This bachelor thesis focuses on the ethics concerning the possession of nuclear weapons seen from a deontological and utilitarian perspective. I have also considered the aspects of International law, the Just-war Theory, and Michael Walzer's Legalist Paradigm. The research question that guides my essay is: Is it possible to ethically justify a country's possession of nuclear arms, which results in direct and indirect threats against other countries?I have chosen to focus my essay on the period of 1945 to 1990, also referred to as the Cold War. I find the bipolar system that existed between the USA and the Soviet Union as a good empirical example, during which the nuclear arms debate constantly took place.The result that my thesis brings is rather ambiguous.

This qualitative study is based upon interviews with librarians. It investigates the librarians? opinions on material adapted for disabled people and examines strategies used to market user friendly services for the disabled. The study explores librarians? views about streaming directly on the internet.

The aim of this exam is about possibility to position a didactical theory of Curriculum for compulsory school, preschool class and the leisure-time centre 2011 (Lgr11). I use Michael Foucault?s discourse analysis to study the syllabuses for social sciences subjects History and Religion. The main theme is to seek what kind of world does these two social study subjects construct for students in high school. The point of using Foucault?s discourse is to seek specific knowledge and words which is used for power positioning.

The empirical data that lies behind this survey comes from field work between 1992 and 1995. This field work represents work I made myself as a sales-man for the company, Malmberg Original Water. The task was to implement the Malmberg mineral water brand on the restaurant market of the South-Swedish area. Our aim was to reach the upper-scale, premium market of restaurants. The mission was successfully completed, and at 1996 we had completed the position as the most exclusively positioned mineral water brand in Skåne (Southernmost Sweden).

The overall purpose of this essay was to provide a better understanding of the importance of discretion for social workers in direct social services. To answer the purpose three questions were formulated: (1) How do social workers define and describe their discretion and their ability to independently accomplish their work? (2) How do social workers experience that workplace organization, policies and economic conditions interact with their discretion and (3) How do social workers experience that the interaction with the client can affect how they use their discretion in the individual case? The method used was qualitative interviews. The theoretical framework was Michael Lipskys (1980) Street-level bureaucracy and the four themes organization, professional role, skills and interaction.The results showed that the respondents, although they did not consider themselves to be affected by the economy still adapted to budget restrictions when they said that they were cost conscious in their work. This adjustment to budget framework could possibly be what made them not feel limited in their work.

Clarice Lispectors is one of Latin Americas most famous writers, and she wrote a number of books during her lifetime. Her novel Stream of Life (Água viva), which came out in 1973 and was translated into Swedish in 2007, is considered to be one of Lispectors most difficult texts to read. It consists of several fragments put together into one text; however the text has no traditional narrative or structure. It is the flow of moments that moves the text forward, as it is written down by the protagonist in the book.The primary aim of this essay is to examine how the protagonist in Stream of Life through different means, as the moment, the description, the word and the variations, creates an active participation in the formation of its identity. I will discuss the moment and its act of constructing the book?s circular structure, which is of importance.

This study aims to identify the municipalities of Hallands? methods, guidelines and policies in integration concerning new arrivals of children and teenagers. Some of the new arrivals are under the power of Swedish Migration Board and some of them are by a contract handed over to the municipalities. The evaluation is based on Michael Lipskys street-level bureaucracy which puts its focus on the lower level of bureaucrats meeting with clients. The frame is Skolverkets guideline for education of new arrivals which is more or less a way towards a common policy.

The purpose of this paper is to study how people without home experience social services and how they experience their space of action when they meet social services. In order to answer these questions, a qualitative approach has been used. The empirical material consists of five interviews with people who have contact with social services because they are homeless. To support my analysis of the space of action for the persons being interviewed, I?ve used two theoretical perspectives, power analysis by Michel Foucault and Rational Choice.

The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to examine the accessibility and barriers of public libraries to intellectual and mentally disabled children and young people. This we will do by examining whether the library staff acts according to policies of the libraries. Our method has been qualitative interviews with library staff and we have also observed the environment, media and marketing of these libraries. As a theoretical starting point of the analysis we use Michael Buckland?s different aspects of access to information.

