The objective of this thesis was to study how parents of adult drug addicts experience their contact with the social welfare office, what elements affected the parents degree of satisfaction with the contact with the social welfare office, and whether the contact meant any help for them. The aim of this study is to better understand the Swedish concept of ?förebyggande socialt arbete?, preventive social work. I have conducted eleven qualitative interviews with different key persons and skaters, together with participant observation. During the process of analyzing the material I have used Randall CollinsŽ concepts of interaction ritual chains together with Jean Laves and Etienne Wengers concept of situated learning. The answers could be split up in three areas, first those who regard prevention work as building good things for the future.

Syftet med min forskning var att undersöka fritidspedagogers uppfattning kring barns samlÀrande samt hur det pÄverkar verksamhetens utformning. Studien baseras pÄ relevant litteratur inom omrÄdet samt pÄ kvalitativa intervjuer med fyra fritidspedagoger verksamma vid fyra olika fritidshem i en kommun i Norrbotten. Resultatet visar pÄ att fritidspedagogerna till största delen har en sociokulturell uppfattning kring barns samlÀrande Àven om samlÀrande Àr ett nytt begrepp för fritidspedagogerna. LÀrandet sker, i ett sociokulturellt perspektiv, i interaktion med andra och man antar att mÀnniskans kunskap skapas och upprÀtthÄlls genom interaktion som sker i specifika kulturella sammanhang. Fritidspedagogerna menar att barnen lÀr sig genom gemensamma erfarenheter, genom att observera varandra och genom att trÀna varandra pÄ hur man beter sig nÀr man Àr i en grupp.

Today, we can see that social navigation is embedded in different kinds of websites, but there is still little support for social navigation in the web browser. Our main concern has been how we construct a tool that fills this hole in the web browser. By letting the theory, the prototype and the focus group serve as input/output to each other we could create a better overview of how the different pieces were intertwined. This has been a crucial mental model for us to obtain since it has helped us to understand how we could realize the theory through our prototype and thereby come to the conclusion of what aspects of the theory that we should put forward to further development. After constructing the prototype we thought that it would support social navigation, but realized after analyzing the discussion of the focus group that we are not there yet.

I den olfaktoriska litteraturen finns olika Äsikter om huruvida mÀnniskor kan bibehÄlla en mental representation av en doft. I denna studie undersöktes hur bra vi Àr pÄ att förestÀlla oss dofter jÀmfört med bilder av personer, med hypotesen att denna förmÄga Àr sÀmre för dofter Àn för bilder. Deltagarna försökte namnge 40 personer (bilder) och 40 lukter, dÀr den ena gruppen endast exponerades för stimuli i 4 sekunder (singelsamplingsgruppen), den andra fick obegrÀnsad tillgÄng under hela namngivningsförsöket (multisamplingsgruppen). Grundantagandet Àr att om deltagarna kan förestÀlla sig ett objekt för sitt inre sÄ Àr de inte sÄ beroende av Äterexponering. What Places Adolescents and Adults, Respectively, in Need of Social Assistance? A Qualitative Study of How Social Workers Whom Administrate Financial Assistance for Adolescents and Adults, Respectively, Describe Reasons Behind the Need of Social Assistance Amongst Their ClientsThe purpose of this essay was to study and compare how social workers whom administrate social assistance for adolescents and adults, respectively, describe reasons behind the need of social assistance amongst their clients. This was done due to the use of qualitative interviews with a total of six social workers. Of these six, three administrated social assistance for adolescents while the other three did the same for adults. Prior research of poverty attribution greatly inspired this essay.

I denna studie Àr syftet att undersöka hur och varför pedagoger tillÀmpar ett inkluderande arbetssÀtt av förskolebarn med hörselnedsÀttning. Detta görs utifrÄn ett sociokulturellt perspektiv dÀr sprÄk och interaktion anses grundlÀggande för lÀrande. För att kunna svara pÄ forskningsfrÄgorna har observationer samt intervjuer utförts. UtifrÄn resultatet kan vi se att ett frekvent anvÀndande av tecken och förstÀrkning Àr av stor vikt för att kunna inkludera barn med hörselnedsÀttning och ge dem samma förutsÀttningar att ta del av sammanhanget som övriga barn. I resultatet gÄr att utlÀsa miljöns pÄverkan och hur den utnyttjas i utformningen av verksamheten för att anpassas till de enskilda individernas förutsÀttningar.

The purpose of this essay was to examine and compare what attitudes Swedish and Belgian social workers may have towards residential care and foster care for children and young people. To answer the purpose eight qualitative interviews with four Swedish and four Belgian social workers were made. The results were analyzed by theory of organization and professional acting space. The results of the study show that the social workers in both countries preferred foster care, especially for small children, and that the Swedish social workers had a more negative attitude towards residential care than the Belgian social workers. Even though the Belgian social workers preferred foster care, they found themselves forced to choose residential care due to lack of available foster care facilities, something that did not seem to affect the Swedish social workers.

The Swedish welfare organisation is built on the fact that the legislation gives the municipalities and social workers guidance and direction how to assess cases. Through out this the clients have right to be assessed both equally and individually. How is this done? The purpose of this paper was to examine the effect of the organisation referred to the social workers ability to discretion and the evaluation of the assessment in first time applications of social assistant cases. The purpose was also to look for variations in decisions and if these could be explained out of organisational and assessment effects.

The aim of our study is to explore social workers view on the importance of clothing. We want to know how and if social worker reflects on the importance of their clothing and how it may affect their clients. Dresses social workers differently due to different work situations? Play client`s clothes any role in the social welfare officers? Can client`s clothing affect the assessment of their problem?The study is based on a qualitative method. The data consists of two focus group interviews with four social workers in each group, containing three women and one man in each focusgroup, with a total of eight informants.The results of our study indicate that the clothes are important in meeting with clients and especially as to help create a relationship with the client.

Det finns mÄnga kommuner i Sverige och de Àr politiskt styrda organisationer med mÄnga olika verksamheter som ska samverka. Det blir allt vanligare för kommuner att styra verksamheterna med det balanserade styrkortet. Styrkortet ska styra organisationen utifrÄn olika perspektiv som ska vara i balans. Intern kontroll Àr en kontrollfunktion för att sÀkerstÀlla att kommunen följer de lagar och riktlinjer som finns, att de Àr effektiva och att de verkar förtroendeingivande mot kommunmedborgarna. Revisorer har pÄpekat att det finns brister i interaktionen mellan styrkort och intern kontroll inom kommuner i Sverige.

The purpose of this study was to examine how modern information and communication technology influence collective action within the framework of social movements. By studying the protests in the Arab World 2011, and focusing on the social movements in Suleimanya in northern Iraq, by observation taken on place, the essay discusses that collective action is closely related to the use of technology, for example cell phones and Internet.Result shows that modern communication technology has enabled immeasurable access andconnection between individuals throughout the world, which seems to be different from previouscollective action. The new communication channels in the form of social media, has been used for the dissemination of information and news, documentation, organization and membership recruitment in the social movements in the Arab World and Suleimanya.
