Safe in the cityscape? Gender aspects on spatial city planning In this thesis, theories regarding gender and spatial planning are applied to the comprehensive plan Fortuna och Hemgården in eastern Malmö. Independent of factors like class, ethnicity and age women experience lack of safety to a larger extent than men do. Today, safety aspects on housing projects is scarcely a controversial issue, quite the contrary. However seldom are the central terms such as safety and security defined. Research has shown that women feel safe when they experience little risk of being subjected to violence; security is deeply interconnected with feeling safe.

?Claiming the right to space? is an argument frequently used by street artists for justifying illegal art in the public space. The public city space as a room of democracy and right to free speech is by some people considered threatened by commercial interests, and street art has become a way to demonstrate disapproval towards this. Street art is illegal and often anonymously performed in our cities. It developed in the late 1970s from the urban graffiti scene in America, and has therefore a lot in common with the graffiti movement.

Slutfasstyrning av missil med explicit prediktionsreglering

Arbetet har utförts på Saab Bofors Dynamics AB i Linköping och dess syfte är att undersöka möjligheten att applicera teorin för prediktionsreglering, Model Predictive Control (MPC), på guidance systemet i en missil av typen Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (MRAAM). Även implementering via Explicit MPC har undersökts. I tidigare studier har det visat sig att den moderna slutfasstyrningsalgoritmen Linear Quadratic Augmented Proportional Navigation (LQAPN), som återkopplar missilens acceleration och rotation, uppvisar en bättre prestanda än de mer klassiska styrlagarna. Det främsta intresset med denna studie är därför att undersöka hur tillvida en styrlag baserad på MPC kan mäata sig med dessa resultat. Fördelen med att använda MPC är framförallt att man kan ta hänsyn till styrsignalbegränsningar på ett direkt och intuitivt sätt.

Tourism has been a major factor in the commodification of place and space. More often than not, tourism has been seen as a possibility for peripheral places, in their struggle finding new ways towards development.

Förstudie och utformning av grönrum och terrass, Tillbyggnad till äldreboende på Forellen i Partille

Partille municipality is planning an extension of the building Forellen. Green environments in health care have been shown to improve the health of patients, especially in elderly care. This report addresses the possibility of using the leftover space in close connection to a dementia and short-term accommodation to a winter garden and a terrace. The report also analyzes the impact of these green spaces on the residents.The purpose is to find alternative answers on the issue through the study of nursing homes and green spaces, and that these may be useful for Partille municipality and inspiration for future projects. The goal is to get conclusions in to a report, drawings, and an oral presentation.The results show that the design of environments can affect human well-being and also be healing both mentally and physically.

Abstract CORDIC (Coordinate Rotation Digital Computer) is an iterative algorithm for the calculation of a two-dimensional vector in circular, linear or hyperbolic coordinate systems. This paper presents a survey of known CORDIC algorithms and architectures for the rotation and vectoring mode in the circular cordinate system. In addition an implementation of the differential CORDIC algorithm in VHDL has been done. The implementation is designed to keep the fast timing and throughput characteristic known for on-line redundant arithmetic..

GBD-Storage Systems is a company that provides the industries with products for efficient storage.The company produces pallet racks and accessories like cassettes and extending units. The companyhas also supplied tire racks for a number of tire companies. The company's CEO Gunnar Berglund hasfor some time had an idea to improve the working situation of the workers on tire firms by allowingthe wheels to be handled by a counterbalance truck. The current situation poses numerous heavy liftswhen the tires are handled and therefore is hurting the workers.This thesis has been aiming at helping the GBD-Storage Systems by developing a concept of howan accessory to counterbalanced trucks can be designed to cope with the wheels. This concept willthen be produced as prototype by the company.

Background: It is today common for companies to provide some sort of incentive for CEO's and senior management positions to motivate, retain and benefit employees within a company. This is in order to drive the goals of the CEO and management in the direction that is desired by the owner. Currently, the Swedish centre-right government has forbidden the use of such variable pay within state-owned companies. There are two different attitudes to variable pay, one that is in favour and one that rejects it. However most people agree on the fact that a well-functioning incentive scheme can be of great strategic importance for a company.Approach: has variable pay to CEO's had any effect on the company's profitability.Aim: the aim of the study is to compare companies who use variable pay to CEO's with companies that do not in relation to their profitability in terms of profit margins, yearly performance, returns on total capital and returns on equity.Method: the study uses a quantitative approach.

