This thesis focuses on the driver?s experience of the road and its surroundings. ?The view from the road? takes place every day and a high-quality ?road experience? is therefore a question of importance. Since cars made their breakthrough in the 1920-30, the approach to ?the driver experience? has varied notably.

Mer än hälften av alla lägenheter i Sverige byggdes under åren 1950-1975, den perioden som i svensk bebyggelsehistoria brukar kallas för efterkrigstiden. Bilden av områden från den här tiden är ofta negativ och det är ofta i områden från den här tiden som de sociala problemområdena i svenska städer finns. Idag är många av dessa områden nedgångna och slitna och i behov av en upprustning. Områden från den här tiden planerades efter andra förutsättningar och lever idag inte alltid upp till de krav som ställs på resurshushållning och kretsloppstänkande. Den här uppsatsen fokuserar på de möjligheter som finns i förnyelsen av dessa områden och hur en omställning mot ett hållbart ekologiskt samhälle kan appliceras där. En ekologisk omställning kan bidra till att förbättra hållbarhetens alla dimensioner. I den fysiska miljön kan många åtgärder göras för att förbättra situationen i dessa bostadsområden.

Frihamnen är ett mycket centralt beläget, gammalt handelshamnsområde, i Göteborg, som angränsar Hisingen i norr och Göta älv i söder. Området var en gång i tiden sveriges största och enda oceanhamn. När varvskrisen slog till under 70-talet drabbades Frihamnen hårt, likt många andra hamnar. Varvet och hamnverksamheten avvecklades successivt och kvar blev en stor yta mark som frigjordes för andra ändamål. Sedan dess har diverse företag huserat i de kvarvarande byggnaderna och området har haft, och har fortfarande, funktion som arbetsplats. Idag är Frihamnen en del av Göteborgs Stads utvecklingsområde Centrala Älvstaden, vilket är det gemensamma namnet för Norra Älvstranden och Södra Älvstranden. Arbetet med Frihamnen är i dagsläget i ett undersökande stadie och inga konkreta planer har ännu arbetats fram..

This study is an investigation of a sub community within the community of Hovsjö. The local government has financed a project in Hovsjö which is intended to bring about positive development. The prior object of this paper is to describe the project, it?s planning, it?s methods, it?s carrying through, and it?s goals. This study presents the district of Hovsjö in Södertälje.

Rapid urbanisation is putting strains on both the landscape and the city dwellers and the pressure on planning for sustainable and equitable cities is crucial. As many cities in Sub-Saharan Africa are expanding, city planning has trouble keeping up to meet the needs of the growing amount of urban dwellers. Many cities have also been planned with the cars in focus and the needs and comfort of the pedestrians have been overlooked. The capacity of institutions is limited due to centralized government and bureaucracy, as well as corruption. Planning is erratically implemented and it is difficult to know what will happen.

The purpose of this thesis was to study the origin of the local news in local newspapers. Do the news originate mostly from the police, the municipality, from press releases or from the reporters own ideas? We also wanted to find out what kind of content predominated in texts with its origin in press releases respectively the reporters own ideas. Of course we also wanted to find out if there were any similarities or differences between the two studied newspapers.We used a type of constructed week, but with non random selection instead of random. We chose one of each weekday the newspapers were published and studied the news covered in the papers that specific day.

Soundscape design handlar om att aktivt planera och gestalta ljudmiljöer i våra städer, men också i våra rurala rekreationsområden. När ljud diskuteras bland politiker och tjänstemän är det oftast i negativa ordalag; ljuden måste stängas ute, ljudnivån måste sänkas. Ordet ljud byts ut mot ordet buller och blir en förorening som människor måste skyddas ifrån; likt en anstormande fiende stängs det ute med vallar, plank och murar. Ovanstående lösning är otillfredsställande, och behandlar inte problemet vid dess källa. Den moderna staden, med dess dominerande ljudkälla fordonstrafiken, ljuder högt och oavbrutet. I decennier har forskare hävdat att människan successivt har slutat att lyssna på detta monotona och ointressanta trafikbrus, och vår hörsel har blivit underprioriterad våra andra sinnen. Hur ska vi då behandla problemet vid dess källa? Ljudnivån är hög i dagens städer, och effekterna som en hög ljudnivå kan ha på människor är bevisad och ska inte förringas.

