The objective of this essay was to analyse if the same housing needs are assessed equally by Swedish welfare agencies in ten districts in Malmö. If not, why?Welfare officers from all districts were interviewed. They were all working with homelessness among families. We had an idea that the districts were forced to prioritize because of the meagre recourses, and that clients who really needs help doesn't get what they need.

Demokrati eller folkstyre innebär människors naturliga rättigheter till medbestämmande och jämlikhet. Många människor får möjlighet att njuta av demokratins friheter och ett självständigt liv utan hot och våld från myndigheter. Vi har utifrån detta valt att se varför demokratier inte kan behålla de demokratiska elementen. Vårt syfte med uppsatsen är att finna förklaringar till varför demokratier faller.För att uppnå syftet har vi använt oss av empiriskt material i form av relevant litteratur, som täcker demokratins uppgång och fall kopplat till de länder vi valt att studera. Uppsatsen är en komparativ fallstudie av Haiti, Ryssland och Zimbabwe, där vi undersöker maktelitens påverkan på demokratin.I de länder vi valt att studera kom vi fram till att demokratins förfall till stor del beror på makthavarnas sätt att verka.

På kort tid har Colombia gått från ett totalförbud mot abort till en oväntad legalisering, en kontroversiell lagändring vilken är ett resultat av inhemska och internationella organisationers arbete i kombination med det globala civilsamhället. Denna utveckling visar en oväntad källa till makt som blir intressant att fördjupa sig i då det är ett aktuellt fenomen, och en kritisk fråga som kom ett genomföra en radikal förändring i ett konservativt klimat. Vi studerar hur olika rådande teorier om det globala civilsamhällets påverkan på politiken kan ge en ökad förståelse för detta exempel, genom att titta närmare på begrepp som makt, globalisering, mänskliga rättigheter samt relation mellan stat och samhälle. The explosion of new digital media puts pressure for developments within copyright law both in Sweden and internationally. These developments are taking place on two different international areas: (1) WIPO which is a part of the UN family and (2) the EU where a new directive on copyright law is being prepared and probably implemented during 2001. The aim of this thesis is twofold: (1) to study which considerations libraries must make when handling the new digital media both under today's copyright laws and under those which are being developed internationally. (2) What will be the consequences, for Swedish libraries, if the new EU-directive on copyright law is implemented in Sweden? By analysing current copyright laws, international treaties and the proposal for a new EU-directive as well as the national debate the thesis brings attention to a number of central issues for libraries.

The way society categorize different people into groups is problematic in the sense that the categorization can seem stigmatizing and have social consequences for those being categorized. Immigrants are one of those problematic categories.The following essay studies this categorization of ?immigrants? based on a governmental investigation of structural discrimination that took place in 2002-2008. The aim is to study the use of the category ?immigrant? and the consequences that follows such a categorization.

Är Israel-Palestina konflikten ett religiöst krig eller en politisk fråga? Det är denna fråga vi har som övergripande syfte att besvara i uppsatsen genom att studera hur olika dimensioner av identitet används i konflikten. För att göra det har vi studerat de olika parternas argumentation för rätten till landet, samt för några aktuella konflikthandlingar. Vi har analyserat officiella dokument, artiklar, intervjuer och uttalanden med en innehållslig idéanalys, som delar upp argumenten i ideologiska/religiösa och kognitiva. De aktuella handlingar vi tittat på är palestinsk terrorism/frihetskamp samt Israels byggande av en mur/staket runt Västbanken.

A great source of risk during peace processes of today comes from spoilers, individuals and groups who deliberately try to undermine every attempt to achieve a negotiated peace agreement. The aim of the thesis is to examine problems related to the management of spoilers during peace negotiations and the effects thereof. A central aspect in this respect is the dilemma of whether to include or exclude controversial actors like spoilers at negotiations.The choice of limits of the subject is to examine the peace negotiations that resulted in ?The Agreement? in 1998, concerning the conflict in Northern Ireland, and in ?DOP? in 1993, concerning the conflict between Israel and Palestine. I find a significant difference between these two conflicts regarding the way of managing spoilers.

