The purpose of this study was to examine the use of manipulative materials in mathematics education with the main focus on grades 4 to 6. With the use of a phenomenological approach all the aspects of this phenomenon was examined. Qualitative interviews, participant observations and comparative content analysis of textbooks has been conducted to investigate the use of manipulative materials in mathematics education. The results indicates that the teachers that were interviewed possesses good knowledge of this teaching method. However these teachers struggled to find time to put this method into practice and there was not enough teachers to attend these classes.

Per Wahlöö is one of Swedens most internationally renowned authors with the crime novels about Martin Beck as the crown jewel. His career as a journalist is not that famous. The cardinal question in this paper therefore is whether the social criticism that made his authorship so famous emanates from the journalism he produced before or simultaniously with his work as a novelist. To do so I have used a text analytical method on all of Per Wahlöös journalistic writings between the years 1947 and 1965. The sources have consisted of both daily newspapers, most notably Kvällsposten, and weekly magazines like Veckorevyn and Folket i Bild.

The study aims to explore the view preschool teachers have on conflicts and conflictsrole in preschool context. And what consequences this approach has for conflictbeingness in preschool. The study uses qualitative interview method to answer thepurpose and issues. The results have shown that preschool teachers' views of conflictsdiffer and that the strategies preschool teachers use will be selected based on both theirdefinition of the situation but also the relationship they have to the children. The resultalso shows that the main reason that preschool teachers deal with conflict is due to thepreschool teachers' common sense is the basis for the standard of good atmosphere thatpervades the preschool context.

The authors have during the spring semester 2011 studied the subject destination development during a political crisis, focusing on Tunisia. With the homepage?s popularity at 2009 they decided to expand with the news page Inkzine. 2011 they contacted us with a plan to expand the homepage to Europe and then merge their two sites under the name Inkzine.The goal of this project was to create design suggestions for Gaddad / Inkzine that both the administration and the current users liked and would consider implementing on the website. In order to evaluate the current design and our suggestions we decided to use two questionnaires .

This study started with my interest in drama pedagogy practices. The aim is to investigate the teacher's conceptions of children's play and learning activities in drama pedagogy practices. Basically drama pedagogy means children and teachers creating play worlds together, usually based on various literary works, where they portray and play. Previous research shows that drama pedagogy as a method can enrich and develop children's play. Also, drama can be important for children's linguistic, social and aesthetic development.In this study, overall three interviews and two observations at different occasions was carried out.

Syftet med min undersökning var att lyfta fram hur förskollärare förhåller sig till användandet av Tecken som Alternativ och Kompletterande Kommunikation, TAKK, som komplement till talet i samlingssituationer. Metoden som användes var kvalitativa intervjuer, dessa har gjorts med fyra pedagoger, två som arbetar på yngrebarnsavdelning och två som arbetar på äldrebarnsavdelning.Sammanfattningsvis visar undersökningen att användningen av TAKK skiljer sig åt i många avseenden, inte enbart mellan yngre och äldrebarnsavdelningarna utan även förskollärare sinsemellan, men att det även finns många gemensamma tankar och erfarenheter hos respondenterna. Något som de har gemensamt är att alla fyra är positivt inställda till användandet av TAKK och de anser att det är ett roligt och utmanande arbetssätt. Det har framkommit under intervjuerna att TAKK anses av respondenterna vara är ett bra sätt att stimulera kommunikationen hos alla barn på deras avdelningar, och inte enbart de barn som har någon form av språkstörning. Något som skiljer dem åt är erfarenheten av TAKK och även mängden av tillfällen då TAKK används i samlingarna..

The present study has two purposes. One aim is to investigate to what extent 20 pupils in grade 3 use two different forms of presentation in their narrative texts and how these choices of forms of presentation create certain patterns in the pupils? texts. Another aim is to study to what extent the pupils use various features of spoken language in their narrative texts and whether these features correlate with the forms of presentation. The material in the study consists of 20 narrative texts from the national test in Swedish in 2011.

The interest for power and energy measurement has greatly raised with todays increasing electricity prices and enviromental awareness. This thesis is about language planning in Faeroese libraries as seen from the countrys specific situation, with Faeroese as a mothers tongue, but with great dominance of the Danish language within media. The purpose of my thesis is to examine language planning activities within the library, and the consequences this planning has for the system. Different theories about language planning provides a framework for my model of the library as a linguistic eco-system with actors performing status planning, represented by the government with its influence in cultural politics, the librarian with his or her library tasks and the user with his or her needs. The thesis has a qualitative attempt, and the empirical material consists of different documents about the country and materials from interviews made with seven qualified librarians, employed within general libraries in the Faeroe Islands. The analysis shows that the librarian in different ways promotes the Faeroese language within library activities, and because of the attention paid to the user in the public library he/she influences the librarians planning.

Syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att beskriva och försöka förstå hur det svenska ledarskapet fungerar i Kina, i svenska företag med kinesiska medarbetare. Vi ämnar även belysa vilka erfarenheter svenska ledare har av mötet med den kinesiska kulturen. Metod: Vi har valt en kvalitativ metod för vår uppsats för att på så sätt kunna beskriva, förstå och få en helhetsbild av fenomenet. Den metodik som vi har valt att använda oss av är intervjuer och enkäter, som gett oss ett empiriskt underlag till denna uppsats, samt litteraturstudier, som gett oss en teoretisk referensram.Slutsatser: Att svenska ledare i stort är framgångsrika i Kina men att de problem som finns, enligt både intervjupersoner och litteraturen, främst uppstår inom områdena kommunikation, motivation och initiativförmåga. Problemen i verkligheten är dock inte lika stora som litteraturen beskriver.

This thesis investigates the possibilities offered to a working landscape architect by anincreased and altered use of digital 3D environments. A basic assumption is that increased useof digital three-dimensional environments promotes the creative processes and presentationoptions of landscape architects.The thesis is based on literature studies and communication with working landscapearchitects, and includes an investigation of the visualization methods available in the Blender3D modelling software. The thesis provides a thorough survey of what it means to model inthree dimensions, as well as of what modelling methods are feasible for a landscape architectto use. As landscape architects, we work with human and unique processes, and thus it isdifficult to develop standardized and automatic software for our profession. One possiblesolution is to turn to open source development, where software and models are shared andanyone can contribute.

The purpose of this study is to examine how pre-school teachers think about the importance of circle time in regard to the child's language and social development from a sociocultural perspective. Furthermore the study will include what role the educators? have during the circle time.To answer our purpose we have chosen the following question:What is the role of the teachers in the circle time?What are the teacher?s thoughts about the circle time?s importance to children's social development?What are the teacher?s thoughts about the circle time?s importance to children's language development?The study is constructed on qualitative methods, where we conducted structured interviews with six preschool teachers and observed their circle time to collect our empirical material. The study is also based on Vygotsky's sociocultural perspective which says that all learning takes place through relations and interaction with other people in the cultural context you are in. The results have shown that pre-school teachers are aware of the circle time?s importance to children?s development, and purposely plan the circle time to give children the opportunity to develop both socially and linguistically skills..
