Solenergisystem i Kista Galleria

Solar energy is the one most talked about among energy sources due to its huge potential amongst renewable energy technologies. A greater use of the solar energy may be the solution to today's climate threats. Normally there are two different types of solar technologies, solar cells and solar thermal collectors. Solar cells convert solar energy in to electricity whilst solar thermal collectors convert solar energy into heat, which can be used to heat hot water for households. This goal of this study has been to investigate the possibility of implementing solar energy into the energy system of Kista Galleria, one of Sweden's foremost venues. This project has been carried out to investigate whether it is profitable to invest in a solar energy system, and if so, what type of system. Solar energy can also successfully be used as a marketing tool to attract more customers to the mall. In the calculations, both the cost and energy production of solar thermal collectors and solar cells has been taken into account, in regard to the technical conditions of Kista Galleria. Both technical and an economic analysis have been made. Furthermore, a sensitivity analysis with changes in various parameters has been made, to test the durability of the profitability. According to the results, solar cells are more profitable than solar thermal collectors. The most profitable choice is the monocrystalline solar cell. In the sensitivity analysis the parameters cost of capital, energy price, energy price increase, costs and produced energy has been altered. The solar thermal collectors are very sensitive for changes of the parameters in the model while the solar cells stay profitable despite changes.