This thesis has treated a three-axis robot which task is to serve a larger test machine tomove the modules to be tested, from the storage to the test site. The robot is composed ofthree linear actuators; two standard components of ball screw type and a custom-builtactuator of trapezoidal type. The work has mainly focused on the custom-built device to seeif it could be replaced with a standard component. Part of the work has been to look into thepicking tool and to see if there are any possibilities to improve its function.The report presents two different proposals which I decided to call Robot 1 and Robot 2 andthey aim to address the problems arising in the purpose-built linear unit and the X-axislinearity problems. Robot 1 focuses on eliminating the problems that arise around therobot's X-axis, with such simple means as possible and without making excessive materialchanges.

Phenotyping of Bali cattle and interviewing farmers in Indonesia - a minor field study

Among the Indigenous cattle breeds in Indonesia, the Bali cattle is the most preferred by small farmers. The Bali cattle is a beef breed, and is considered to have several advantageous characteristics and to be well adapted to the country?s harsh environmental tropical conditions with drought and rain. The main aim of this project was to phenotype of Bali cattle from different locations in order to identify and document diversity within the Bali cattle breed based on their observable characteristics, to compare cattle from different areas and production systems to see the effect of management on phenotype. In this study, 107 cows and bulls of the breed Bali cattle, from Kalimantan, Sumatra, Lombok and Bali were phenotyped.

Aktivering av trafiksäkerhetskameror : En studie av kameraaktiveringens effekter på fordonshastigheter i Sverige

During 2006 an estimated number of 150 persons are supposed to have been killed in road accidents caused by speed limit violations. Through Automatic traffic security control (ATK) the Swedish road administration (Vägverket) is working towards lowering the number of speed related accidents. By placing the speed cameras on roads they've managed to lower the average speed at those places. The enlargement of the number of speed cameras is based upon knowledge about for example how high the risk is for speed related accidents on the roads. The speed cameras always measure the speed in which every vehicle passes, but aren't constantly activated to register speed violations.

Odefinierade platser som en del av det offentliga rummet : en undersökning av odefinierade platser i sju kommuner

Odefinierade platser värderas ofta negativt och förnippas frekvent med social problematik och oattraktiv utformning. Det finns dock en alternativ inställning till dessa platser. Till skillnad från många offentliga ytor som kan inrymma exkluderande och kontrollerande designelement finns odefinierade platser där olika sociala grupper kan mötas utan mallar och begränsningar. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka odefinierade platsers eventuella sociala värde ur ett kommunalt stadsplaneringsperspektiv i Sverige och jämföra det med den alternativa inställning som presenteras i litteraturen samt med de eventuella värden som observerades vid platsstudier i Uppsala. Det kommunala stadplaneringsperspektivet erhölls genom en enkätundersökning som skickades ut till trettio kommuner i Sverige varav sju svarade.

The aim with the thesis is to get deeper knowledge in one of the subjects botany, livestock technology or economy. I have chosen to get deeper knowledge in how to store potatoes. How are you going to act to keep the quality on the potato during the storage, with a minimum of weight lost? My aim with this thesis is to get a view over how the potato act in storage space. The storage environment is very important in the storage space.

The project seeks to defend the gaps that occur in time and space and encourages the reader to care about the interruptions of the routine-like and planned, whilst also opening up a discussion about interaction and participation. Mind the gap is a project about the many opportunities the public space has in the contemporary city. What you have in front of you is the result of this project. As society constantly changes, new and different needs arise in the city and it is necessary that architects and planners understand and adapt to these changes. They have to be able to develop new ways of thinking and to challenge established perceptions of what the public space is and should be. This means being able to see that the public space could be different and to recognize the potentials for it to change. This project examines the underlying ideals of urbanism and investigates the potentials of the City when shaped by these ideals.
