Developments in milk production are heading towards fewer but larger herds where the milking process is often fully automated. Automatic milking systems were launched in the 1990?s and in the year 2010 the Automatic Milking Rotary (AMR) was introduced. As a rule there are no supervision personnel present during the milking event in systems with automatic milking. This means that there is a risk that cows can be incompletely milked in one or more udder quarters, for example if the robots fail in attaching the milking cups or if the cow kicks off the milking unit.

Intronerna, vilka utgör utrymmet mellan exoner, består av ickekodande sekvenser och kontrollelement. Exoner tillhörande en gen måste inte alltid inkluderas i den slutliga mRNA produkten, alternativ splicing tillåter exkludering av vissa sekvenser och gör att en gen kan ha mer än en mRNA produkt, därigenom kan en gen koda för flera olika proteiner. Alternativ splicing är ett fält som snabbt utvecklas och dess relevans för många sjukdomar har blivit uppenbar. Detta arbete går igenom ett flertal av dessa sjukdomar för att sammanställa ny forskning och tydliggöra rollen av alternativ splicing i dem.

When different type of programs are developed one wants to make these adjustable to future changes and requirements. It must be done a good design of the program from the beginning to make it possible to continue development of it without having to redo big parts of it to high costs. In the area of object orientation there are design pattern, which can be used to design systems that can be adjusted to new changes in an easier way. I have in this thesis chosen to take a closer look at how to design a program that sends SMS to cell phones through a system of an operator. One requirement on the program is that it has to be possible to change what operator to send though in an easy way.

Ella Mathematics is a web portal that will completely replace the printed math text book in the Swedish elementary school. When the math education is moved in to the digital world the flexibility and adaptability will increase.In 2011 the Swedish government revised the Swedish school system, which contained a whole new curriculum for the elementary school math education. This has been the foundation for the development of Ella Mathematics and the design of the three different users; student, teacher and parent. The development has been done with Dynamic Product Development methods from the project start in September 2011 until the final exam in May 2012.Ella Mathematics has been developed with the pupil?s math knowledge in focus.

The genus Borrelia is a widespread, pathogenic pest and the causative of among others borreliosis or Lyme disease. The vector for the bacteria is the hard tick, Ixodes ricinus and the infection is transferred through a bite. Untreated, Borrelia may cause arthritis, heart damage or neuroborreliosis. Infection is made possible through different strategies for avoiding the body?s complement system.

Solar energy is the one most talked about among energy sources due to its huge potential amongst renewable energy technologies. A greater use of the solar energy may be the solution to today's climate threats. Normally there are two different types of solar technologies, solar cells and solar thermal collectors. Solar cells convert solar energy in to electricity whilst solar thermal collectors convert solar energy into heat, which can be used to heat hot water for households. This goal of this study has been to investigate the possibility of implementing solar energy into the energy system of Kista Galleria, one of Sweden's foremost venues.

The research in the field of biotechnology is rapidly developing all over the world. Modern biotechnology offers unique opportunities, simultaneously as it gives rise to a number of ethical issues. Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), PGD/HLA (Human Leucocyte Antigen) and germline gene therapy (GLGT) are controversial techniques. PGD gives a possibility to identify a genetic disease prior to the embryo?s implantation in the uterus.

Uppsatsen avser att studera hur geografisk platskänsla spelar in vid olika kategorier av brott. Även undersöks om personer vid lagbrott använder sig av sin vardagsgeografi samt om känslan för rummet och platsen skiljer sig nämnvärt mellan emotionella brott det vill säga brott där känslor ligger till grund (våldtäkt, pyromani etc.), instrumentella brott (inbrott) och instrumentella nätverksbrott (smuggling, langning etc.).Ausonius attentat i Stockholm (1991 till 1992) har använts samt Niklas Lindgrens överfallsserie i Umeå som sträckte sig över 8 års tid. Två personer ombads att utföra en fiktiv brottserie med instrumentella brott (rån och inbrott). Även har en förfrågan skickats ut till KRIS (Kriminellas Revansch I Samhället) om distanser till och från brottsplaster samt känslor inför dessa. Denna förfrågan har även de fiktiva brottslingarna svarat på.Insamling och sammanställning av materialet har pekat på att för emotionella överfallsbrott och instrumentella brott lönar det sig att känna till kopplingen mellan gärningsman och hans/hennes geografi.

This thesis work resulted in a template for how the thermal spray process can be controlled through robot programs. The robots today and their programs need to be replaced, therefore a new structure which can be matched with the new robot systems is needed. The work is limited to only concern structured programming on the new robots on Thermal Spray Centre (TC) with the programming language Rapid. The basic data for the program was retrieved from interviews with concerned personnel at TC, from studies on process parameters for thermal spray and from existing specifications at Volvo Aero Corporation (VAC). The thesis work briefly describes the process thermal spray and the four methods used at VAC.

