Förutsättningar att utforma stationsbatterier i vattenkraftverk med Li-jonteknik

In hydropower plants it is necessary to always have local power supply. Therefore, the plants are equipped with batteries as stationary back up power. Vattenfall Vattenkraft is using lead acid batteries but has been investigating alternatives to replace them. The aim of this study is to investigate the potential of using Li-ion technology as back up power.The study showed that Li-ion batteries have many qualities. The Li-ion technology will decrease the space and maintenance demand.

System Andersson AB is a company located in Jönköping that works with developing computer systems for the mechanical engineering industry. As of today, when this report is written, the company is working on the development of a new Manufacturing Planning and Control (MPC) system. This new system aims to create not only a user friendly interface but also a modern, stylish interface. To achieve this, the company has decided to work with a, for them, new application framework; Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF).System Andersson is well known for developing systems for different kinds of touch screens, this project is no exception. For this new user interface the company wishes to implement different types of Drag&Drop functionality.

I got interested in this subject when I came in contact with Västtrafiks new paymentsystem myself during my visits in Gothenburg. I suspected problems with the informationmaterial regarding it and others seemed to share my opinion that the payment system wasdiffcult to understand. When I contacted Västtrafik and asked them about the paymentsystem they confirmed that some understanding diffculties had occurred. With thatconfirmation I decided to make it my project to look in to the matter.Some methods were used to identify the problems. The methods could again confirm thatthere were some problems with the payment system and that the information material wasa vital reason.

This bachelor?s degree thesis was conducted in mechanical engineering at Halmstad University during spring semester 2010 in close collaboration with the company Gremo AB, located in Ätran, Sweden. Gremo AB produces, developes and sales forest machines in both Sweden and on the international market.Gremo AB belongs to one of the market leaders in forest industry, especially with their forwarder. In order to become a market leader even with their harvester, the company decided to change the harvester to have a swivel and a leveling driver cabin.The aim with this bachelor?s degree thesis was to develop a design concept for the harvester driver cabin, which Gremo AB can apply on the new harvester.

Fysisk innemiljö som en "tredje pedagog" : - en studie om elevers syn på förhållandet fysisk innemiljö och lärande

Föreliggande examensarbete handlar om den fysiska innemiljön och elevers lärande. Intresset för om eller hur den fysiska innemiljön påverkar elever i deras lärande, och hur elever själva uppfattar denna fråga har legat författarna varmt om hjärtat under hela deras lärarutbildning. Syftet med detta examensarbete är därför att skapa en förståelse för hur en utvald grupp elever i årskurs sju och nio ser på skolans fysiska innemiljö i relation till sitt lärande.Mot bakgrund till en genomförd enkätundersökning riktad till utvalda elever, visade resultatet att eleverna hade många synpunkter på det som påverkade dem negativt i deras lärande, t.ex. ventilation, belysning och smutsiga och stökiga klassrum med obekväma stolar. Eleverna nämnde även positiva faktorer som påverkar dem i sitt lärande, såsom ordning, avskildhet och samspel.

Varför svänger stenen? : En studie i curlingens komplexa tribosystem

The tribo system ice-curling stone was investigated in order to understand the mechanisms behind the stones' behavior on the ice sheet. The problem with non-identical stones should also be addressed.The stone curls, that is, its sliding path deviates from a straight line to the right for a clock-wise rotation and to the left for a anti-clock-wise rotation. Several mechanisms to explain this behavior have been proposed over the years but none has been successful.By carrying out experiments at the local curling rink and studying silicon castings of ice- and stone-surfaces with scanning electron microscopy and vertical scanning interferometry, it has been decided that the curl is not due to dry friction, ice-debris or the difference in friction on the left and right side of the stone. The side force comes from the fact that the friction is higher at the back of the stone than at the front.The contact between stone and ice is never completely dry, nor in the hydrodynamic lubrication regime. It is probably a combination of hydrodynamic lubrication and a contribution from mechanical scratching of the ice.

This thesis has been carried out within the bachelor program for mechanical engineering at Karlstad University in collaboration with BAE Systems in Karlskoga. The purpose with this work was to design a mechanism and associated parts for loading and unloading of shots between primary and secondary magazine in BAE's new 40mm's ship gun.Parts designed or redesigned among other things a transfer mechanism for shot at loading and unloading, well as a hatch mechanism which makes the shots do not fall out of the primary magazine when making separate use. Various important details have been designed to maintain a good functionality of the mechanism.The construction work has mainly been carried out in the CAD software Solid Edge and its associated FEM module. The construction work has also been carried out on rough calculations for constructed details in order to ensure that they meet the stringent requirements of military use in tough marine environment. Two of the most critical parts of the structure where analyzed with the FEM module for estimating the stresses in the material at the applied load.The final design, which is a result of the thesis, meets the requirement specification and the set targets.

