Photography has a big role in information sharing today. Especially in the hotel industry where it is the closest thing a customer can get to the product that is being sold. This study intends to find out how you can make use of rhetorical models and techniques of photography to enhance the communication skills of photos of hotel rooms. The main focus was to understand the difference between informative and emotional photographs and what consumers themselves focus on when choosing a hotel, and also how to use the collected information to create a larger buying interest through hotel photography. Using previous research work and quantitative data collection method, we have concluded that the informational and emotional photography methods have obvious differences but also many similarities, and are most effective used together and that the hotel consumer is more aware of the images influence then we assumed..

The everyday work at a staffing agency and how its leaders deal with the problems that appears: A case study at Maxkompetens.The purpose of this paper is to increase the understanding of how leaders at a staffing company deal with the everyday problems that arise from a geographically dispersed workforce.The staffing industry has grown by 30-40 percent annually and has over the past 15 years been the fastest growing industry in Sweden. This shows that the interest and demand for the staffing industry and its activities are now rising at an increasingly faster pace. This is an industry that is operating under specific conditions and with a geographically dispersed workforce. This will make the leaders of a staffing company to an important link between the staffing leaders and the staffing personnel.The relationship between the staffing company's leaders and its personnel is important, but not completely trouble free. Difficulties arise in that the employees may be located in different places and at various client companies with the result that the leaders of the staffing company cannot have a daily personal contact with their geographically dispersed personnel.We have used a qualitative approach on our paper and our empirical methodology has been a case study with ethnography and interviews.

AbstractThe tourism industry has evolved to a vital factor for destination development in rural areas. This study aims to see how the tourism industry can be seen as an opportunity for development in rural areas. To be able to develop, rural areas have to be restructured and this study presents the restructuring problems that rural areas usually face and how developing tourism can be seen as a solution to these problems. Five destinations of rural character have been investigated in this study in order to see how these restructuring problems are expressed and addressed through tourism. A key example has been used to provide a clearer image of how these problems and tourism are related to each other and how their interaction can create a positive development for rural areas in Sweden..

Within process or manufacturing industries, the production of goods and services or the products themselves may have negative side effects such as pollution. An important task for environmental policy is to control and limit these pollutions, for example via regulatory measures. Although, the efficiency of such measures vary greatly between different industries and an increasingly important task for environmental policy is then to encourage companies to engage in environmentally motivated innovation. Governments can utilize other measures than regulation to indirectly decrease pollution. This thesis aims to analyze such activities and how it affects the innovativeness of wastewater treatment, refrigeration and automobile manufacturing industries.

Barn och strömmande media : Hur påverkar barns kognitiva färdigheter deras sätt att interagera med strömmande media?

Allt yngre barn använder digitala tjänster i form av strömmande media, vilket kräver att tjänster ämnade för dem anpassas utefter deras förutsättningar. Barn skiljer sig vanligtvis kognitivt från vuxna eftersom de oftast inte hunnit erfara och uppleva lika mycket. Det innebär att barn har andra behov än vuxna för att kunna interagera med strömmande media. I denna uppsats undersöks hur olika kognitiva färdigheter påverkar barns interaktion med strömmande media. Inledningsvis kartläggs interaktionsdesign, användbarhet, användbarhet för barn och kognitiva färdigheter som är uppsatsens huvudämnen.

During the latest 50 years, the Swedish porcelain tableware industry has gone from being rather successful to experience significant problems. Our empirical study attributes these problems to underlying changes in consumer buying behaviour, whereas current generation theory supports our findings. The younger generation has significantly different preferences compared to older generations, with less focus on quality and more focus on variability, and there is reason to believe that these findings also are applicable to other consumer purchases. Parallel to new technological advancements, including the development of interactive recommender systems, digital music services on the Internet, such as Spotify, have in a short time span gradually replaced former physical media such as CDs and MP3-players and become pioneers on a market with an otherwise uncertain future. By subscribing to the service, users have access to a vast library of music and from any device with Internet access. In order to provide a satisfactory and useful musical experience, different ways of coping with the vastness is required - which is precisely what recommender systems are for. Improved filtering techniques and use of devices built in sensors, make way for new opportunities of more precise and contextually tailored suggestions for track selection, which in turn leads to potential privacy issues when using interactive music services. But where do we stand today? By compiling, exemplifying and discussing three different perspectives with relating to the development of interactive music recommender systems, the objective for this paper is to provide a for science, industry and user, objectively nuanced account of current potentials and expectations.