Osteoartrit (OA) är den vanligaste orsaken till för tidig pension av tävlingshästar och är den sjukdom som står för den enskilt största ekonomiska förlusten inom hästnäringen. Diagnostiken är svår i ett tidigt skede vilket gör att man vill hitta bra markörer och inflammationsmediatorer som kan användas för att snabbt ställa rätt diagnos samt sätta in lämplig behandling. Sedan början av 2000-talet har man i prekliniska studier på gnagare och människor tittat på den pro-inflammatoriska cytokinen high mobility group box protein-1 (HMGB-1) och dess inblandning i inflammationen vid artrit. De senaste åren har det även kommit studier på häst. Det här arbetet går igenom resultatet av dessa studier för att kunna diskutera vilken roll HMGB-1 spelar vid OA, dess lämplighet som markör för sjukdomen och huruvida en inhibering av HMGB-1 skulle kunna användas som en framtida behandlingsmetod. HMGB-1 är ett litet intracellulärt protein som finns i nästan alla celler hos vertebrater, bakterier, växter samt jäst.

Hematology-instruments that analyze blood cells can at specific cases be followed by manual counting with a hemocytometer. The plastic hemocytometer which has a fixed coverslip and is assigned for disposable use, appears to reduce the problems arising from the use of the traditional glass hemocytometer, for instance coverslip-application difficulty and dust particles. Capillary whole blood sampling may be useful for patients at the emergency department and in addition, a smaller volume of blood is taken compared to venous blood sampling. This study will focus on the platelet- and leukocyte count (PLT and WBC) in venous and capillary blood, in order to compare the plastic- and glass hemocytometers with Sysmex XN-2000 (Sysmex Corporation, Kobe, Japan), and verify if capillary whole blood sampling can be used for the measurement of these hematological parameters. 30 subjects donated both capillary- and venous blood samples and these blood samples were analyzed with glass- and plastic hemocytometers with Sysmex XN-2000 as the reference method.

När rumsligt omvälvande projekt skall genomföras är det ofta konsekvenserna för naturmiljö, kulturmiljö, estetiska miljöaspekter som ger upphov till diskussioner. Uppförandet av telemaster till mobiltelefonsystemet 3G är ett infrastrukturprojekt som kommer att vara visuellt påtagliga på många platser i landskapet. I Sverige uppförs två stycken parallella mastsystem och detta har givit upphov till diskussioner kring projektets påverkan på vår omgivning. Uppsatsen studerar hur miljöpåverkan från ett stort infrastrukturprojekt, uppförandet av telemaster för 3G-systemet, behandlats av länsstyrelsen i samrådsärenden enligt 12 kapitlet 6§ miljöbalken, samt diskuterar kring hur handläggare på länsstyrelsen hanterar och upplever dessa ärenden. Studien visar att handläggare på de undersökta länsstyrelserna har begränsat mandat att minska antalet master genom samlokalisering.

I följande rapport behandlas ämnet förnyelsebar energi i samband med textila material. I resultatet ges förslag till möjliga tillvägagångssätt för integrering av flexibla solceller i väv- och varptrikå. Alternativ till maskintillverkare och maskintyper redovisas och potentiella användningsområden diskuteras. Även förlag på typ av flexibel solcell presenteras. Teorin vilket rapporten grundar sig på är humanekologisk.

Castration of dogs holds many reasons and opinions, therefore methods, traditions and rea-sons vary. The approaches have during time changed from mostly surgical castrations to also including hormonal treatments. Castration is used to control the dog's reproductive abilities, for medical reasons and to possibly rectify problems of behavioral nature. How common a particular method of castration is in a country is highly dependent on the country's traditions. In Sweden it is most common with castration for medical reasons, such as possible elimina-tion of diseases, for example, benign colorectal tumors.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att med hjälp av en samling befintliga metoder och teorier studera de frivilligt publicerade miljöredovisningarna inom sulfatmassabranschen i Sverige. De företag som studien baseras på är Stora Enso AB, SCA AB, Södra Cell AB och Rottneros AB. Länsstyrelsen och den kommunala miljö- och hälsoskyddsnämnden, med hjälp av miljöskyddslagstiftningen, var de första som aktivt ställde krav på många företag att ta miljöfrågorna på allvar. Företag i Sverige som bedriver verksamhet och som behöver tillstånd enligt miljöbalken har i flera år varit skyldiga att lämna in en miljörapport till tillsynsmyndigheterna. Det finns idag ett stort antal internationellt publicerade riktlinjer och modeller för extern miljöredovisning.
