An investigation about e-commerce integrated with shopping mall ? How can a shopping mall integrate e-commerce?

The shopping mall branch has estimated that the turnover of e-commerce will double within the upcoming ten years (NSCS, 2013). The growth can thus stop for shopping Malls and there is a risk that some shopping Malls end up being "dead-Malls", completely losing their turnover. The thesis starts off with presenting the background for the factors of trade, i.e. e-commerce and shopping Malls. This is followed by a presentation of which integration possibilities there are in Sweden today and by examples from the British market. Thereafter follows a section on integration possibilities that shopping Malls can use in order to integrate e-commerce instead of regarding it as a threat. This can be done in several ways, e.g.

Standardisering och upplevelser i globaliseringens spår: Vad betyder utvecklingen för galleriorna

Some theorist, like George Ritzer and Max Weber, claim that everything has its optimal process and that all companies therefore will strive towards standardization. Researchers like Paco Underhill and Pine & Gilmore on the other hand, claim that an increasingly global competition forces businesses to focus more on consumer demands, experiences and differentiation. This thesis challenges these statements with empirical data by looking at shopping Malls and their strategies as well as consumer preferences. It arrives at the conclusion that output is primarily driven by customer demand, and that consumers value a certain part of predictability..

Se inte ner på golvmarknadsföring! - En kvantitativ studie om effekter av golvmarknadsföring i köpcentrummiljöer

Shopping Malls have been growing in numbers during the last few decades. As an effect, consumers are increasingly placing a greater amount of their purchases under one roof. The problem is that stores within these Malls have to fight for the consumers' attention in competition with all the other stores. Thus, making consumers noticing their store is critical for success. Creating attention through floor advertising could be a potential way of doing so.

Rörelsemönstrets betydelse : Att öka attraktiviteten i en galleria med Space syntax

The functional connection between the building and the streetscape affects the city and its attractiveness. Stores located in shopping Malls with their entrances facing internal walkways, creates segregation between the mall and the streetscape. This segregation implies that the shopping mall loses some of its attractiveness, which may result in a so-called Greyfield mall. The expression Greyfield mall is used for shopping Malls that have lost its visitors. Competition from new modern Malls and a lack of investments are examples of factors that influence the development of Greyfiled Malls.

För centrumhandeln i tiden

Background: It has been a common perception in the media in recent years that external shopping Malls extinguish the trade in Swedish downtown areas. Factors that promote external shopping Malls are that customers become more and more indolent and more people buy cars. Despite this fact, downtown areas have a great deal to offer when it comes to creating a pleasant atmosphere. Furthermore, customers are becoming more demanding and want something extra while doing their shopping. More and more shopkeepers therefore realize the importance of events as an instrument to offer experiences to the customers.Purpose: To investigate whether shopkeepers in downtown Linköping consider the external shopping mall in Tornby a competitor or not and, if so, in what ways the trade in the downtown area has been affected by Tornby.

Stadskampen om kunderna ? En studie om värdeskapande i handelsplatser

We have chosen to focus on how inner city centers can compete with external shopping Malls by examining what values consumers find essential in shopping areas. The development within the retail market with more external Malls outside cities has resulted in impoverished city centers; therefore, new strategies towards more attractive servicescapes in the inner city are crucial. The study is based on a qualitative approach due to deeper understanding and closeness to the subject, where Kalmar city is chosen as a case. We have completed a focus group study where respondents from each target group where represented.

Urbana utväxter : konsumtionskoncentrat

The shopping mall is a reflection of the city and its habitants, a concentrate of the modern city. I have studied the dialogues of Malls and the communication within, how Malls are put together and what they communicate. The city is constantly changing. As soon as we try to grasp the city, it slips away. My opinion is that city planners and landscape architects need to widen their views. City planning needs to develop to better fit to the changes of our modern cities.

Biblioteket i centrum : Ett utvecklingsprojekt för bibliotek och landsbygd

The structure of the Swedish public library field has been evolving during the last decades. The traditional mission of educating the citizens to become responsible, democratic and knowledgeable members of society has in a way led to the integration between public and school libraries. Lately new co-operational models have been under debate and a sense of resistance has arisen because of the economical and market influences. In parallel with closure of library branches new libraries have evolved in Malls and wash houses and some with self-service with no use of librarians. This work shows how co-operation in rural areas finds the common goals for the people living there who are concerned about keeping the service needed including the public library and thus using existing means and crossing borders of commercial thinking.
