The aim of the study has been to find out children?s librarians? views on and management of media that contains topics with a controversial nature and also to find out how this affects the public library as a democratic institution. We have conducted the study by interviewing six children?s librarians. By using Vestheim?s terms value rationality and instrumental rationality, we have been categorizing the answers from our informants and thus identified two different points of view.

Technology based self-service (TBSS) used in supermarket self-scanning checkouts is a relatively new phenomenon in Sweden. Studies on TBSS as a self- checkout device have been formerly carried out but with focus on the customer perspective. The authors therefore saw a challenge in covering the self-scan checkout concept, from a company perspective. The purpose of this research paper is to investigate, through a management perspective, the changes brought about by implementing an innovative TBSS system in Swedish supermarkets, and its effect on the competitiveness of the company. This is done by presenting and linking the theoretical framework and empirical study in the research.

The purpose of this study has been to explore definitions of violence performed in the name of honor, and the conditions under which the phenomenon occurs and is upheld. Furthermore, the study aimed at exploring how the Swedish expression for violence in the name of honor, ?hedersrelaterat våld?, is used within the Swedish media. To achieve these purposes, previous research in this matter was reviewed, as well as an analysis by means of categorizing the content of news articles from two Swedish daily newspapers. Previous research has showed that this type of violence occurs foremost within cultures upholding patriarchal structures and traditions, and women?s (non-)sexuality is looked upon as being of an utmost importance for the family?s honor.

The purpose of this study is to examine the usage of IT technology within preschool and study how IT tools are used by preschool staff for administrative as well as pedagogical assignments. Several aspects affects the work preschool staff do with IT which concerns availability to technology, how technology is used and how technology is made available for the children. There are a number of questions linked to these aspects where some examples this study examines are which advantages, disadvantages, obstacles or other limitations that comes with introducing IT? This study also examines how, when and in what contexts IT is being used? Other questions examined are the pedagogue?s general views of IT, competence development and eventual needs of investment? Further on this study examines to some part how children interact with IT during pedagogical activities? The overall objective is to shed light on problems that preschool staff encounter  in their daily work and on the basis of identifying important questions at issue that could constitute a basis for further research. The results of this study are based on both a literature review and a field study.

The aim in this thesis is to study what attitude music teachers in Sweden and New Zealand have towards Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in music education and obtain a better understanding of how their attitudes affect the way they use ICT in their teaching. Another intention is to discuss differences and similarities between the teachers´ preferences regarding this issue in the two different countries, and whether it has any effect on teaching. It's a qualitative study based on interviews with music teachers from both countries. Through the answers we can get an impression about how ICT is used in music education, how the curriculum is interpreted when it comes to use ICT in music education and how the teachers' attitudes towards ICT affect the music education. This thesis shows that teachers are positive towards ICT in music education but the attitude, knowledge and the way of using it differs, due to access to technology and different opinions about what is essential in music and what is pedagogical.

Tiggeri och tiggare är idag ett omtalat fenomen som berör människor på olika sätt. Hur människor bildar sig en uppfattning kring ett fenomen kan många gånger avgöras av hur media framställer fenomenet. I denna studie presenteras en analys kring hur tiggeri och tiggare framställs i media över en längre tidsperiod. Materialet består av 30 artiklar publicerade i Dagens Nyheter under perioden december 1998 ? december 2013.

Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka vad lärare och pedagoger anser om effekterna av media, IT och IKT i undervisningen. Främjar eller hämmar det elevernas kunskapsinhämtande och vilken påverkan har den tekniska tillgången på elevernas skriftspråk, det vill säga hur mycket påverkas eleverna av det språk som förekommer i andra informella kontexter så som textmeddelande (sms) via telefonen, bruket av chattspråk samt de bloggsidor som de regelbundet besöker. The management of assets in organisations today can be a challenging task and optimising their usage is critical to ensure maximum profit. For rental businesses offering tangible products efficient management of movable assets are an essential part of the business strategy. The main purpose of this study is to investigate how asset management and asset information management can be carried out in rental businesses and in what ways information technology can support it. By doing a literature review combined with a case study where three rental businesses and their use of information technology were examined we could identify several important aspects regarding asset information management. The results we have found is that rental businesses with a high degree of digitization in existing asset information management systems are able to rationalize existing work processes, which in some ways changes the roles of employees.

Syftet med denna kandidatuppsats är att undersöka vilka faktorer som kantänkas ligga bakom medias sätt att skriva om socialt arbete, på vilket sätt media skriver om socialt arbete utifrån hur tre svenska tidningsgenrer speglade det sociala arbetets profession åren 2002 och 2012 och vad detta kan tänkas ha för påverkan på läsarna och det sociala arbetets profession. Metoderna som används i undersökningen är en kvalitativ innehållsanalys och en diskursanalys. Materialet begränsas till artiklar publicerade i Sverige åren 2002 och 2012, från en national-, en regional- och åtta landsortstidningar. Faktorer som kan tänkas ligga bakom tidningars sätt att skriva om socialt arbete kan kopplas till att media använder sig av ett stiliserat berättande med bestämda roller.
