There have been changes in Earth?s climate system on both global and regional scale since the pre-industrial era and some of these changes are due to human activities such as the combustion of fossil fuels. This calls for the development of engines with a higher efficiency and less harmful emissions. One interesting concept is the Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engine, which has the advantages of potentially low emissions combined with high efficiency. However, HCCI with diesel fuel requires a relatively long fuel/air mixing time to ensure a "homogenous" charge.

Energy price are on the way up to a high level that will not diminish in the future make us to focus more on the sustainable development for a better solution of residential houses. Passive house or low energy housing are one of the solution to make residential more environment friendly, in same time it´s a financial security using less energy, and saving money. The last 10 years in Germany and all around Europe the concept of passive house been developed, and people aim to know more about these concept that leading the market more attractive for passive houses. A passive house is a well designed building highly insulated and air tight with mechanical ventilated system for the whole building envelope that minimizes the use of energy for heating [1].The housing company Mimer has chosen to invest in low energy consumption in every new housing project.  These future plan projects are decided to use less than 75 kwh per square meter annually in purchased energy [2].This thesis is about new constructed passive houses, and focuses on the evaluations of the temperature, and moisture condition for attic, external walls and joist.

SammanfattningSyfte och frågeställningarSyftet var att studera sambandet mellan GIH:s Gångtest och bestämd maximal syreupptagningsförmåga (VO2max). En av frågeställningarna var om GIH:s Gångtest är ett alternativt test för att försöka predicera maximal syreupptagningsförmåga hos friska fysiskt aktiva unga vuxna.MetodI studien ingick 45 fysiskt aktiva personer (26 kvinnor och 19 män) i åldrarna 19-28 år. De två genomförda testerna är GIH:s Gångtest (ett 6-minuters gångtest) och bestämning av maximal syreupptagningsförmåga med löpning på ett motordrivet rullband.GIH:s gångtest är ett shytteltest där testpersonen (Tp) går fram och tillbaka på en 50 meter lång sträcka och runda två koner. Tp får gå denna sträcka så många gånger som möjligt under 6 minuter. Vid testets slut mättes maximal gångsträcka, puls och ansträngningsgrad.Testet för att bestämma maximal syreupptagningsförmåga utfördes med löpning på ett motordrivet rullband.

Det övergripande syftet med denna studie var att jämföra volymtillväxten i skog skött enligt principen Naturkultur, genom olika starka höggallringar, med skog skött enligt traditionellt trakthyggesbruk. För att besvara frågeställningarna hur volymtillväxt och inväxning skiljer sig mellan de olika behandlingarna utfördes en fältinventering, under sommaren 2012, av ett försök anlagt 1990-91. Försökslokalen var belägen i Åliden, 64ºN 20ºE, cirka 35 kilometer norr om Umeå. Försöket var anlagt i en sydvästsluttning 155 meter över havet och var tänkt att representera Västerbottens kustland. Försöket i Åliden ingick i en serie om tolv block med fyra behandlingar per block. Behandlingarna var dels två naturkulturbehandlingar där skog lämnats (Gles och Tät), en naturkulturbehandling där 90 procent av skogen avverkats och en behandling enligt traditionellt trakthyggesbruk (Kal och Kont).

Post-anaesthetic myopathy (PAM) is a serious occasional complication of general anaesthesia in horses. It causes not only pain and suffering to the horse, but also suffering (trauma) to the owner with increased veterinary costs. In the worst case PAM can be fatal. The anaesthetic nurse must know which parameters have to be taken into consideration in the prevention of PAM, to be able to prevent it, and use that knowledge for the animals safety. The aim of this literature review was to investigate and make a presentation of the factors and measurements associated with PAM, with focus on how to monitor these measurements to prevent it from happening, and the advice a Veterinary nurse can give to the horse owner regarding this condition. According to literature there a few factors that greatly increase the risk of PAM, these include- hypotension, periods less than 60 mmHg significantly increases the risk.

Broar med integrerade landfästen är i Sverige i dagsläget en relativt ovanlig brotyp, som endast finns av ett fåtal slag. Främsta fördelarna med integrerade landfästen är att rullager inte behövs mellan överbyggnad och landfästen. I nuläget finns inte tillräckligt med underlag för normer med tydliga riktlinjer och regler för projektering av sådana broar. Därför har projektet INTAB startats som har till huvudsyfte att studera integrerade broar och anpassa bronormer till dessa. Som en del i projektet INTAB (Economic and Durable Design of Composite Bridges with Integral Abutments, RFCS, 2005-2008), gjordes 2006 en pilotstudie där en samverkansbro med integrerade landfästen byggdes över ån Leduån som är belägen ca 50 kilometer söder om Umeå.

Syftet med studien är att ta fram ett grundläggande material för vidare undersökning avseende högre kvalitet vid taxeringsförfarandet i samband med justering av taxeringsvärden när väg fram till småhusfastigheter saknas. Detta då det idag inte finns några riktlinjer kring denna justering. Målet med studien är att undersöka vilken värdeinverkan avsaknad av väg till småhusfastigheter kan anses ha på marknadsvärdet, och vad som gör denna värdeinverkan svår- eller lättbedömd.Metoderna som tillämpats i studien avser en kvantitativ- samt kvalitativ undersökning. Den kvantitativa undersökningen har genomförts i form av telefonintervjuer med mäklare och fastighetsvärderare. Detta för att få en generell bild av hur marknaden anses uppfatta förhållandet avsaknad av väg.

Inom 100 meter öster om Hörbys tätortsområde ligger Karnas backe med omgivande betes- och skogslandskap. Karnas backe omfattar ca 30 ha och ägs av Hörby kommun med kultur och fritidsförvaltningen som huvudansvarig för tillsyn och skötsel av platsen. Området består av ek- och hassel dominerad blandlövskog med inslag av björk, al och asp. Inom området finns även en ohävdad gammal inägomark. Landskapet är kuperat, variationsrikt och tätortsnära och är därför ett värdefullt rekreation- och friluftsområde.