Public participation is a key aspect in the planning of Swedish municipalities. It is probably the most important tool of them all in the planning towards a sustainable future within the cities and the municipalities as a whole. Participation from the public can take on several different forms. In this paper I focus to research and discuss in and around the usage of a web-based 3D platform called City Planner. The tool allows the user (the public) to view the municipalities planning in a fairly new (but quickly growing) environment.

The aim of this paper is to describe and explain which policy instruments for human rights (HR) the United States and the European Union use towards Burma and to examine the priority given to HR in their respective foreign policy. From the results of an empirical analysis this paper seeks to analyze the US and the EU as powers in the international system and aims to explain their behavior from this theoretical perspective. From the theoretical approaches used I conclude that these actors act in different ways regarding the Burmese issue. This is partially due to the structure of the international system. Both actors primarily use different forms of diplomatic tools and sanctions to try to force change for HR in Burma.

Rydsgård är ett stationssamhälle som ligger i Skurups kommun ungefär mitt emellan Malmö och Ystad. Orten omges av ett böljande jordbrukslandskap och ligger ca 8-9 km norr om den skånska sydkusten. Rydsgård, som har anor från slutet av 1800-talet, har idag ca 1250 invånare och innehåller bebyggelse från olika tidsepoker, en del verksamheter och viss service. Pågatågen trafikerar Rydsgård gelbundet på sträckan Malmö-Ystad från tidig morgon till sen kväll. Tidigare har intresset för att bosätta sig i Rydsgård varit ytterst begränsat, men allt eftersom efterfrågan på bostäder i Malmö- och Öresundsregionen ökat så har de omgivande kommunerna blivit attraktiva för boende. Det har medfört att det hänt en del i Rydsgård på sistone; det finns inte längre några tomma hus och priserna har så smått börjat stiga, det har gjorts satsningar från kommunens sida på upprustning av det centrala ?torget? och orten har fått en helt ny stationsutformning.

Our bachelor thesis is a visualisation made in 3D-graphics of how the horserace track in Tingsryd perhaps will look like in the future, complete with a miletrack, steeplechase, and other horserace courses. Today, the race track is only in it?s building phase. The inner field-group in Tingsryd needed presentation material to show their eventual sponsors, so they contacted us at Media Technology, and we instantly decided to give their idea a try..

Delar av Ystad hamn står inför stora förändringar. På plankontoret i Ystad har man länge sneglat på ett område i västra delen av hamnen som ett möjligt omvandlingsområde eftersom dagens verksamheter i området inte längre är beroende av sitt läge vid vattnet. Våren 2003 hölls ett parallellt uppdrag om platsen. Det centrala läget är värdefullt och i området finns stadens småbåtshamn som är i stort behov av ytterligare båtplatser. Delar av området kommer att störas av buller från färjelägren så dessa lämpar sig inte för bostadsbebyggelse. Mot småbåtshamnen i väster finns möjligheter att göra ytterligare utfyllnader, något som föreslås i båda de förslag som presenteras i detta arbete. Förslag I bygger på en utfyllnad längs den västra kajen som gör piren ca 50 meter bredare.

This study was an assignment for the company Holmen which is located in the region of Örnsköldsvik, Sweden. The study was focusing on the responsibilities of a forestry planner during the planning season. The study was investigating about how much time the planner spent in the office, in the car and out in the forest. Any other issues that would cause delays were also identified. To be more effective and to increase the number of objects to a district bank, a better preparation in the planning stage (for thinning?s or clear cuts) is needed as well as faster transition on to the next area.

In metropolitan areas where the exploitation pressure increases, also the importance to point out nature areas grows, both for the sake of outdoor life and for biodiversity conservation. Since nature conservancy and spatial planning constitute two different parts of the municipalities land use control, a case study has been carried out in two municipalities in the Stockholm region, Huddinge and Järfälla. Both these municipalities have protected about one third of their land and today there are plans to repeal parts of the reserves to enable exploitation. This thesis shows ? from the theoretical concept of sustainable development ? officials, politicians and non-governmental organizations perspectives on questions concerning land use together with the work with nature reserves and repeals.

This will be done partly by an examination of how the participants themselvesperceive citizendialogue. Their descriptions are put in relation to deliberative democracy and its critics amongst other. Partly by study how those involved have choosen to put it into practice. The opponents of the reorganization chose to start a non-profit association, Rasbo in co-operation, to carry on local mobilization and it will be compared with other similar groups.
