It is often challenging to create a new enrichment program for any animal. This is especially true with the additional challenge that I wanted to use only naturalistic enrichment, and I?m working with animals some of which are nocturnal. Even with a many hurdles, a little bit of enrichment can do a big difference and make a big difference in activity levels of the animals. This thesis analyses the 2005 UK presidency of the Council, and more particularly the negotiations on the future financing of the European Union. The purpose of the study is to discuss whether the holding of the presidency implies political influence for the member state. To analyse the power of the country holding the chair the thesis focuses on the presidency functions of brokering and leadership. The theory suggests that the influence of the presidency is derived from informational and procedural power resources, as well as some leadership resources, such as coercion and reward. A case study was used to analyse whether these power resources were used by the British presidency.

Background: The stress in the society seems to having become more amplified and more trying. Statistics show that the appearance of stress related industrial diseases have increased strikingly. What can be stressing at the workplace? The work conditions are not the only thing that causes stress but no matter what the causes are employers have to restore the employees to their former positions. How are companies dealing with the problems of stress in reality? Do they have formulated strategies for how to manage the problems? Purpose: The purpose with this essay is to try to see pattern in how companies manage and treat stress and stress related industrial diseases.

Rapid Granulator is one of the world's largest producers of granulators, which is a kind of grinderwho grinds discarded plastics to granules which later can be reused when pressure molding plastics.The company wanted help in developing a new, or alternatively extending their previous,measurement equipment. The old equipment was hard to use, required changes in the code fordifferent measurement scenarios and had a limited array of measuring quantities. Rapid had an ideaof a similar concept only with a greater number of input ports, better range of applicable sensors andan advanced yet easy to use interface. The system is supposed to be placed at Rapid's test departmentwhere it will be used as a tool for finding faults and provide data which can be used for furtherdevelopment of the granulators.The project's members accepted the task and immediately began searching for suitable componentsfor the system. After the search was completed a list of costs, limitations, sensors, I/O's anddevelopment environment was presented to Rapid's staff.

Den nya smygreklamen : En kvalitativ studie av Avsändar-Finansierade Program och dess betydelse för tv-branschen

Syftet med studien är att belysa, problematisera och diskutera fenomenet Advertiser-Funded Programming eller Avsändar-Finansierade Program som det kallas för på svenska. Avsändar-Finansierade Program är en av de senaste trenderna när det kommer till att integrera organisationskommunikation med massmedia. Annonsörerna har tagit steget från att enbart exponera produkter och varumärken i reklampauser i och mellan program till att nu finnas med som en finansiell aktör i finansierings- och produktionsprocessen. Samtidigt som organisationers externa kommunikation integreras i underhållningsprogrammen minskar publikens möjlighet att värja sig från kommersiella budskap eftersom budskapet blir en del av det redaktionella innehållet. För att hämta åsikter och tankar från personer som direkt berörs av annonsörernas intåg i produktionsprocessen genomfördes kvalitativa intervjuer per telefon med personer som arbetar aktivt med AFP.

The aim of this study is to investigate how employees in consulting companies develop their competence in order to perform their daily work. The focus is on informal competence development. The theoretical framework consists of theories concerning learning and competence development in working life, theories on organizational change and evaluation, a well as professional reflection. The methods applied are narrative research and interviews based on the assumption that knowledge about reality is only obtainable through language and communication.The main results show that competence is developed through experience, social interaction, communication and dialog with co-workers and customers. The post-modern conceptions of the rapid (technical) development and need to be up-to-date has a strong hold on the informants apprehension of working life, as does the notion of not having enough time for all the competence development they would like.

NMD 100 is a notes and media dispensing machine, manufactured by De La Rue Ltd, located in Flen, Sweden. The customers, mainly bank offices, have expressed a need for a more comprehensive description of errors occurring from time to time in their machines. In order to acquire a BSc-degree in Computer and Electronics Technology at the University of Linköping I have carried out a diploma work, regarding new computer programs to fulfil the customers? wishes. The machine NMD 100 is connected to its PC through handshaking.

The company develops and produces fuel cells amongst other products, which have emerged during their research and development in the fuel cell technology. Cellkraft works in a high?tech frontline market where innovation is key.

