The aim of the study was to explore the methods used in horticultural therapy gardens in rehabilitating people suffering from fatigue syndrome. Nine horticultural therapy gardens were contacted of wich three chose to participate. Using case study as method e-mail interviews was carried out with the participants about their establishment and what kind of theories they based their methods upon. The material collected from the interviews was complemented with additional data from the establishments web pages and information pamphlets. Collected data was processed trough content analysis and then formed as background for the development of a program theory for horticultural therapy.

The aim of this study was, that from a view of professional's understand the meanings of including horses in therapy. In order to achieve the aim of the study, qualitative method was used and therewith interviews was performed with professionals who work with equine- assisted therapy. The professionals did also have an education which allowed them to independently treat clients and besides that at least five years of experience of equine- assisted therapy. The issues of the study was to understand the professionals? view of the horses role in equine-assisted therapy, which opportunities and constraints professionals consider that equine-assisted therapy entails and also if the horse could bring something unique to therapy.

Smärta är ett symtom som sjuksköterskan kontinuerligt möter och patientens smärta bör tas på allvar. Smärta är patientens subjektiva upplevelse. Komplementära och alternativa metoder är termen på mer än 1800 olika behandlingar vilka kompletterar den vanliga sjukvården och kan ges som ett tillägg till en annan behandling. Syftet med denna studie var att belysa effekter av och patienters attityder till massage, yoga, KBT och musik som behandling för långvarig smärta. Studien var en systematisk litteraturstudie som inkluderade 19 resultatartiklar som kritiskt granskades.

Musikalisk prestationsångest (MPA) är ett vanligt förekommande problem bland musiker och kan i vissa fall omöjliggöra en karriär som musiker. Syftet med föreliggande studie var att utvärdera en 5 sessioners behandling med Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) för MPA. Resultatet är lovande, 7 av 8 deltagare fullföljde behandlingen och flera deltagare fick förbättringar på såväl ACT-relaterade mått som på mått för MPA. Resultatet motiverar vidare forskning om ACT för MPA..

Syftet med arbetet är att undersöka vilken effekt massage har på skolbarn med sekundära koncentrationssvårigheter. Undersökningen bygger på observationer av en grundskoleklass med 23 elever i åk 5 med särskilt fokus på fem utvalda elever som alla visat tecken på sekundära koncentrationssvårigheter. Även enskilda intervjuer med de fem eleverna förekommer liksom en intervju med deras klassföreståndare. Observationer genomfördes enligt ett framtaget observationsschema före och efter en fyra veckor lång period där samtliga elever i klassen gav varandra daglig massage. Under dessa dagliga massagepass genomfördes dessutom observationer med hjälp av anteckningar.

Cancer is one of the most feared diseases in veterinary medicine today, and the incidence is higher than ever due to the fact that our companion animals live longer then they did ten to twenty years ago. Cancer is also one of the most common causes of mortality in older companion animals. This literature review will be about two of the currently most common form of cancer treatment of companion animals in Swedish animal hospitals, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. There will also be a section of general nursing care for cancer patients. The section of chemotherapy will describe the indications for choosing chemotherapy, the way to administrate chemotherapeutic drugs, describe specific chemotherapeutic drugs, potential side effects of chemotherapy, and how to handle and store chemotherapeutic drugs safely. The section of radiation therapy will describe the current devices for delivering radiation therapy, describe the indications for choosing radiation therapy and describe potential side effects that radiation therapy may cause.

The main objective of this study was to investigate the possible design of a horticultural therapy program in Swedish correctional treatment facilities. In the USA the use of horticultural therapy in offender rehabilitation is much more frequent compared with Sweden. The aim of these programs typically contains education for inmates. Research has been made indicating that these programs can have positive effects on psychosocial behavior and on vulnerability to substance abuse among incarcerated offenders. In this study the examples of these programs was categorized and analyzed from three perspectives; Vocational, social and therapeutic horticultural programs.

The main purpose of this examination paper has been to do a review of recent scientific and evaluated studies performed on children 0-15 years of age, treated with an animal as an assistant to the therapist/professional. The key term is Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT). Our focus has been to describe in what fields these kinds of studies have been performed, what the results are and how effective they have been. As a supplement to our study we have performed 8 short telephone interviews with professionals in the same field of occupation corresponding to the studies we have summarized. Our results concerning the studies show that there has been a positive outcome in the treatment of children and adolescents and AAT.

IntroduktionTaktil massage och beröring börjar på flera håll i landet användas som enomvårdnadshandling, vilket upplevs som positivt av både patient och vårdare. Huruvida detär beröringen eller närheten som ger de goda effekterna är inte bevisat.SyfteSyftet var att belysa betydelsen av taktil massage och beröring som en del avomvårdnadsarbetet.MetodDetta är en litteraturstudie, baserad på 12 vetenskapliga artiklar sökta via databaserna Cinahloch PubMed samt via manuell sökning.ResultatPatienten upplever sig sedd och bekräftad, finner lugn och ro samt får en ökad livskvalitetvia beröring. Dessutom främjar beröring en god relation mellan patienten och vårdaren.Vårdaren måste få stöd från kollegorna för att kunna ta sig tid att ge beröring.DiskussionResultatet från vår studie stämmer väl överens med bakgrund och tidigare forskning. Vihävdar dock att fortsatt forskning bör ske för att se om det är beröringen eller närheten somger de goda resultaten på välbefinnandet..

Syftet med vårt arbete var att undersöka vilka faktorer som leder till stress hos barn samt hur vi som pedagoger kan förebygga och aktivt arbeta mot stress i skolan. Under vår praktik har vi lagt in momentet massage i undervisningen. Detta för att med hjälp av intervjuer ta reda på hurvida eleverna upplevde sig mindre stressade. Vi intervjuade åtta elever, fyra pojkar och fyra flickor om deras upplevelser av massagen. Vi genomförde även tre intervjuer med lärare på skolan för att ta del av deras syn på barn och stress.

There is strong evidence that cognitive-behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) is effective. The aim of this study was to compare 7 group-sessions of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy for insomnia (MBCT-I) with 3 group-sessions of CBT-I, on sleep measures and sleep related psychological processes, such as pre-sleep arousal, thought control strategies and mindfulness. Participants (N = 44; age 18-66) with long term insomnia were stratified and randomized into waiting list, MBCT-I and CBT-I. Significant improvements were seen in both groups, compared to waiting list, for instance on insomnia severity, sleep latency and restorative sleep. Small improvements on psychological processes were also found in both groups.
