Operators and Internet service providers invest in broadband to be able to deliver new services that require higher data transmission rate. A way to make this possible is to use ADSL, Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line, as the access technology. To be able to handle this technology, the service providers should do a pre-qualification. Methods and tools are needed to analyze the local copper lines and decide if these qualify for ADSL with respect to service availability and possible bandwidth through the lines. This report brings up some methods for pre-qualification of ADSL, the important quality parameters and how to gather them from the available services today.

Sedan nästan tjugo år arbetar pedagoger och kökspersonal på Sollerö skola med projekt som syftar till att öka miljömedvetenhet hos eleverna och servera dem närproducerad och näringsrik skolmat. Detta arbete består bland annat av odlingar där skolpersonal, elever och föräldrar tillsammans odlar potatis, lök, morötter och rotsaker till skolmåltiderna. Många av de engagerade i verksamheten uttrycker dock att de upplever motstånd från skolledning och kommuntjänstemän, vilket leder till frustration och osäkerhet kring verksamhetens framtida överlevnad. I denna uppsats undersöker jag hur de engagerade i verksamheten påverkas av Mora kommuns policy för verksamheten, hur viktigt skolledningens stöd är för verksamhetens fortlevnad, samt vilka strategier de engagerade använder sig av för att påverka sina förutsättningar. För att försöka förstå detta har jag vid två tillfällen besökt Sollerön och de platser som är aktuella för verksamheten, intervjuat sju personer som är eller har varit aktiva i Sollerö skolodlingar samt deltagit i ett verksam-hetsmöte.

This report is the result of a project work carried out at Karlstad University in conjunctionwith the local consulting firm Camatec where most of the work has been performed.The work can be classified as a classic engineering work with supportive theories andcalculations which in this context is relevant.The engineering project has focused on developing new standards for a conveyor that is usedin the Värmland paper industry where large rolls of paper are produced. A conveyor can takeits appearance in many different forms but in this thesis it has been an exemplary look and ithas also become modulatable with a central section, a drive end and a turning end.The construction work has been build under CAD programs such as Pro Engineer, drawingshave been created and costings have been analyzed. En teknikstudie med syfte att hitta de parametrar som styr den slutliga utformningen hos ett nytt I/O-system genomfördes hos ABB Open Control Systems under våren 2007. Hela teknikstudien belyste ekonomi, marknadsaspekter och tekniska aspekter som elektronik och mekanik. Denna rapport fokuserar på de mekaniska aspekterna.Det finns problem med kylning av elektroniken i kombination med flexibelt montage och utrymmesbehov på DIN-skenan hos det nuvarande systemet, S800 I/O. På ett nytt I/O-system ställs krav på ökad flexibilitet och minskat utrymmesbehov utan att göra avkall på god kylning. De som främst kommer i kontakt med mekaniken i ett I/O-system, installatörer och serviceingenjörer, ställer dessutom krav på att systemet medger en välgjord installation där det är enkelt att göra rätt.

Phosphorus (P) is an essential nutrient but a surplus could lead to eutrophication. Furthermore, the minerals used to produce the mineral phosphate is a non renewable resource. There are in other words several reasons to reduce the leakage of P and the agriculture is one important area to attend. The aim of this work has been to investigate if carbon-rich arable soils content contain more P than arable soils with low carbon content. Moreover it has been calculated if the carbon-rich soils could pose a risk of P leakage by comparing their delivery of P with the plant uptake. The work has consisted of compiling the results from former gathered and analysed soil samples of 130 Swedish arable soils. The fractions of P considered are water soluble P (Pw), ammonium lactate-extractable P (P-AL), hydrochloric acid-soluble P (P-HCl), organic ammonium lactate-extractable P (Porg-AL) and inorganic ammonium lactate-extractable P (Porg-HCl).

This paper intends to examine how two newspapers, one local and one national newspaper, reported the gang-related homicides in Malmo in 2011, and compares these two news reports to see if there are any similarities and differences. Another aspect of this study is to elucidate how these two newspapers constitute Malmo as a city. Fairclough?s critical discourse analysis is applied in this study, where I analyze the two newspapers? news coverage based on their content. The content is analyzed by studying the text?s vocabulary, grammar, cohesion, structure, transitivity and modality. One similarity is the use of objective modalities, where both newspapers have a tendency to make interpretations and speculations as fact.

The Yangtze finless porpoise (Neophocaena phocaenoides asiaorientalis), is a small freshwater cetacean which has recently fallen dramatically in number. It is an endemic species for the Yangtze River and unless drastic action is taken, it risks the same fate as the now functionally extinct Yangtze river dolphin (Lipotes vexillifer). Threats to the porpoise are diverse but they have in common that they are caused by man. Development of the river has been made to supply a growing human population with food, hydropower, and to reduce the risk of flooding. These changes have resulted in a degraded habitat for the porpoise.

The main aim of this paper is to illurninate how a group of immigrants meet the publiclibrary in Sweden. I have chosen to discuss Iranian immigrants' meeting with the publiclibrary in Borås. The investigation (qualitative interviews and inquiries) has taken placein the public library of Borås and partly in a local library with high density of immigrants.A theoretical perspective deals with the case study of dual marginality, where theconception of the "Marginal Man" or "The Outsider" is central. Arbetes syfte är att resultera i ett planförslag för Pottholmen och svara på tre frågeställningar som behandlar översvämningsrisk, tillgången till offentliga och mer privata delar och möjligheten till ökad vattenkontakt. För att få en förståelse för Pottholmen har jag använt mig av metoden realistisk stadsanalys. Jag har även använt mig av Kevin Lynch begrepp för att kartera området. In my paper I have examined the United Nations role in the democratization of Kosovo. In order to complete this purpose I have asked two questions? How has the UN contributed to the democratization of Kosovo that has taken place so far?? What advantages and/or disadvantages has the UN presence in Kosovo had from a democratic perspective?The method I have used in my paper is a qualitative one, and more specified a qualitative text analysis. An uncountable number of companies are present in foreign markets as a result of what we commonly choose to call globalization. This is especially true for Swedish companies traditionally operating on small markets. A company that is about to establish on a new market is faced not only with possibilities but also with challenges and risks. Researchers have found that companies that establish on foreign markets will have to deal with competitors on the national as well as on the global market, and therefore need consider how they globalize their brands. The cooperation between university and industry life in the region of Gävle is always a topic of importance. University and High schools have various roles to fulfill: except administrating the training and supporting research they should also - as a third role - contribute to cooperation between organizations, business companies and other associations. In addition to that, they should support individuals by local as well as regional development. The purpose of our paper is to make a critical review of the cooperation between the University of Gävle (HiG) and industry life until today and the consequences in order to encourage students to stay in the Gävle region during and after their period of studies.Initial we started with a preliminary inquiry with a questionnaire as a base for students in three programs at the Department of Economy; the program for Bachelor of Science, the program for estate agent and another economy program with direction estate economy. From this preliminary inquiry we got the picture of the way the students looked at the problem.

I have been studied Microsoft SharePoint on behalf of Prevas in Karlstad.The purpose of my work was to see if Microsoft SharePoint was what Prevas wanted as a replacement for the existing intranet, which they are not satisfied with today.My work was a kind of foundation for Prevas so they could make a decision in this matter.The work began with installing SharePoint at one single server at Prevas. We used a virtual technology (VMware) at the installation, which can be described as that we created two ?miniservers? in a bigger server, one for SharePoint and the other for storing the information. This kind of technology is strongly advancing. The main work consisted of setting up the structure for the navigation and designing both the portal and the local homepage for Prevas Karlstad.
