The purpose of this study is to examine and explain why three Swedish public libraries failedin their ambition to act as information services for small and Medium-sized firms (SMF). To support this purpose two major assumptions are made:1) Public libraries who plan to run this kind of "business" must act with the same means as "professional" services.2) The service must be adjusted to the information needs of the customer.Based on these assumptions sixteen factors which are crucial to the "success" for this kind of service are presented.Applied to the information services of Lidkoping, Sölvesborg and Västervik, these factors reveal a number of shortcomings and mistakes made by the libraries.To understand this result these information services are seen as parts of a traditional Swedish public "library-thought". It is shown that, fundamental ideas in the way the public libraries are defined, like the responsibility to act in a neutral and democratic way, also characterised the three information services.These ideas together with the opinion of SMF as a "rational" information-consumer resulted in information services who did not meet the information-needs and information-behaviour of SMF..

Given that the oil prices have risen and the environmental regulations has become more stringent, the interest in operating efficiency has increased. The project has investigated the possibility of producing electricity from waste heat generated in the diesel process. One technique to utilize and convert energy into electricity is the ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle). This process is based on the Rankine process (the steam process), the difference from the traditional Rankine process is that instead of water as a working Medium, an organic substance is used. The main component used in the process is a evaporator, a turbine, a condenser and a pump.

The purpose of our essay was to illustrate how pupils in a Medium-sized Swedish town in the 9th grade apprehend and explain bullying. We wanted to compare the pupils' opinions with student teachers' in college.Our questions were: How do the participants in the study define bullying? What are the characteristics of the bully and the victim of the bullying? Where, when and how does the bullying take place? What is the reason for the bullying? Are there any gender-related aspects of bullying? What is the participants? view of the teachers? role? Are there any differences between the pupils' and the teacher students' opinions about bullying, and in that case; what are the differences?We used a qualitative method by interviewing groups of pupils and teacher students. Our survey showed that the pupils' and the teacher students' opinions about bullying were similar in most cases. Bullying is when a pupil is exposed to negative actions several times.

Through this study we want to enlighten how different companies work with their internal branding and how well they succeed in this process. We also want to examine if there are any differences in this work depending on the companies market position. Following question is used to investigate this process;- In what way and how well are companies working, depending on market position to implement and maintain their work with the internal brand?For the study a theoretical model was created based on our existing theory. Många av dagens datoranvändare tyckerdessutom säkerhet relaterat till datorer och nätverk är komplicerat. Implementerad lösningtillhandahåller därför möjligheten att med hjälp av en LiveCD och ett USB-minne få tillgångtill både en säker fjärranslutning och fjärrskrivbord, genom att enbart skriva in ett lösenord.Tjänsterna konfigureras alltså automatiskt i bakgrunden; användaren behöver inte hålla redapå mer än ett lösenord. En LiveCD är också ett skrivskyddat Medium vilket innebär attskadlig kod har svårt att få fäste i systemet.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out the possibilities for librarians and book bloggers to collaborate. We find this relevant because of blogs being a new Medium that could be useful for librarians to embrace. Book blogs are often networks of blogs connected to each other through their common interest in literature and we have examined how this could be of use for librarians.The method we have used is semi-structured interviews, which gave us the possibility to adjust our questions based on the informants? answers, when necessary. Our informants have been both librarians and book bloggers; we have met some of them and interviewed the others by e-mail.

Det här arbetet behandlar om det utifrån två omslagsillustrationer från Tove Janssons böcker om mumintrollen går att skapa en tredimensionell spelmiljö som behåller omslagens stil och atmosfär. Rotat i begreppet remediering som myntades av Bolter och Grusin undersöks också om det är någon skillnad i hur de tredimensionella miljöerna uppfattas i jämförelse med omslagen och beroende på om de visas på ett stort Medium som en PC, eller ett litet som smartphone. 3D-miljöerna skapades och renderades ut i filmform för att visas på de två medierna i en kvantitativ enkätundersökning. Undersökningen visade att miljöerna till PC mottogs väl och remedieringen kunde anses vara lyckad. Smartphone-varianten mottogs med blandade resultat där remedieringen både ansågs vara bättre och sämre än PC-varianten och ingen definitiv slutsats kunde därför ges.