Hälsobudskap i media

I media förekommer det idag ett stort utbud av olika hälsobudskap och många gånger kan detvara svårt att bedöma sanningshalten i budskapen. Hälsobudskapen kan även skapa förvirringoch stress hos människor och framförallt ungdomar anses vara en mer sårbar och utsatt grupp(Sandberg, 2005). Enligt kursplanen för hem- och konsumentkunskap ska budskap i mediavara en del av undervisningen. Bland annat ska undervisningen behandla budskapenspåverkan på människor och hur de kan bemötas på ett reflekterat sätt (Skolverket, 2011d). Idenna kvalitativa studie har vårt syfte därför varit att belysa hem- ochkonsumentkunskaplärares uppfattningar om hälsa och hälsobudskap i media och dess plats iundervisningen i hem- och konsumentkunskap i årskurs 7-9.

The ambition of this project is to make an overview of the Swedish upholstery industry and to make a suitable complement to the Carl Malmsten upholstery collection.The Swedish furniture industry employs about 20 000 people in 815 companies. Totally the branch had a turnover of 17,5 billion Swedish krona in the year 2000. Of these 815 companies most of them are small family driven companies with low-tech industry. 10 % of the 815 companies stand for 60% of the production. These are large-scale companies and have a hi-tech industry, even compared with other types of industries.

Den feministiska serien Drift lanserades under våren 2007 av Kolik Förlag som en första del i ett projekt kallat Femisex. In this thesis we present the procedures and outcomes of adopting two roles in a study: the role of a researcher and the role of a designer. The subject is crossmedia design. Crossmedia is a growing and changing trend for media producers of today its design is of great importance. The purpose is to create a concept from scratch that stands out from the crowd and engage people with the use of cross media as the approach. We also aim to investigate if a cross media designer can rely on previous research made within this subject or if the scene has changed.In order to test and to fully understand the process of the subject, we designed a crossmedia concept, based upon previous and related research.

Bibliotek, Finkultur och TV-spel : En diskursanalys av debatten kring TV-spel och bibliotek

This bachelor´s thesis analyzes the debate in a number of Swedish media regarding the introduction of video games as a new medium in the public libraries. The theory and method used is discourse analysis. Three questions were asked: how the introduction of video games as a new media in libraries is discussed, how is it motivated and in what way the authors of the articles analyzed are speaking about new media and the mission of the library. The selected articles were divided into four themes and the analysis resulted in the identification of two main discourses, one which is positive to the introduction and integration of new media in the libraries? collections, and one which has a more negative approach and uses quality and culture as an argument. The conclusion is that video games are a medium so widely used that librarians have to decide whether or not they want to include it in the libraries? collections, and by deciding this they reveal their attitude towards the mission and purpose of the public library..

Representationer av romer i dagens media

I denna studie undersöks hur romer representeras i media. Detta görs utifrån två aktuella nyhetshändelser under 2013 där jag söker svar på vilka som får framträda i artiklarna, vilka nyckelord som används i texterna samt hur romer representeras genom en bildanalys.  En jämförelse görs också historiskt med tidigare skildringar av romer för att se om representationen av romer är liknande sedan tidigare. Jag blev intresserad att göra denna studie om romer och media då romer inte alltför längesedan blivit en erkänd minoritetsgrupp men som historiskt varit en väldigt utsatt grupp i Sverige och länder runt om i Europa.  Resultatet av studien visar att romer idag beskrivs med liknande negativa konnotationer som de gjort historiskt men att detta inte uttrycks i media på samma sätt idag. Skillnaden mellan hur romer representeras idag och under tidigt 1900-tal är att det förut skrevs öppet negativt om romer ? idag används inte språkbruket för att identifiera romer utan det uttrycks mellan raderna.     .

Barkar det åt skogen för svenskt tidningspapper? : empirisk analys av efterfrågan och företagsstrategier på den svenska marknaden

According to Food and Agriculture Organization newsprint is defined as: Uncoated paper, unsized (or only slightly sized), containing at least 60 percent of mechanical wood pulp. The consumption of newsprint in Sweden was just over 798 000 tonnes in 2009, which represents approximately 90 kg per person. Although there are studies that predict a drastic reduction in newsprint consumption in the Western world, there seems to be a clear difference between forecasts for the future given by statistical analysis of newsprint consumption and forecasts given by experts in the industry. The former predict a continuing increase while the experts see a coming decrease in consumption.In this report, both demand and business strategies of newsprint in Sweden are studied. The study also presents a forecast of the future which is based on historical data and qualitative interviews.