With a larger awareness of the climate changes and increasing electricity prices, energy efficiency measures in the industry have become more common. By rationalize the activity and by the same time decrease the emission of greenhouse gases the company can both save money and reduce negative environmental impact. For the Swedish industries the electricity price have traditional been relative low, which has resulted in a considerable larger usage than other European countries. By a deregulation of the European electricity market the electricity price will level off between the countries, which will cause a higher electricity price in Sweden than we are use to. To prevent that the Swedish industry don?t lose competitiveness against the other European countries, it will require energy efficiency activities in all different forms.ABB Sweden has decided to decrease their total energy usage with five percent in two years.

This report covers the thesis done by mechanical engineering at the engineering program at the University of Halmstad. Student Work Development of packaging in the food industry includes 15 credits and has performed over 20 weeks in spring 2009. The thesis work is a compulsory part of education and aimed at the student must apply the knowledge it has given during training in a project related to reality. Student work has been carried out in cooperation with Hanson & Möhringen AB and the project's main objective was to develop an environmentally friendly packaging to their brand Falk Salt. When salt is one of the world's cheapest commodity was packing all the costs have to be as low as possible.

MPD-vågformer för helikopterradar

A helicopter based system equipped with a millimetre-wave fire control radar is studied for improvement of the detection probability for moving ground targets. The system is a pulse doppler radar that sends out the electromagnetic wave in repetitive pulses. The frequency in which radar sends this pulse is called Pulse Repetition Frequency (PRF). The velocity of the moving targets is measured by spectral analysis of the pulses received. With this sort of system some targets will not be possible to detect.

Energioptimering : Resteffektkylning av mellanlager för använt kärnbränsle (CLAB) Oskarshamn

This thesis is done in cooperation with SWECO Energuide in Växjö. They have been assigned by SKB in Oskarshamn to renew their electrical power supply and the ancillary processing systems in their Central provisional storage of spent nuclear fuel, CLAB. Today in the CLAB facility, the spent fuel is cooled down with water pumps, driven by asynchronous induction motors, where the water is regulated by mechanical valves to the desired flow. After the upgrade, the engines will be powered by AC drives that can control the pumps by changing the rotational speed and thus change the water's cooling effect on the nuclear fuel. In this study, I investigated the interference AC drives causes the feeding network and how to go about averting them.

Förstudie av motströms koaxialvärmeväxlare till Huddinge sjukhus

Centralsystemen för ventilation behöver inom de närmaste tio åren bytas ut i Huddinge sjukhus. Energiförbrukningen i ventilationssystemet förväntas kunna reduceras markant med hjälp av nya, effektiva system för värmeåtervinning och komfortkyla. Just nu pågår en process där flertalet lösningsförslag tagits fram och behöver utredas.I denna rapport presenteras en undersökning av en motströms koaxialvärmeväxlare för värmeåtervinning och ett kylsystem baserat på indirekt evaporativ kylning. Systemen har behandlats separat och utvärderats utifrån numeriska simuleringar i EES, Excel och MATLAB där beräkningarna för värmeväxlaren gjorts enligt NTU-metoden.För att uppnå effektivitetskraven visar sig den koaxiala värmeväxlaren blir orimligt stor samtidigt som tryckfallen i värmeväxlarens kanaler ger upphov till oacceptabla driftkostnader. Värmeväxlarlösningen är därför inte ett hållbart alternativ, varför en LCC-analys inte är inkluderad i denna rapport.Kylsystemet visar sig dessbättre vara mer intressant och skulle kunna kombineras med en annan typ av värmeväxlare för att sänka temperaturen vid varma sommardagar.

Fuktproblem i sydöstra Asien

The author has, with the help of AK Consultancy Indoor Air AB, formed a series of questions regarding moisture problems in buildings and how these are handled in extreme climates with high temperatures and a high relative humidity. Furthermore to analyse and indentify key material that makes a construction safe against moisture problems. Ventilation, AC and the choice of materials have in a later stage of the thesis been investigated to enhance the knowledge of moisture protection. The research for this report includes measurements on existing buildings, calculation models on the building envelope for analyses and the ingoing materials of the envelope. The health aspect of moisture problems related to ?sick building syndrome? has been included and interviews have been conducted to gather relevant information.A study of the American system, ASHRAE, American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers and the standards used in Singapore has been made to highlight the difference.
