I uppsatsen analyseras representationer av den groteska kvinnliga kroppen i feministisk konst. Alltfler konstnärer väljer att i sin konst utforska gränslanden i uttryck, så som det karnevalistiska, hysteriska och motbjudande. Utifrån en fallstudie som fokuserar på tre nutida konstnärer vilka arbetar med det groteska uttrycket vid framställningar av kvinnliga kroppar studeras intentionerna bakom deras verk. Kropparnas emancipatoriska potential problematiseras därefter utifrån postkoloniala teorier, feministisk konstvetenskap och queerteori. Att använda representationer av en kropp som definieras som kvinnlig är inte ett ofarligt projekt.

This essay is about democracy and how a democracy index can be used as a tool to illustratethe gap between reality and ideal. The purpose of this study can be expressed by two researchquestions: Does the Economist Intelligence Unit's (EIU) democracy index illustrate thedistance between reality and the ideal of democracy presented by Dahl? and Can the EIU'sdemocracy index be modified by a) internal adjustments and b) using the variables includedin World Economic Forum?s (WEF) equality index?By using a combination of theories (Dahl?s theory of democracy, Rawls theory of justice andchosen theories critical to liberal democracy) as an analytical framework the following twoquestions have been answered:1) Which of the variables included in the EIU's democracy index have the potential to capturethe level of political equality?2) Which of the variables included in the WEF?s equality index have the potential to capturethe degree of political equality?By using a quantitative method the study?s third and last question has been answered:3) How strong is the rank correlation between the EIU?s democracy index and the WEF?sequality index, that is; how strong is the rank correlation coefficient (rho)?The data presented by the WEF?s equality index indicate that women are systematicallydiscriminated against as a group. From a democratic perspective the EIU may need tomeasure inequalities at a group level in order to capture the lack of political equality betweenindividuals. The purpose of this study is to examine escort-business with a focus on sales of BDSM-services (Bondage and Discipline, Dominance and Submission, Sadism and Masochism). The study is based on qualitative interviews with three informants providing BDSM-services, as well as a survey with 96 men who requested domination of escorts (the survey was carried out by an escort in the 1980s). The analysis of this material resulted in the identification of three themes on which the study centers: The personal experiences of the three escorts, the interaction between the escorts and the clients, and the changes over time when it comes to the performance of BDSM-services. The study has a gender perspective with a focus on feminism and queer-theory. The important conclusions are that there are several differences between prostitution having a focus on BDSM-services and other prostitution.

Avsikten med arbetet är att studera några elevers tankar kring vad eller vem Somme påverkat dem till ett eventuellt yrkesval samt vilka kunskaper de har om olika yrken. Ytterligare syfte med arbetet är att synliggöra hur könsspecifika förväntningar på flickor och pojkar kan påverka dem i deras yrkesval. Genom att göra en könsstudie belyser jag denna problematik vilken i sin tur förklaras genom teorier om jämställdhet, makt och kön. Den empiriska undersökningen består av sex intervjuer och resultatet visar att eleverna har tankar och kunskaper om vad man gör och ska kunna i olika yrken. Flera av eleverna har redan uppfattningar om vad de vill bli och det är i första hand papporna Somme påverkat dem till yrkesvalet.

Alkoholreklam är ett hett omdebatterat område. Det finns de som anser att all alkoholreklam skall vara förbjuden och de som önskar en mer liberal alkoholreklamregler. Sverige har, efter ett mål i EG-domstolen (Gourmet) varit tvungna att lätta upp sina regler då de ansågs bryta mot fri rörlighet av varor och tjänster. Marknadsdomstolen som gjorde proportionalitetsbedömningen ansåg att Sveriges annonseringsförbud var alltför långtgående och därför infördes en 15 volymprocentgräns för alkoholreklam. Denna gräns är dock diffust motiverad i förarbeten och propositioner.

Ända sedan det kalla krigets slut har diskursen om den liberala demokratin varit hegemonisk. Det, menar vi, har skapat en osund situation där demokratins utformning och innehåll inte längre diskuteras. Därför har vi valt att undersöka den globala rättviserörelsens demokrativision, den enda som idag skulle kunna representera ett legitimt alternativ till den liberala demokratin. Eftersom det är en ostrukturerad grupp av diverse organisationer, rörelser och aktivister är det svårt att nå fram till en samlad vision. Vår analys bygger huvudsakligen på World Social Forums ?Charter of Principles?, en samling grundläggande principer som bildar en gemensam grund för alternativa politiska forum.

Given the possibility that the world, as we know it, is a consequence of human interaction and verbal communication our understanding of the world can be seen as contingent rather than essentially given. Conceptions such as "entrepreneur", "woman" and "man" can then be understood as socially constructed subjects. Departing from poststructural and social constructionist perspectives I will examine medial representation of women and men as entrepreneurs. My main purpose is to examine how the entrepreneur is constructed as a discursive subject in the journal Eget Företag. Drawing upon Ernesto Laclau´s and Chantal Mouffe´s Discourse Theory and the poststructuralist feminist theoretical perspective of Judith Butler I will discuss both the construction of the entrepreneur as well as the more explicit question; is gender significant for the construction of the entrepreneur and entrepreneurship in Eget Företag? In this study I come to the conclusion that the discourse of entrepreneurship, as well as the journalistic discourse, draws upon discourses of femininity and masculinity but also upon discourses of ethnicity.

Denna uppsats är en intervjustudie med religiöst praktiserande kristna och muslimska kvinnor där jag har ämnat undersöka relationen mellan en feministisk ansats och religiös övertygelse. Syftet med uppsatsen är att utreda om en feministisk strävan kan vara förenligt med en religiös praktik och i vilken utsträckning dessa olika förhållningssätt också har gemensamma nämnare. Jag diskuterar vidare om och hur en hegemonisk, feministisk vetenskapssyn har kommit att exkludera andra typer av kamp för kvinnors rättigheter och emancipation.Jag menar att denna uppsats framförallt är intressant i samhällen där olika grupper påverkar och samspelar med varandra i vardagen så väl som i politiska diskussioner. För en ökad förståelse av varandras utgångspunkter och övertygelser måste vi också kunna diskutera och respektera varandra övertygelser, trots att vi inte alltid delar dessa uppfattningar. För en feministisk teori ser jag det som högst relevant att förmedla andra bilder av kvinnor än de stereotypa representationer som annars kan vara resultatet av alltför stort fokus på en ensidig målgrupp..

This thesis explores the validity of feminist poststructuralist theory in relation to gender and culture. Within the theoretical frame¬work of Judith Butler, combined with insights from the field of post-colonial theory, different perspectives of the dilemma of universalism are discussed. Primary sources for the study are policy documents from the Swedish government, literary texts and newspaper articles. The results show a number of paradoxes which need to be continually and critically kept unsolved. This does not mean an end to feminist engagement in other contexts than one's own but rather the need for theoretical awareness and self reflection.

The aim of this thesis is to ascertain if women are discriminated in the European Parliament, and if so, how it is expressed. Our hypothesis is that female members of the parliament suffer a kind of double discrimination. The European Parliament consists of roughly one third women, but nevertheless the discrimination does not end there. According to our hypothesis women do not have the same opportunity to influence as their male colleagues, hence the double discrimination.The results of this thesis show that women are discriminated, mainly by not gaining access to the European Union's important issues, whilst the female dominated issues are scheduled on late evening and at the end of a session week. Another unsatisfactory issue was that even though half of the reports were given by women, they only received one third of the references to their reports while men received two thirds of the references.
