Chewing behaviour includes both eating and ruminating activity. Chewing behaviour is of great importance for the feed intake as through the action of chewing (i.e. eating and ruminating) animals mechanically process the forages in small particle sizes and prepare the food for digestion. As cattle grow the chewing behaviour changes along with increasing body weight and chewing efficiency is increased. The aim of this thesis was to review the available scientific literature in order to describe chewing behaviour in growing cattle, as well as the factors that affect this behaviour.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate which apple cultivars are best suited for production of juice and cider. The study was limited to 41 cultivars. Common as well as uncommon apple cultivars were selected from available cultivars in the cold storage at Balsgård, Department of Horticultural Plant Breeding and Biotechnology, SLU.The practical part of the study consisted of the apples being pressed, and then the juice characteristics being assessed by appropriate criteria and methods of analysis. The analyses consisted of measurment of soluble sugars with a refractometer (Brix), titration of total acidity, determination of total phenolic content with a spectrophotometer, estimation of alcohol content by density meters and qualitative taste tests.The study did not account for different Maturity of cultivars. Different apple cultivars were pressed on separate occasions, before and after Christmas 2010.

There is a relationship between confidence in management and personnel satisfaction. The personnel?s confidence in management can be seen as a fundamental tool which is needed to ensure the success of the organizations mandate. This study investigates how management works to create and maintain confidence. The conditions that management has for building confidence are explored, as well as the significance of leadership in the building of confidence.

Denna uppsats inleds med en introducerande undersökning där vi finner att mjukvaror för förvaltning av Business Rules inte är använt av många svenska organisationer. Förundersökningen drev oss att undersöka hur Business Rules förvaltas inom svenska organisationer. Först sammanställdes en översikt över de fakta som finns tillhands inom ämnet för Business Rules samt lämpliga sätt att hantera Business Rules. Genom de förberedande studierna identifierades några brister som kan finnas i svenska organisationer som inte använder Business Rules och dessa ledde till en första och övergripande forskningsfråga. Frågan formulerades som följer: Hur förvaltas BR i IS och IT i svenska organisationers dagliga verksamhet? Den har sedan delats upp i sju stycken delfrågor som framställts utifrån problemområdet.

Syftet med studien handlar om att försöka förstå vilken betydelse trädgårdsmiljön har för människor som bor i bostadsrättslägenheter - ur ett hälsomässigt, estetiskt och skötselmässigt perspektiv. Framför allt handlar studien om att ta reda på hur medlemmarna använder sin trädgård och om den har någon hälsomässig betydelse. Studien ska undersöka hur de ser på utformningen av trädgårdsmiljön i sitt bostadsområde, samt hur de skulle föredra att ha den. Den ska också undersöka vilken syn medlemmarna har på skötselfrågan och hur föreningen valt att lösa skötseln av trädgården. Studien bygger på fem kvalitativa intervjuer med representanter från bostadsrättsföreningar som fått besvara frågor om medlemmarnas syn på sina trädgårdsmiljöer..

The purpose of this paper is to identify the current status of fuel cell technology and to establish whether said technology is mature enough to be implemented into the Swedish Armed Forces. The question to be answered in this paper is as follows: Can hydrogen gas and fuel cells be used as an alternative source of energy within the Swedish Armed Forces?This paper is based on theoretical studies and reports from prior research done on fuel cells. By studying these facts a predictive answer has been obtained. The answer I have come to, is that the Maturity of fuel cell technology is currently inadequate for the Swedish Armed Forces to implement, especially considering its harsh working conditions..

In this experience-based essay, I give examples of events that take place during a typical day at preschool. By highlighting these everyday events, I discuss around the parental role and its importance for children and child development. I apply a historical review when it comes to views on children and child rearing, and reflect on different approaches that we have towards the children. In the discussion, I reflect on the Childs need for boundaries, and thereby try to understand why we act differently in this respect. To gain more knowledge and understanding of the events I have taken help from theories in literature and from my own practical knowledge.