Our thesis focus on how retirees perceive Tv4s news casts of economy news where we focused on five different aspects: What is the relationship between the news cast and the viewer and how does the viewer express their understanding of the news cast and the way it is constructed? What are the viewers attitude towards the news content and how do they find the news cast useful for them personally?We choosed retirees as our target group due to their vulnerable economic position in today?s society and TV as an important Medium for them due to the digital divide. The study was performed with twelve qualitative interviews and one group interview where six retirees took part.We discovered a big interest for economic news in the target group. The majority had a sympathetic view of the news cast they saw but they also expressed skepticism toward the economy segment and/or news castings. The majority expressed a lack of trust for the journalists and the experts brought in to share observations and make announcements, and the financial business overall.

The aim of our research was to investigate if oat is capable of extracting cadmium to such extent that it is usable in decontaminating polluted soils. We grew oat in a hydroponic culture during 28 days in a controlled environment and a total of 30 plants were used. The nutrient solutions were contaminated with cadmium of ten different concentrations after seven days. After harvesting the plants, the roots were separated from the shoots, placed in separate containers and then turned to ashes. The cadmium content was measured three times per sample in an atomic absorption spectrometer.Our results indicate that the ability of oat to extract cadmium from a solution is linearly dependent of the cadmium concentration of the solution.

Syftet med studien är att undersöka elevers och fritidspedagogers uppfattningar om datorn och användningen av den på fritidshemmet.En kvalitativ metod med en induktiv ansats har använts i studien. För att få svar på frågeställningarna genomfördes intervjuer med fritidspedagoger och elever i fritidsverksamheten. Resultatet från intervjuerna kategoriserades utifrån olika uppfattningar.Eleverna använde datorn på fritidshemmet till att spela datorspel, lyssna på musik, söka efter information och bild- och filmbehandling. Datorns betydelse enligt dem var att de kunde lära sig saker, hitta information snabbt och förstå bättre genom att kolla på Youtube.Fritidspedagogerna berättade att de använder datorn till planering, som musikspelare och till bild- och filmbehandling. Datorns betydelse enligt dem var att snabbt få tillgång till information, att följa med i utvecklingen, att ge status, att fylla ett behov, att underlätta verksamheten och vara ett Medium för elevinflytande..

I have through qualitative interviews and analysis of previous research in the area searched answers to what tablets are used for in preschools and the reason why they are used in this way. In addition, it examines the similarities and differences there are in how teachers and children describe the use of the tool in preschool. The study is also looking for answers on whether and how the plates are used to develop children's scientific knowledge. There are six teachers and 14 children's statement that forms the basis for the analysis. The results indicate that tablets are used for two purposes.

The idea to write this essay came to mind, when we were asked to design the website of a new registered company named Artoteket. The company?s purpose is to hire out and market art on the Internet to bigger companies such as banks, law firms and industrial company?s etc.

In this study I analysed how burning affects sprouting ability and survival of oak (Quercus robur) during the first season after a burn in southern Sweden. The study consisted of two separate field tests; in the first, two 300 m2- plots in western oak dominated forest were burned to analyze the fire behavior and the immediate mortality of oak and beech seedlings defined as individuals (> 20cm of height). At the end of the season almost 50% of the oak seedlings had resprouted while the beech seedlings had 100% mortality. An attempt to investigate the effect of the burn of artificially sown acorns was totally ruined by wild boar grouting before any conclusive results could be seen. In the second test the resprouting ability of oaks of varying diameters (average BHD 7-9 cm, range 2-42 cm) was examined one season after a prescribed burn in southeastern Sweden.