This study examines in which way literature is presented in four schoolbooks for the Swedish senior high school of today, compared to descriptions and selections in Swedish universities. The study covers two basic schoolbook categories used in the teaching of Swedish and comparative literature: anthologies and textbooks.The four anthologies structures and their joined canon are presented, and the text canon of 12 common writers is studied and compared to the corresponding text canon in the universities selection of texts to main courses in comparative literature. The four textbooks are analysed by close reading of the presentations of four different writers and their works, where the textbooks for the Swedish senior high school are viewed through the glass of literary guides used in Swedish universities.The study also analyses what literary perspective is present in the Swedish school principles for education in literature and display, through earlier didactic studies, a sketch of the classroom reality of education in literature.The study finds that the examined schoolbooks for the Swedish senior high school tend to, not only shorten the text length and amount of texts but also, simplify the selection and presentation of the writers production. This leads to certain fixed and, in some cases, almost stereotyped ?roles? that are assigned to the writers and limits their production.

Stump wood is a hot alternative when the heating plants demands more and more forest fuel. The aim with the study has bean to calculate the costs in four different systems for transportations of stump wood, examine if there are any differences in fuel quality for the stump wood in the different systems, analyse if the fuel quality in stump wood is affected with the time it lays by the road side and how much space the stump wood demands on the road side. To calculate the costs for the different systems a system analysis was carried out, where some of the costs were collected through field studies on Holmen Skog stump experiment and other costs were collected from literature and contacts. Data for the fuel quality study was collected from Eons heat plant in Norrköping. Data for the study of how much space stump wood takes along a roadside was collected from field studies.

Luleås innerfjärdar har ett stort rekreationsvärde med möjlighet till bad, fiske, samt promenadstråk med utsikt över vattenspeglar. Landhöjning tillsammans med övergödning gör att de rekreativa värdena hotas i form av minskad yta med fria vattenspeglar och sämre vattenkvalitet. På sikt kommer innerfjärdarna på grund av landhöjningen avsnöras från havet och till sist växa igen helt och hållet. För att fördröja igenväxningsprocessen genomförde Luleå kommun ett uppdämningsföretag åren 1992-93. Två överfallsdammar byggdes med en dämningshöjd på ca en halv meter över normalt vattenstånd i havet.

WSP building physics in Stockholm has certified the preschool Temmelburken in Bromma with the system of certification Miljöbyggnad. The rating of the building became BRONZE. In this thesis the preschool has been investigated with respect to the three areas: thermal climate, use of energy and improving of the level of certification. The thermal climate at the preschool has been investigated by a questionnaire survey and by measurements in order to do comparisons between the results from the two investigations as well as with the results of the simulations that WSP has done at the certification of the preschool. The differences between the results from the simulations and the questionnaire survey for winter as well as from the measurement performed with a comfort meter the 19th of March are concidered to be reasonably small since they give rise to the same rating according to Miljöbyggnad.   Operational data for the use of energy for the preschool have been obtained in order to do comparisons with simulations performed by WSP and Svenska Besiktningar AB. The comparison shows that the simulated values for the specific use of energy are lower than what the real specific use of energy would be for the preschool, since just the operational data for the heat energy is higher than the simulated values. At the investigation of the possibility of improving the level of certification it was found that the rating of the preschool can be raised from BRONZE to SILVER by improving the ratings of the ?thermal climate summer? and the ?daylight?.

Under de senaste årtiondena har mängden rönn, asp, sälg, ek (RASE) minskat i de svenska skogarna. RASE är älgens favoritföda och bär en stor biologisk mångfald vilket gör att minskningen är ett stort problem. Därför är mitt syfte med detta arbete att undersöka vad som påverkar mängden och rekrytering/förekomst av dessa arter. Inom Österbybruks älgförvaltningsområde lades tjugofem transekter upp. Vardera transekt var 400 m lång varav 100 m på ett uppväxt hygge och 300 meter i äldre skog. Inom transekten lades det ut provytor med 50 meters avstånd, 2 på hygget och 6 i skogen.

The governing set of regulations for structural engineering in Sweden used to be Boverket, BKR. However in the beginning of the 21st century a changeover to new regulations, the Eurocodes, started.The transition was completed in year 2011 when the Eurocodes became the mandatory design work policy for all countries within the European Union. The Eurocodes were implemented to simplify and remove potential barriers to trade that may exist when countries have different design rules.  Since the changeover it has been important for all construction companies to update their knowledge base and their design software.When comparing the two calculation processes they seem similar, but there are a couple of differences worth noting.  With the new regulations, engineers will find that the process when designing joints in timber structures has changed.  What used to be a fairly easy and straight forward calculation procedure has now become tedious and time consuming.The objective of this degree project is to present a product, a dimensioning tool that will help structural engineers when computing lateral load carrying joints in timber structures.The degree project is made up of two parts where the first part is the written report describing the background and theory behind load carrying computations. The second part of the project is the actual dimensioning tool which includes several worksheets in Microsoft Excel. AimThe purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between off-ice horizontal jump tests and on-ice skating among students at hockey high schools. Questions: What is the association between the performance on horizontal jumps and skating 10 meters standing start among students in Swedish ice hockey high schools? What is the association between the performance on horizontal jumps and skating 10 meters flying start among students in Swedish ice hockey high schools?MethodStudents at three ice hockey high schools in the Stockholm area participated in the study. Two schools were national approved sports educations and one at lower level. All 50 students (41 at national approved sports educations and 9 lower level) that were included in the study were men and went year one and two in gymnasium.