Många av världens ursprungsbefolkningar lever i nybyggarsamhällen, där deras situation präglas av en social marginalisering och tyngs av sociala problem. För att kunna ge ett bidrag och ökad förståelse kring denna problematik är studien utformad som en kritisk diskussion kring medborgarskapet. Det statliga medborgarskapet är centralt, eftersom det definierar vilka individer och kollektiv som inkluderas respektive exkluderas i en politisk gemenskaps specifika rättigheter och skyldigheter. Trots ett inkluderande i det formella medborgarskapet, har ursprungsbefolkningarna dock haft svårigheter att ta del utav dessa rättigheter. Medborgarskapet vilar på en konstruktion som utformats efter det hegemoniska nybyggar-kollektivets värderingar.

The United Nations is an important organization when it comes to international peace and security. Recent events in international politics, however, have brought about a widespread concern about the abilities of the organization. Powerful states have shosen to act outside of the organization to achieve their goals. They have furthermore a disproportionate influence on the decision-making body, the Security Council.The aim of this essay is to examine wheather UN can function productively as keeper of the international peace and security in the political climate of today, and to find out to what extent the powerful states harm the organization. I use a theoretical article, concerning states relations to international organisations, to analyse the acts of powerful states in UN.

Good governance-begreppet introducerades av Världsbanken på slutet av 1980-talet som riktlinjer för hur en stat på bästa sätt skall organiseras och styras för att nå ekonomisk utveckling. Good governance-idealen innefattar bland annat öppenhet, transparens, rättsäkerhet och effektivitet, som sägs uppnås genom åtgärder som liberalisering och decentralisering. Banken har använt sig av konditionalitet då de ställt krav på anpassning till good governance till de länder som ansökt om utvecklingslån. Tidigare har good governance-kriterierna setts som absolut goda och tillämpbara i alla länder, i enlighet med ett best practice-synsätt. Många har kritiserat denna tillsynes förenklade världssyn och hävdat att agendan är alltför ambitiös och att banken bör ta hänsyn till mottagarländernas specifika kontexter för att nå bästa resultat.

Postcolonial feminist theory says that ones identity is constructed by severalfactor, not only gender but even culture, ethnicity and class imbedded in the socialcontext. This paper examines what happens to women's identities if the socialcontext changes. Does an identity shift occur? By interviewing five women fromBosnia-Herzegovina I try to understand the affects migration has on women?sidentity. Postcolonial feminist theory says that our identities are constantlychanging, as their constructing factors.

Sedan 1995 har ett transnationellt samarbete formats mellan Helsingborg och Helsingör. HH-samarbetet har som roll att profilera och stärka städerna i Öresundsregionen via integrationsprojekt. Arbetet pendlar mellan lobbyarbete och direkt stöd till enskilda projekt.Samarbetet är en del i den ökade regionalisering som Öresundsregionen på senare år hängivit sig åt. Utvecklingen har dock kritiserats för dess tjänstemannastyrda karaktär och bristen på politisering har lett till ett ifrågasättande av dess legitimitet och skapat upphov till frågor rörande regionalisering och politikers respektive tjänstemäns roll i arbetet.I följande arbete har politikers och tjänstemäns roll i detta småskaliga samarbete granskats. Genom att titta närmre på HH-samarbetet framgår en beaktansvärd skillnad i graden av politisering mellan regionala och kommunala projekt.

This is a study about the relation between the Swedish school and the political system of Sweden. I wanted to see if the relation had changed since the election of 2010 as it was in that election the Sweden Democrats got over five percent of the votes and took seat in the Swedish parliament. The thing that is unique about this election is that it was really the first time a right-wing party had been elected into the Swedish parliament. Many experts argue that this is the first xenophobic party that has been elected into the Swedish parliament. This led to a problem for schools and their principals and a difficult question to answer because xenophobia is contrary to the school?s core values and the school?s democratic mission.Should the school still be open for political parties? How do schools manage to distinguish between political information and political propaganda? If parties still are welcome into the schools, which parties should be allowed? The equality ombudsman has said in a report that the schools have to comply with the principle of objectivity, which stipulates that the public sector has to be unbiased.I have chosen to make use of a qualitative method because I think the study then gets a deeper understanding of the topic.

The purpose of this paper is to develop an idea about geography in literature and through the study of science fiction literature examine the ?future city?. With the perspective that the city is a social construction and through the use of discourse theory, I have tried to emphasize how the future city is a representation of cultural discourses and in what way geography in literature can be used to increase our understanding of urban places. My intention with this paper has also been to find a way to connect the fictional future city with today?s urban planning discussion about the future city.