TUCS : En sammankoppling av Visma SPCS och MS Outlook

Målet med vårt examensarbete har varit att på uppdrag från United Computer Systems skapa ett program som kopplar samman Visma SPCS och MS Outlook. Anledningen till detta program har varit att utöka den begränsade kontakthanteringen som finns i Visma SPCS. I större affärssystem blir det allt vanligare att så kallade CRM system integreras. Dock saknas oftast bra kontakthantering i lösningar som riktar sig till mindre företag. Genom att koppla samman SPCS med Outlook, ger det användaren möjligheter att lagra mer djupgående information om kunder, deras kontaktpersoner och leveransadresser.Programmet har utformats i Borland Delphi och vi beskriver i denna rapport hur vi gått till väga för att skapa ett program som uppfyller vår uppdragsgivares önskemål vad gäller användbarhet och användarvänlighet.Vi beskriver även några av de grundläggande begreppen för vårt projekt, så som Screen scraping och API för SPCS och Windows..

Partialevaluering : Specialisering av program  Utformning av en laboration

Partialevaluering av program är ett intressant ämne både för att optimera programmen men även för möjligheterna att kompilera program med en interpretator.Denna rapport beskriver hur laborationerna i kursen Data och Programstrukturer på Linköpings Universitet, som är helt baserad på Abelson & Sussmans bok Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs kan utökas så att den även går igenom partialevaluering. Som grund i laborationsunderlaget ligger en enkel partialevaluator för en delmängd av det funktionella språket Scheme som utvecklas för underlaget.Rapporten består i huvudsak av tre delar, i början introduceras läsaren till partialevaluering. Vi förklarar hur man av ett generellt program och viss känd information vill skapa ett nytt specialiserat program. Två vanliga metoder att göra partialevaluering på beskrivs men i första hand fokuserar rapporten på den metod som implementerats, nämligen offline metoden. Specialisering av ett program med en offline partialevaluator börjar med en analys av programmet som sedan specialiseras.

Perspektiv på kompetensutveckling i praktiken: en intervjustudie av HR-arbete i ett globalt företag.

During the last decade working with competence has emerged as a more strategically important area. Today the human resources in a company are considered a competitive advance and the HR-units play a significant role when it comes to HR-management. Different motives for investing in strategies that promote competence development and learning also exist. The purpose of this paper was to examine how the process of competence development was managed at a large global company. The empirical material consisted of four persons who were interviewed and the analysis of the material was inspired by grounded theory.From the analysis four major themes or core factors emerged as central to the interviewed persons' understanding of the competence development process; solid preparatory work in relation to competence development, communication, awareness of responsibilities and finally the taking action and evaluation of the action.

Methodology: The thesis is based on abductive perspective where empirical and theoretical material has been mixed to create a foundation for the analysis. Theoretical perspectives: Theories concerning knowledge management and research and development have primarily been used. These have been complemented with material about team structures and incentive systems. Empirical foundation: The empirical material is based on semi structured, mostly qualitative interviews and strictly quantitative inquiries performed at Industrial Hose within the Trelleborg group.

Assessment of food retail business sustainability : the case of Konsum Värmland

Public concern and the need of responsible way of doing business have brought forward the issue of sustainability at the forefront of discussion in the last decade. Even though, food retailers are playing an important role in the economy, they are exposed for criticism by media and consumers for any socially and environmentally irresponsible business practices because, the potential environmental and social impacts from their operations are significant. These impacts need to be recognized and properly addressed. The main objective of this study was to assess the sustainable business management of a cooperative food retail business in Sweden, known as Konsum Värmland (KV). The necessary data and information on history and status of KV, and its practical activities concerning the implementation of sustainable development programs as well as the motivation and challenges encountered by KV during the implementation were gathered via reviewing different documents, research papers and press releases; interviewing decision makers and other personnel in KV and other researchers from Swedish University of Agricultural University who have investigated KV.

In this paper we investigate whether power structures in organizations have an influence in the process that leads to burnout. We analyze if these power structures affect the individual?s health condition toward burnout in a way that leads to disability and subsequent absence from work. In the study, six persons who all have been unable to work due to burnout have been studied through qualitative, semi-structured interviews. The material have been coded with three different themes; leadership and hierarchy, responsibility and delegation of responsibility and performance and loyalty.

Speciallärare eller specialpedagog? En studie om speciallärares/specialpedagogers syn på sin utbildning och yrkesroll inom särskolan

In 1990 the education training program for teachers working with children with special needs was changed. One major difference in the new program compared with the former one is that the specialized teacher is now mainly supposed to supervise teachers instead of teaching pupils who have learning difficulties. The aim of this qualitative interview study has been to find out what the specialized teachers think about there education, and how this could influence children with cognitive disabilities in special schools. I have interviewed six teachers who specialized in teaching pupils with cognitive disabilities. Three of them where educated prior to 1990 and the others were educated after 1990.
