendency in the field has been to study these aspects of the phenomenon separately. Another common feature of previous studies is to relate to the field at a high abstraction level and talk about the effects and changes in general terms. Such studies of quantitative and statistical nature in which people are constituted as homogeneous groups hides the fact that the relationship between social attributes and context creates unique positions where the effects of globalization are diverse (Sprague, 2005, pp. 16 - 18). The purpose of this bachelor thesis is therefore to break with this entrance to the field and instead focus on a micro level perspective.By conducting a qualitative interview study guided by the globalization theory of the Globalife research team, which shows how structures at the macro level can be understood to affect the micro level, the aim is to reveal potential knowledge gaps within the field.

This thesis aims to develop a control system for measuring electromagnetic compability (EMC). This has meant that a controller designed around an ATmega8 microcontroller has been manufactured and programmed. It has also meant the development of a comprehensive control software in the program MATLAB. Det finns många sätt att studera organisatoriska förändringar på och många författare förespråkar olika typer av checklistor som chefer bör följa för att förändringen ska bli framgångsrik. Denna studie beskriver och analyserar anställdas tankar och handlingar i organisatorisk förändring utifrån individuella erfarenheter, positioner och strukturella karaktäristiska. För att uppfylla syftet studeras två nivåer i ett företag, den reella och den formella nivån. I studien står den formella nivån för ledningen medan den reella nivån står för övriga medarbetare i organisationen. För att studera detta utgår vi från den förändring som Hyresbostäder i Norrköping AB genomför för att göra sin organisation mer affärsmässig och kundorienterad.

I och med att fler och fler datasystem används som informationsbärare inom hälso- och sjukvården, blir verksamheterna också sårbara på ett sätt som de inte varit tidigare.Hoten mot informationsförsörjningen kan vara både interna och externa. As the cities are becoming more crowded, the urban distribution has become a major logistical challenge. Some commonproblems in the inner cities arelimited accessibility and idling. Site fidelity, the behaviour of animals to return to areas where they have been before is a common trait in many species. The Scandinavian moose is known to show fidelity to its range, but to what extent, is little known. The landscape in Sweden changes in a predictable and unpredictable way and hence gives the opportunity to test the existence of fidelity. I used the kernel Brownian bridge method to estimate the home ranges of individual moose over consecutive years and estimated the overlap at the home range level. I also used Euclidian distance to look on calving site fidelity.

Detta examensarbete går ut på att ta fram en applikation, avsedd för mobiltelefoner, där man på ett enkelt sätt kan få reda på avgångarna för Dalarnas kollektivtrafik. Det stigande bensinpriset och bilåkningens negativa miljöpåverkan ligger som grund till att Etex AB och Balanz AB vill undersöka om det går att få människor att välja bussen framför personbilen. Om man genom denna applikation kan underlätta planeringen av människors dagliga resor, hur påverkas då valet av fortskaffningsmedel?Resultatet blev en applikation där man, via sin mobiltelefon, bland annat kan ta reda på avgångar för utvalda linjer av Dalatrafiks bussar, hantera linjekartor och synkronisera avgångar med telefonens kalender. Alla tidtabeller sparas i telefonen för att minska nätverkstrafiken och för att informationen enkelt ska kunna återanvändas.Dalatrafik är det företag som ansvarar för kollektivtrafiken i Dalarna.

Aktivitetsbaserad kalkylering (ABC) är en kalkyleringsmetod som blev populärt under slutet av 80-talet och har sedan dess engagerat många forskare och praktiker. Konceptet växte allteftersom konsultbolag sålde implementeringar, mjukvara togs fram och vetenskapliga artiklar publicerades. Metoden kom dock att kritiseras för att vara komplex och resurskrävande och det skapades en bild av att det endast var stora företag som var lämpade att använda sig av metoden. På senare tid har studier gjorts som visat att mindre företag framgångsrikt kunnat implementera och använda sig av ABC och rekommendationer och riktlinjer för dessa har tagits fram. Vi finner dock en avsaknad på studier riktade mot mikroföretags tillämpande av ABC.

Denna rapport handlar om projektgruppens samlade erfarenheter om hur det är att arbetamed ett större mjukvaruprojekt. Fokus för detta ligger på erfarenheter inom gruppdynamikoch kundinteraktion. Rapporten lyfter även fram hur användandet av Essence Kernel Alpha:spåverkade gruppens arbete. Rapporten försöker också undersöka och ge förslag påfinansieringsmodeller för projekt med öppen källkod. Det som iakttogs var att planering ochöppen kommunikation i stor del påverkar ett projekts utveckling.

I arbetet som följer har jag gjort en undersökning om hackelselängden vid skörd av majs. Jag har varit ute hos fem olika entreprenörer vid ett tillfälle och vid två tillfällen för tre av dem. Jag har tagit reda på inställningar för hacken och mätt avståndet i kärnkrossen vid det första tillfället på varje ställe. Vidare togs ts-prov, antalet hela kärnor som passerade hacken analyserades och partikelstorleksfördelningen bestämdes. Vid tillfälle två gjordes bara proverna på den hackade majsen.Syftet med examensarbetet var att ta reda på om entreprenörerna som skördar majs till lantbrukare använder de inställningar som de uppger.

This report evaluates whether an interpreted high-level garbage collected language has enough information about its memory behaviour to make better cache decisions than modern general CPU hardware.With a generational garbage collector, depending on promotion algorithm and generation size, around 90% of all objects never leave the first generation. This report is based on the hypothesis that, because of the low promotion rate, accesses to higher generations are sufficiently rare not to benefit from caching.To test this hypothesis, we built an operating system with a Scheme interpreter in kernel mode, where the interpreter controls the cache. Generic x86 PC hardware was used, since it allows fine-grained control of cache decisions.Measurements of execution time in this interpreter show that disabling the cache for generations higher than the first does not give any performance gain, but rather a performance loss of up to 50%.We conclude that this interpreter design is not an improvement, but cannot conclude that the hypothesis is false in general. We suggest building a better CPU simulator to gather more data from which to make better caching decisions, moving internal interpreter data structures into the garbage collected heap and modifying the hardware to allow control in the currently rigid dimension of where data is cached---for example separate control of instruction and data caches and separate data caches for different areas of memory..
