Today small metal parts are mass-produced as for example rollers in cylinder bearings. At high velocity cutting the metal is cut with a great force in a scissor-like device. Both precision and repeatability is important to be able to guarantee good quality, but from an economical point of view it is also important to keep a great manufacturing capacity. The part of the process that is most time consuming is when the metal bar, that is about to be cut, is fed to the right position. Therefore it is interesting to examine if the time used for positioning can be reduced.

Syftet med detta arbete är att undersöka hur förändring av material påverkar varseblivningen av objekt när formen lämnas oförändrad. Detta kan vara av intresse då spel med realistisk grafisk stil blir mer och mer högupplöst vilket samtidigt ställer högre krav på de grafiska utvecklarna att framställa verklighetstrogna material.Jag har utfört en kvalitativ undersökning med personintervjuer av sex personer. Dessa sex personer har fått se tre objekt där de fått definiera objektets syfte. Intervjupersonerna fick sedan se objekten med olika material där mina frågor haft som mål att få respondenten att motivera uppfattat material samt det uppfattade materialets egenskaper. De intervjuades motiveringar om objekt och material har jag sedan tolkat utifrån litteratur om psykologi, främst om kategorisering som George Lakoffs bok "Women, Fire, and Dangerous Things" (1990) beskriver.Min undersökning har visat att uppfattningen av textur kan förändra ett objekts syfte och funktion.

Research question: How does the industrial company Scania work to get more women in leadership positions?Purpose: The purpose of this work is to describe how companies in a male-dominated industry can work to get a higher share of female leaders.Method: This survey was based on a deductive approach with a qualitative method. Theories have been obtained primarily from scientific articles and the empirical part has been collected through interviews from the companies Wiminvest and Scania.Conclusion: The conclusions the study came up with was different elements that companies in male-dominated industries can work with to get a higher share of female leaders. The first thing that companies can do is to join the project BON or similar projects to work on this issue. They can work with workshops and lectures to disseminate knowledge about the topic.

An investigation of the heat impact of laser cutting on the material properties when producing tensile and impact test specimens of different steel types of varying thickness has been performed. The purpose of the thesis project was to provide recommendations regarding how much material that needs to be milled from the laser cut edge before tensile and impact tests. The study has been performed partly by investigating the test specimens by heat camera when the specimens were cut in the laser cutting line and partly by performing hardness tests, investigation by microscopy, and tolerance and roughness measurements and tensile tests of the laser cut material and material produced in the traditional multi operation machine. The results show that the heat affected zone in the thicker materials is greater than previously thought of, and that the currently used recommendation has to be adjusted. The study clearly shows that the thicker the material, the greater the heat affected zone, independently of the steel type, since the thicker material takes longer time to cut.

Young stands in urban forests often lack a shrub layer, though shrubs play an important structural and biological role in forests. All layers interact with one another to form a multilayered stand, in which shrubs have a vital role.In this diploma thesis, theoretical models for forest dynamics are compared with four reference stands to detect factors, and principals for introduction of shrubs in young stands. In these stands four different ways of introduction were found. In one trees and shrubs were planted together at the same time. Shrubs spontaneous spread under a canopy of mature forest, in another.

Syftet med denna studie är att ta reda på hur och varför lärare använder laborativt arbetssätt i matematikundervisningen i skolår 3 samt lärarnas uppfattning om hur det förebygger elevers matematiksvårigheter. Studien inkluderar även elevers inställning till laborativt material. Motivet till valet av detta ämne är utifrån våra VFT (verksamhetsförlagd tid) erfarenheter där enskild tyst räkning dominerade matematikundervisningen och laborativt material användes som sysselsättning. Litteraturen inom området förespråkar arbete med laborativt material under hela skolgången för betydelse för elevernas förståelse i matematik och att läraren har en avgörande roll gällande konkretisering av den abstrakta matematiken. En stor del av forskningen har visat att elever som arbetar med laborativt material i matematik presterar bättre än elever som inte gör det. I undersökningen har vi använt oss av två kvalitativa undersökningsmetoder, intervju och observation.

The first law in Sweden containing an act of legal deposit is from 1661. Since then the printing-houses are supposed to deliver all printed material to the Royal Library and other recipient libraries. Today, more and more information is solely published electronically. This material is not yet included in the law of legal deposit. In a similar way as our printed cultural heritage is saved for posterity our electronic cultural heritage has to be saved.

An important task for project managers in multi-project environments is to effectively choose the right people to the project team. For organizations, it means being able to prioritize and plan human resources among the various projects running in parallel. The purpose of this paper is to describe how a project manager in multi-project environments looks at the allocation of people in their projects. We did our research through literature reviews and interviews with seven project managers.The research shows that the studied organizations highlight both the expertise and the personal factors in an election. They do not use any specific personality test to identify their staff.

Detta examensarbete visar resultatet av en undersökning om hur språklärare i engelska, franska och tyska på gymnasieskolan använder sig av autentiskt material i undervisningen och hur de tror att detta påverkar eleverna.En kvalitativ forskningsmetod har använts och därefter har resultaten analyserats med ad hoc-metoden.Resultaten visade att nästan samtliga lärare blandade läroböcker och autentiskt material i sin undervisning för att ge variation. Den främsta anledningen till detta var att lärarna upplever att elevernas motivation ökar dåundervisningen varieras och om eleverna kan se en viss verklighetsanknytning. Vissa skillnader mellan språken påvisades, då engelsklärarna i större grad uppgav att de använde autentiskt material i undervisningen. Lärare ityska och franska menade oftare att brist på material och elevernas kunskapsnivå förhindrade arbetet med autentiskt material. This final year project is made for Peab Jönköping and its target group is the construction industry. The main focus is the use of unutilized building material in the most economical and environmental-friendly way. Unutilized building material is here defined as material purchased for a construction project that for different reasons not has been used. The most important thing to find out was how much building material considered as being waste is actually useable material, and how much less it costs to use that building material instead of throwing it away.When this information was gathered a proposal on how to efficiently use the unutilized building material instead of wasting it was designed. Costs and incomes were investigated and the proposal suggested a storage area where Peab can store their unused building material.

Structural factors and life conditions contribute to health inequality both within and between countries. Health inequality can be seen between different social groups, which can be the cause of differences in living conditions, health behavior and disease vulnerability. The theologian Sarah Coakley has developed a theological method, which she calls théologie totale.This essay examines the methodological criteria for this method. The impact of computer programs in safety-critical systems has increased in the past decades and computer-based systems can now be found in a wide range of applications. A new approach for developing dependable systems is documenting all design rationale that affects safety using Intent Specifications. A recent approach for developing complex systems efficiently and in an upgradeable manner is Component-Based System Engineering. In this thesis, these approaches are combined in the development and upgrade of a Remote Robot Control Unit by using the tool SpecTRM. The case study showed that Intent Specifications and CBSE could successfully be combined.

The present study examines a new production line of glue-laminated wood (glulam). The glulam is produced from non-planed boards of spruce, which also is convex, that is pressed together with high pressure during the gluing. According to a economic calculation, the material has a economical potential mainly on account of the absent planning. The study mainly found out that the shear strength of the material tolerated the demanded values in standard SS-EN 386, but the delaminating values did not.