Few generations have gotten as much media attention as Generation Y. Growing up in the digital age Generation Y has become very different from previous generations. An interesting topic is if this is reflected in the way Generation Y act as leaders. The purpose of this study is to describe what kind of leadership Generation Y prefers, to explore how individuals belonging to Generation Y act as leaders and finally to investigate if there is a discrepancy between these two perspectives and if so try to understand it. By reviewing existing research and conducting depth interviews with employees and managers at a Swedish bank we recognize preferences in a number of categories, which Generation Y require from leaders.

The purpose of this thesis is to ascertain the main determinable factors of Swedish SMEs capital structure decisions and to investigate whether existing capital structure theories are applicable on Swedish SME financing. We have used panel data to run regressions of various capital structure determinants on three measures of capital structure; short- term debt, long-term debt and total debt. We found that growth opportunities, profitability and age are the most important capitalstructures determinants for our sample. Firm size shows a small explanatory result but the effective tax rate and the asset tangibility do not seem to explain the capital structure at all. Mitt examensarbete går ut på att undersöka möjligheterna att förenkla de moment inom den traditionella färskvirkestekniken som är tidskrävande utan att tillföra något till uttrycket. Syftet för arbetet är möjliggöra snabba beslut för att underlätta en inspirerande arbetsprocess där formen skapas samtidigt som produkten.Jag har utgått ifrån maskinverkstaden på Carl Malmsten Furiture Studies och tillverkat en ställbar borrmall där olika vinklar på ett snabbt sätt kan ställas in och där ämnet kan spännas fast trots att det är assymetriskt. Jag har i samarbete med Ulf Bengtsson, forskningsingenjör på IEI vid Linköpings universitet, utvecklat en fräsmall till en handöverfräs för att tillverka tappar. Business Intelligence (BI) är ett område vars syfte är att förbättra en organisations prestation genom analys av historisk data. BI är ett komplext område som inte bara handlar om tekniska lösningar, även om det är en förutsättning. För närvarande investeras det mycket i olika BI-lösningar och företagen behöver veta vad resurserna bör läggas på. I dagsläget finns det ingen modell som bedömer ett företags arbete med Business Intelligence utifrån ett flertal dimensioner.Syftet med den här studien var att utveckla en mognadsmodell för Business Intelligence och sedan jämföra de undersökta företagen Axfood, Scania och Systembolagets mognad.

Our purpose was to shed light on how parents act in respect of providing alcohol to young people when they ask for a taste of home, or wish to bring alcohol to such a party. We used qualitative interviews and the results show that some of the respondents think that it may be acceptable to provide alcohol, while some do not. The results also show that the respondents think that parents are important as a model for the young. They could not purchase alcohol for the purpose of giving it to the young but only if alcohol is available at home. The reason for this behavior is the parents' assessment that the young person demonstrates a level of Maturity for his age that they are presumed to be able to handle a small amount of alcohol.

This paper presents empirical evidence on the determinants of interest rate swap spreads in Sweden during the period 1999-2003. The results suggest that the spread between STIBOR and the general collateral repo rate is positively related to shorter Maturity swap spreads. The risk premium associated with commercial bonds is positively related to swap spreads of all maturities. A negative relationship is observed between the term structure of interest rates and swap spreads. The short-term interest rate is positively related to spreads with shorter maturities.

This paper is supposed to get an answer to how teenagers in a municipality in Kalmar Län in Sweden think about their individual role in a community. The essay is a comparative investigation at how age can affect teenagers's view at the community, based on contractualistic approach. The background issue clarifies the objectives and guidelines how the schools should work with the social norms and values. The method for this studie is a quantitative survey in which students in two different classes are compared. The method for comparing takes place using the theoretical position, which is based on the individual's social Maturity in the Swedish society.

Horses are grazers with a digestive system that is adapted for a high fiber diet. Forage is a fiber rich feed that includes grass and legumes. A deficiency of forage and an excess of grains may cause gut disturbances and stereotypic behavior. The aim of this literature study was to summarize information on the horse?s capacity to consume forage-only diets with focus on the horse?s need of energy and protein.