Syfte: Syftet med uppsatsen har två delar: Att göra en konkurrensanalys av fem företag i polymerindustrin, en mogen industri, genom att identifiera viktiga strategiska nyckelområden och använda detta som grund. Konkurrensanalysen kommer sedan att vidareutvecklas genom att använda strategy canvas med intentionen att visualisera företagens strategier. Metod: Undersökningen har ett kvalitativt angreppssätt för att vi ska kunna skapa en bättre förståelse för företagen samt svara på vårt syfte att göra en konkurrensanalys. Den abduktiva ansatsen har möjliggjort för oss att vara flexibla i vårt användande av teori och empiri. Vi har undersökt fem företag i polymerindustrin: Primärdata består av intervjuer med analytiker samt utvalda företagsrepresentanter.

The purpose of this thesis is to explore the situation for ebooksin Swedish public libraries. The background is anincreasing lending of e-books in public libraries, with anacquisition model formed when e-books were more of anexperiment in a few libraries. The debate has escalated in therecent years and in this thesis I aim to investigate thelibraries? experience with e-books and the current pricemodel. The empirical material comes from interviews witheight head of public libraries in the Västra Götaland region.As theoretical background, I have used Michael Buckland?sfour roles of collections and price models from Lee andBoyle.My results show ambivalence with the price model.

Biståndsorganisationer brottas alltid med problem kring hur relationer ska etableras mellan dem själva och mottagarländerna. Samtidigt som relationen ska vara jämlik brottas biståndsorganisationerna även med problemen kring hur fördelningen av biståndsresurser ska bli så rättvis som möjligt.Denna studie är en kritisk diskursanalys av sju årsredovisningar utgivna av den statliga svenska biståndsorganisationen SIDA/Sida åren 1976/77 till 2005. I dessa årsredovisningar har jag letat efter olika beskrivningar av bistånd och biståndspolitik.I analysen av det empiriska materialet har framkommit att SIDA/Sida beskriver bistånd i fyra olika diskurser. Dessa är Bistånd som samarbete, Bistånd på grund av fattigdom, Bistånd som uppgift och Bistånd och rättvis fördelning.De beskrivningar SIDA/Sida gör bidrar till upprätthållandet av en postkolonial biståndsdiskurs där stereotyper kring biståndsgivare och ?tagare är mycket tydligt.

Denna uppsats avser att undersöka huruvida Porters Femkrafts-modell kan skönjas i ett företags strategi vid etableringen på en ny marknad. Syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att ta reda på om Tickets strategiska beslutsunderlag vid nyetableringen på den danska Internetmarkanden skedde utifrån Porters modell? Hur kan Tickets strategi kopplas till Porters modell? Hur skiljer sig Tickets strategi från Porters modell? Utifrån intervjuer med Ticket samt studerande av årsredovisning har data insamlats om Tickets agerande och formulering av strategi. Denna data har analyserats i förhållande till Porters femkraftsmodell för att klargöra skillnader och samband mellan teori och verklighet samt varför dessa har betydelse för företaget.Undersökningen visar att Porters femkraftsmodell kan kopplas till Tickets strategi men att det finns stora begränsningar i dess betydelse. De fem krafternas relevans varierar för Ticket.

SAMMANFATTNINGHot och våld mot myndighetsutövande handläggare inom olika myndigheter ökar i dagens samhälle, enligt statistik och media. Vi har för att öka kunskapen om detta valt att belysa de myndighetsutövande handläggarnas egna upplevelser i denna studie.Syftet med studien är att studera myndighetsutövande handläggares föreställning och upplevelse av den hotbild som finns riktad mot dem i deras arbetssituation och hur detta påverkar deras arbetsvardag.Uppsatsen är kvalitativ och baseras på intervjuer, urvalet består av 8 handläggare från Socialtjänsten och Försäkringskassan i en mellansvensk stad. Vi har i arbetet valt att använda oss av Roine Johanssons organisationsanalys samt Michael Lipskys organisationsteori som belyser byråkrati utifrån gräsrotsperspektiv samt Yeheskel Hazenfelds teori om männsikobehandlande organisationer.Resultatet visar att de myndighetsutövande handläggarnas upplevelse och föreställningar inte riktigt överensstämmer med statistiken och vad som framkommit av tidigare forskning. Handläggarna tycker att medias bild är uppförstorad och anser att hotfulla situationer är förhållandevis ovanliga. Resultatet visar också att handläggarna tänker mycket på sitt bemötande gentemot klienterna..
