The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to evaluate three general query-based web search engines. The search engines chosen are Google, Yahoo! and Live Search. The topics, which where transformed into twenty queries, are based on real users? information needs, taken from an ask-a-question service.

The implementation of integration policy has in recent times been a major problem for the municipal administrations in Swedish municipalities. The concept of integration is considered to be very diffuse, difficult to apply and implement the following decisions. To understand the concept of integration is the first step, followed by understanding its complexity in an organization.In this study, I focus on studying the implementation of integration policies for integration work with Kalmar Municipality as a case study. I am using Lundquist's implementation theory about understanding, able and willing. The survey consists primarily of interviews but also a certain document to get a perspective on how integration policy has gone into integration work with the hypothesis that it is the understanding that weaknesses of the officials in the implementation of integration policies.

Studies in Sweden have shown that the districtnurses had no time for health promotion. The Swedish government also indicate that there is a lack of health promotion and preventive care in Sweden. The purpose of this study was to describe into which extent the districtnurses in the middle and southwest area of Region Skåne worked with preventive care in their profession and into which extent they documented their achievement. The inquiry was answered by 45 districtnurses about background, present situation, preventive care, secondary prevention, tertiary prevention, health promotion and documentation. Results of this study shows that the districtnurses worked mostly with tertiary prevention.

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the needs of pre-commercial thinning on private owned forest properties, which is considered to be increasing. The reason is believed to be the high cost of labor that pre-commercial thinning brings. Furthermore thinning is costly, the revenue created through pre-commercial thinning are post-poned until the first thinning. The study was made through a survey among members of Mellanskog forest owners association. The survey was distributed by e-mail. The time to answer was set to two weeks. The answers indicate that the most common reason why the pre-commercial thinning is delayed, or not done at all, is the forest owner?s lack of time.

Det finns en del i årsredovisningen som inte är lagstadgad, den benämns frivillig information. Omfattning och val av vilken frivillig information som företag väljer att redovisa beror till stor del på vilken redovisningsstrategi som företaget tillämpar.Syftet med uppsatsen är att beskriva och analysera vilken redovisningsstrategi som svenska aktiebolag noterade på Stockholmsbörsen tillämpar, när de redovisar frivillig information i årsredovisningen. Vidare är syftet att undersöka vad som påverkar val och utformning av redovisningsstrategi, vi utreder huruvida anlitad revisionsbyrå är en förklarande variabel, samt om det finns andra aktörer och faktorer som påverkar.Vi har undersökt variablerna; anställda, kreditgivare, aktieägare, andra företag noterade på Stockholmsbörsen, branschkollegor, anlitad revisor och Vd/företagsledning, för att utreda om dessa aktörer och faktorer påverkar valet.Både en kvantitativ och kvalitativ metod har använts för att uppfylla uppsatsens syfte. Genom en enkät, via e-mail, till företagen i vårt urval, har vi undersökt i vilken utsträckning de olika variablerna påverkar samt huruvida det leder till att en viss redovisningsstrategi tillämpas.

Processing information in complex everyday life recruites different abilities than limited storage capacity. Working memory, the central executive and inhibition are constructs that have been used to describe this ability of adaptation. This paper investigates the connection between working memory capacity and performances in tasks closely associated to real life situations, i. e. verbal fluency tasks.

The aim of this master thesis has been to investigate discussions about public access to Internet in public libraries. Areas of interest were the debate in Sweden as well as in the United States. The approach was qualitative and questionnaires were distributed by e-mail to a number of Swedish public libraries. The results from the survey were then supplemented with a theoretical background and a literature study. The usable questionnaires obtained from 20 libraries showed a rather uniform approach among the Swedish librarians of how the Internet is best provided by public libraries.

This thesis considers the problems associated with searches in insufficiently geographically tagged data. The thesis was carried out at Booli Search Technologies AB, a company developing a search engine for the Swedish real estate market.The aim of the thesis is to identify some areas of possible improvements of the company?s existing technical platform, perform a benchmarking among similar services, suggest possible solutions and lastly, build a prototype from one of the suggested solutions.The thesis starts out with defining the problems that the search engine faces: some areas are not possible to perform searches on, the users are not presented with the full search result that they expect, some results are placed incorrectly on the map associated with the search results and results are also not described with enough geographical information. These problems are due to the fact that the data retrieved at the indexing stage in the company?s information retrieval process are insufficient and incomplete.As a result of a benchmarking process and after discussing the results, severalinteresting solutions were identified.

Men hanteringen av interna dokument som kan ses som en verksamhets digitala minne med instruktioner kring hur uppgifter ska utföras eller hur personal bör gå tillväga i svåra situationer är något som inte fått uppmärksamhet i relation till dess värde. Intern dokumentation behöver undersökas för att få ut så mycket som möjligt av dokumentens potential att understödja affärskritiska verksamheter. Den här studien har undersökt dokumenthantering i en kommunal verksamheten för öka förståelsen för hur den fungerar och komma med förslag på hur dokumenthanteringen kan förbättras. Under studien har det identifierats lösningar till problem som kan finnas i flertalet verksamheter som leder till att tid och därmed pengar kan sparas inom verksamheter idag..

The aim of this study is to investigate a specific form of Special Interest Tourism (SIT), namely health- and fitnesstravels. This kind of travelling is studied from a Swedish perspective and includes aspects like gender and age in active tourism. It also includes which travel motivations that lies beyond the choice of an active vacation.The study is based on a survey that was sent in an e-mail to the health tourism company InShapeTravel´s customers. The answers to the survey has been analyzed and related to earlier research about active tourism.The result shows that more women than men participate in the kind of healthy travels that InShapeTravel offers. A majority of the respondents are between 41-60 years old and the most common travel motivation was ?Better physic/psychic wellbeing?. .
