In this qualitative study of students? methods of calculating subtractions, I have used interviews, subtraction exercises and analysis of teaching material. The purpose of my study was to explore which methods students in grade three uses when calculating subtractions. I also wanted to highlight which strategies the students use and their comprehension of the concept of subtraction. In the study, I also highlight the different pedagogical ideas on which the teaching material is based on and the students? choice of methods.  The study shows that the students choose to use the methods?deduct? and ?kind of number? independently.

The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to present a survey of how Swedish libraries provide information services for children. In this thesis ?information? means non-fiction material and ?children? do not include preschool children. The method used is knowledge overview and the material (mostly Master theses in LIS published January 2001-June 2006) is related to user studies of children as information seekers.

Handling materials and packaging, which is the focus of this study, requires efficient logistics, both internally and between companies. To achieve an efficient Material flow, good information systems, whose role is to collect, store, process and distribute information, are required. The assumption that packagings are handled in an efficient manner is currently not a matter of course, when many companies do not prioritize the internal management of the package.The purpose of this report was to investigate how medium-sized businesses working with distribution and handling of spare parts packaging can improve their internal management of packaging. In order to answer the purpose, we have used an abductive process and a qualitative data collection. The study had Logistic Center Ljungby (LCL) at Electrolux Laundry Systems (ELS) as a case company and two other respondents, Nibe in Markaryd and Enertech in Ljungby.

Att använda laborativt material ger eleverna möjlighet att uttrycka sina kunskaper på ett annat sätt än i ett traditionellt arbetssätt. Det laborativa materialet är av stor betydelse då eleverna på olika sätt kan uttrycka kunskap med hjälp av materialet. Detta är en aktionsforskningsstudie gjord på två skolor i södra Sverige. Syftet med studien är att bidra med kunskap om hur elevers förmågor i matematik kan synliggöras för bedömning. Syftet växte fram genom det utvecklingsbehov som identifierades på våra VFU-skolor.

No matter what subject or which grade you are active in, the teachers in Sweden have incommon that they are provided with governing documents that states the guidelines and goalsregarding each subject. Along with these governing documents every teacher has to findmaterial that will be used as the foundation of the teaching. This thesis is a study of howSwedish history teachers define what material they are going to use in their teaching, andwhich the factors are that is affecting these choices. The question whether a child?s ethnicaland cultural background is a factor that affects this choice of material is concerned, as well aswhat is current in Sweden and the world.

Because of new emission and on board diagnostics legislations, heavy truck manufacturers are facing new challenges when it comes to improving the engines and the control software. Accurate and real time executable engine models are essential in this work. One successful way of lowering the NOx emissions is to use Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR). The objective of this thesis is to create a mean value model for Scania's next generation EGR system consisting of a poppet valve and a two stage cooler. The model will be used to extend an existing mean value engine model.

Abstract The purpose of this degree project is to examine what impact working with physical objects has on children?s learning process concerning addition. We want to explore what addition strategies can be exercised using the game ?Twice as much?. We have observed children in school year 1.

During pulp and papermaking process a huge amount of water is used. The wastewater contains a large amount of pollutants and has to be treated before it reaches the recipient. In March 2004 a new bleaching plant was started up at SCA Graphic Sundsvall AB, Ortviken?s paper mill using peroxide. The production of bleached thermo mechanical pulp and thus the load to the wastewater plant increased.

A pavement construction designed to cope with the different type of traffic loads; it is exposed to and at the same time it can resist the effect of the climate. A road structure consists of sub- and superstructure which is divided by a boundary known as terrace. During the construction of unbound layers (base course and sub-base course) in the superstructure, it is always ensured that the material meet the requirements for bearing capacity and the degree of compaction. These parameters are controlled by various laboratory tests and control methods. To obtain increased knowledge of the material and improve the quality of the compaction in the field, it is necessary to perform laboratory tests in order to determine material properties.A base course material 0/ 32 mm limestone from Gotland (Hejdeby) was investigated in this study.

Denna undersökning belyser materialet, dess placering och användning i förskolan. Studien är genomförd ur ett lärarperspektiv för att ge en förståelse hur material bör placeras för att ge barnen i förskolan tillgång till det material som finns där. Vidare undersöker studien pedagogernas användning av materialet i arbetet med barnen i förskolan och pedagogers uppfattning om dess placering och tillgänglighet. Syftet har varit att undersöka hur pedagoger i arbetet med barnen använder materialet i förskolan och hur det är placerat. Vidare har syftet varit att undersöka om det finns idéer kring materialets placering och om dessa har diskuterats bland pedagogerna. Som metod för denna undersökning har intervjuer av ett arbetslag använts som underlag. Detta för att se om idéer kring materialets betydelse förekommer hos pedagogerna och för att undersöka hur det placeras. En slutsats av undersökningen visar att en viss diskussion kring materialet och dess placering verkar förekomma hos pedagogerna sinsemellan.

In connection with the admittance of the EC-directive (99/31/EC) in Swedish politic, through the constitution of waste depositing (2001:512) at year 2001, the rules about management the landfills and leachates tightened. At the landfill Vissberga in the municipality of Hallsberg, a leachate treatment plant was constructed just a year thereafter. This treatment plant consisted of an aerated pond with a following land treatment and a willow cultivation to replace the land treatment during the summer. In this case the parameters, which were estimated as the most important to reduce, were iron and nitrogen. The iron would react with the oxygen-rich water in the aerated pond and precipitate to ferric-hydroxide and than settle in a calm zone of the pond.

Examensarbetet Förskolegården ? möjligheter, begränsningar och platser, har som syfte att belysa frågorna: Vad väljer barnen att göra på förskolegården? Vilka möjligheter finns på förskolegården? Vilka begränsningar finns på förskolegården? och Vilka är barnens platser på förskolegården? Som hjälp för att belysa dessa frågor har observationer och barnsamtal genomförts på en förskola. Resultatet visar att barnen är sysselsatta på olika sätt, på förskolegården men med en stor övervikt av fysiska aktiviteter som att springa och klättra. Andra intressanta aktiviteter som resultatet visar är hur barn använder och manipulerar material. Möjligheter och begränsningar vi såg i resultatet handlar om regler, förskollärares förhållningssätt och tillgång till material samt gårdens utformning. På grund av förskolegårdens tillgång till naturmaterial var visst material, såsom ekollon och pinnar, alltid tillgängligt.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how a children's book is suggested to be prepared in order to be accepted for publication by a publishing house in Sweden today.My questions was first to clarify the concept of a "children's book". Secondly, to understand if there are any guidelines to follow regarding the design and illustration of a children´s book, and how to proceed with the best chances of getting a mauscript published.To answer the question, I have chosen to use a qualitative method containing questionnaire items involving eleven Swedish publishers of children's literature.My results show that children's books includes all literature that has an target audience of people between 0-18 years of age. The most important thing is that the book's material is appropriate to the target group's level of mental perceptions and emotional competence. The material which then is submitted to the publisher will need to be of the highest quality and the author must investigate a consistent niche in order to submit the material to a publisher..
